I called ahead about selling used books and was given an overview of the selling process together with what I can reasonably expect. After sorting and bringing in five boxes of childrens books/series, I was told that I have to wait an hour in the store before someone could look at them. I asked additional questions about what to expect in terms of a sale price to make sure that the additional time is worth it, and was given a vague but promising answer. Once the cashier went through the books, she offered me $42.50 for 150 books in excellent condition, some of which are brand new and most of which were hardcover (valued at $16-$20/book). I repacked everything and left. I will NEVER go back. The information provided to me on the phone was very misleading and the "offer" made to me was an order of magnitude less than what I was led to believe I would get. BTW, while waiting, I walked around the store and the same books I was selling were being sold at the store for $4 to $8 each. I was offered 28 cents per book. This is a rip-off!

Okay, first of all, their books are far from "Half-Price." With the exception of their reject book clearance bin and the cardboard boxes of F-Grade Marvel and DC comics, most of their merchandise is merely 10-25% off of the full retail value. And the buy counter? THIS is a complete rip-off. NOT only did they pay me pennies on the dollar for collectible books, but they REFUSED to pay me for a huge stack of mint condition cake decorating and other books. The woman at the buy counter insisted they would be donated or put into their clearance bin. Excuse me? You just strong-armed me out of my books - by pretending they are worthless - and got stuff to put in your clearance bin. Only reason I took their lowball offer is because I was housecleaning. For all I know, they are keeping the "donated" books for themselves too. Totally sleazy business. Never going there again.

I wasnt too impressed with this location. Im an avid fan of the company, just this location was a tad disappointing. I was hoping since it was a more older location, wed find some sweet deals, but that didnt happen. My daughter and I spent maybe a half an hour at this location. We usually patron the Fremont, CA location, but we had a 50% off coupon that needed to be used and we decided to go to a new spot. Maybe it was the way it was organized? Maybe it was just a bit overwhelming the way they had it set up? Cant quite pinpoint it. Not giving up on it though, they have a CREAM right around the corner. =)

Smaller than the Half Price Books Im used to, but they have a reasonably good selection of books and the prices beat the pants off Amazon. I would give them 4 stars, but they divided up a few sections in a very illogical manner which led to me believing they barely had a genre, when they actually had a much larger selection elsewhere in the store. The do carry rare, collector, and first edition books at this location. They are mostly locked up, so you have to ask for assistance of course. Located on the square in Concord so there are plenty of places to eat and there is free parking readily available.

Horrible experience. Have been selling them hundreds of good books, first Ed. Signed, first printing, limited publications, manuscripts, records, movies, and software.... They have always gave me pennies for them, which was fine, until I saw MULTIPLE books that I sold them for sale over $1,000!!!! They are crooks, everyone needs to know.... At the time I was also told they have no breakdown of the prices on single books, which is a lie, because I just got off the phone with manager and she has a detailed printout of the transactions.... Very deceitful, ungreatful, snobby, and all around careless.

I knew there was something about this store when I walked up to the clearance shelves out front and books in the categories I was looking for were on it. Never have I been to a clearance of anything/anywhere and it have what I came for. Inside they had THOR and Punisher Comics and a Glowing Ouija Board. Not to mention the subjects I came for. And pricing; its like walking into an online store. Anything your looking for for the cheapest price and no shipping and handling. Very impressed and will be coming from Livermore to get my books.

I used to come in here just about every day! Sure they dont give you much when they buy your books and CDs. Although, that is why their prices to sell are so low as well.I bought a geology book here for a class at Diablo Valley College for $9 versus $65 and up everywhere else. I tried to get into the E-book craze, but hated the inconvenience of not having a charged e-book. Also the prices for an e-book is ridiculously high. Just come here and get the real thing for a fraction or at least "half-price"

Well stocked little store. I can always find something I have to read while Im there. I particularly like the selection of gardening books. I can usually find something I must watch in the DVD section. Nice selection of inexpensive gift items like coffee cups, fun bobble heads, blank notebooks and right now a really nice batch of inexpensive Christmas cards to choose from. Friendly staff and easy to navigate shelves.

Great Selection, good service! They have new and used books coming in on a regular basis, the service is great and there is always someone who can steer me and my family to the books we are looking for. I love how they change things in the aisles so we have different fun things to browse. My daughter has found many well loved movies and usually they are great too.

This place is great! It seems like theyve got any book you could possibly want. And at ridiculously low prices too! The staff is usually friendly and willing to point me in the right direction of the book Im looking for. Ive never bought music/movies, but they seem to have a pretty big selection of that too.

Really cozy bookstore that had almost all the novels I needed. I needed a particular book they didnt have in stock and they called their partner store and it was shipped to them for me at no extra cost. They also provided me with a call to let me know it arrived. Excellent customer service. Loved it.

I wander into this place every time Im in downtown Concord, they always have new and interesting stuff and the staff is super friendly. I always make it a point to visit this brick-and-mortar bookstore before I take a look at Amazon for whatever book Im looking for and Im rarely disappointed.

This place is sadly on the endangered species list, but visiting often is always a delight. Great bargain bins, good mystery sci-fi history and many other sections, and a delightfully quirky collection to browse. One of several stores, and one not to miss!
