Bamboo can used for many things - constructing a home as a container for liquids/food as a weapon .....and as a place to get some tasty drinks! Stopping by my local liquor store for some Lotto quickpicks, my eyes spied a new food establishment next to Geko Tei. BAMBU Desserts & Drinks? Never heard of the place before, but Im down for some cold, sweet concoctions. Daniel greeted me at the counter, letting me know that, in celebration of their Grand Opening, all desserts and drinks are $3 from now till 12/20. He informed me that BAMBU uses real fruit, not powder. I had the chance to sample sapota (sapodilla aka chico), soursop & Andrew Zimmerns nemesis..............the durian! I like durian. You just have to get past the smell, is all. I opted for the namesake of the place, the BAMBU Special I ordered mine with a substitution of coconut milk over coconut water & avocado slices. WOWEE!!!! This stuff is great! The BAMBU Special was loaded with large slices of coconut, pandan jelly, longan, avocado & basil seeds floating in coconut milk creaminesss. No skimping here! To say I enjoyed the BAMBU Special would be the understatement of all understatements. It would be the mother of all understatements ;p A delicious dessert not to pass up! BAMBU also offers coffee, milk tea, blended drinks & smoothies. A little something for just about everyone. Again, using real fruit. Only the real deal for BAMBU! Service was friendly and the place was spotless. There are a few benches to sit, but BAMBU is more a grab n go spot, in my opinion. Parking is in a private lot shared by Carls Jr., Geko Tei, Shipmates etc. I highly recommend stopping by BAMBU Desserts & Drinks to satisfy your sweet tooth. You wont regret it! Must try Quality of drink: 5/5 Weve tried drinks that they printed pictures of in beautiful square canvases, and they were all fantastic! Perfect level of sweetness, loaded with toppings, and consistent. Service: 7/5 The manager is incredible. He gets very happy about showing customers his favorite ways to enjoy the traditional drinks, and even mixed the drinks for our group the first time we came. The service is always very pleasant and leagues above most other boba places. Interior: 5/5 I just had a good time here, k?

Lets see...mung beans, pandan jelly, milk, all the goodness of halo halo but now in a cup form?! Yes! Great for those days that you want a little "more" than your usual Boba Tea. Some days, it does feel like a struggle for me though to slurp those big ingredients through the straw. Thank goodness for the spoon that comes with it. It is a bit of work for a $4 drink but after having one, you will most likely be full as it can be a meal in itself. Pictures with the drink on the menu makes it easy to order by number.

Beware: the dessert drinks here are dangerously addictive and Im pretty sure its packed full of sugar, but so damn delicious! The owner is also super nice. He came out to make us drinks even though we came early and they werent even opened yet.
