TL;DR: Overpriced, Disorganized, Rude. Ive been to this Sports Basement several times, and honestly- I am surprised they are still in business even though they havent been in the Pruneyard very long. The store is always almost empty, and their inventory is hodgepodge, disorganized, and expensive. They do have a bit of everything, which is one good reason to go there... but then again, so does Amazon. And its both a lot easier to find and cheaper there. I first visited this store when it was still being renovated, coming in search of some camping supplies (notably propane). I couldnt even find the camping section, had to ask for help- and then found they had two propane canisters, one of which looked used. Well, I figured I took the time to be there and- quite frankly- felt bad if I didnt buy them after bugging the salesperson, so I bought both. Later on I went to the nearby Target and got ten cans for half the price. Well, I figured they were still stocking so things would probably improve when they were done. Long story short: things have not improved, if anything its even worse. My last visit there was with the Mrs. to look for a bike. Walking down the floor center, I was struck once again by how disorganized it was: there was a long line of womens shoes going all the way down the middle of the store, ending in the bike section. But - get this - the bike shoes are on the opposite end of that line, not near the bike section. Thats just one example: completely random stuff is scattered all over the place. It really looks like a basement- guess thats the reason they call it that? But the thing is, its organized like your basement but the prices arent basement prices- in fact, theyre comparable to high end sports stores like REI. I browsed around for a while, passing several staff members who didnt so much as glance in my direction. Then I decided to go see how my wifes bike search was going and walked down to the end of the store. I couldnt find her in the main bike aisle, and looking left saw what appeared to be another aisle of racked bikes with random other stuff mixed in. Turning in that direction, I was finally engaged by a staff member who asked if I was looking for anything. I said, nope just looking for my wife, and took another step forward. This prompted the most bizarre reaction I have ever seen in a staff member of ANY store: he jumped back, spread his arms and ducked down- literally looking like a football player about to tackle me. I stopped, surprised, wondering what on earth this guy was doing. He literally looked like a silverback gorilla about to charge me. After holding that pose a while, he said "You cant be back here." Back here? Back... where? It was literally an aisle just like any other in that mess of a sporting goods store. Well apparently it was their employees only area, which he kindly showed me to be demarcated by a faded yellow line with equally faded (and reversed) STOP letters printed behind it. Oh. Sorry Mr. Gorilla, Ill leave your pen now. Want a banana? Im pretty sure thats going to be our last visit to this place. Some tips for the management in the unlikely event you read this: 1. Your organization sucks. It needs to be fixed. 2. Your staff needs to be trained on how to act less like apes and more like salespeople. 3. Your employee only area should be blocked off, not be another aisle of goods. 4. Your prices are way too high; price matching is good and well, but if that was enough Id still shop at Best Buy. 5. Your inventory (assuming it can be located) is crazy random. Its kind of like going to a garage sale- you find odds and ends of everything, but probably not what you want unless you are really persistent and keep coming back.

This is a great shop. I took a bicycle wheel in here to convert it to quick release. Turns out nothing about the wheel was usual. They ultimately could not get the right part through their supplier but told me what part it needs and they would do the job if I brought it in. So I got it, brought it in and they happily swapped my wheel axel. When I picked it up the mechanic remembered me and gave me some pointers about the work he did. It was an excellent experience because the team was professional, helpful and friendly all around. I saw a lot of really nice customer interactions while waiting for people to try and figure out the odd ball wheel I brought them to work on. Also, the mechanic knew exactly what it was once they got him involved. The crew at the desk just wanted to try and figure it out on their own first.

This is a very good store at a purchase time and everyone is very interested to help you. I bought a cannondale 750$ bike which after 3 rides started to create a noise at back wheel breaks. After mechanic revisit in store I been told that it tuned but it is normal at this price range to have break noise. I probably should have return at that moment immediately. The noise did not go away after another several rides and I asked to return it back to store. The same mechanics review the bike again and said he would receive it back but hold 150$ for "frame damage" which are actually a bike scratches after several bike rides. Unfortunately the issue solved only after involving a store manager.

I love this Sports Basement - its the closest to my house. I called in a couple weeks ago about having my snowboard fixed and the people were extremely helpful. I wanted to take it the next day to Tahoe but Kevin (?) advised me against it. I was able to rent a snowboard (its really cheap actually! $20 for 4 days) for the weekend, they have plenty in stock. I could tell it was a busy night since the store was packed and everyone was renting gear. I also came back a couple days later to check out the gear for hiking boots - lots of options and definitely cheaper than other places Ive checked out. Definitely will come again :)

DO NOT GO HERE! Worst customer service I have ever had and I work in the customer service field. Employees argue with you, try to sucker you into signing up for things and rudely persist even when you say No. Their stuff is mediocre compared to other sports stores. This store made me feel pressured and insulted. Will never shop here again. There are plenty of great places to get sporting goods where i actually will feel like spending more as the employees know how to treat their customers.

Very POOR customer service. I went to the Campbell store with the intention of buying my daughter a bicycle for the upcoming school year. The Bicycle salesman (bald guy, and the only one in the dept) not only IGNORED me, but seemed like I was BOTHERING him! Hey forget that. I am taking my business elsewhere. They had dozens of bikes in stock. I made the wrong assumption that they wanted to sell one! Maybe thats why they had so many bikes in the store.

Let me start by saying the employees are nice. This place reminds of a well...a basement the size of Costco...but nothing worth buying kind of like K-Mart. No guns, no ammo, no fishing gear nor even a basketball can be found here. This place reminds me of a true basement ...you know the place where you put stuff you may use in the future but never do....sad but true.
