This is the most terrible thing that I have ever seen in a pet store. They are selling tattooed mollies. The common tattoo method involves grabbing the fish, taking it out of water or putting it in a very shallow amount of water or a wet paper towl (easier to hold on to), NO anesthesia, and just jabbing it with a ink-filled needle repeatedly, then tossing it back in the holding tank. Its extremely cruel, the mortality rate is astronomical, and it seriously shortens the lifespan of the fish. The inks havent been through testing like human tattoo ink, and when the cheapest inks possible are used, theres a good chance that something in it might cause cancer, tumors, reproductive damage, or just general blood poisoning. Dr Peter Burgess, a fish health consultant whose work on dyed glassfish was published in Practical Fishkeeping in the 1990s, said: "The skin of a fish is living tissue throughout. Any colouring method that damages the skins protective surface will render fish prone to potentially life-threatening infections. The artificial colouring by laser presumably involves restraining the fish out of water for some time and this is likely to cause further unnecessary stress. And how do we know it isnt painful? "This practice should be condemned as being cruel and totally unnecessary. It devalues living creatures and treats them as if they were some inanimate object that can be decorated purely for whim or commercial gain. For too long, fish have been widely perceived as cold, unfeeling creatures that do not perceive pain, but we know this is far from true. This despicable practice only serves to perpetuate the myth." After taking a quick stroll through the store the fish area was the last place that I ended up. I asked the man that was working there about them and he told me that yes.... they are really tattooed. Like that would make me want to buy one? After that I turned, walked out of the store, and will never buy anything from them.

I trusted the salesman, and took his advice. He recommended a glass terrarium for a chameleon that I was interested in. I spent about $200 for the entire setup and $60 for the chameleon. When I got home, the chameleon wouldnt eat, and I also noticed it had an injured foot. I called the Fish Bowl telling them about the problem. They said to pull the crickets legs off because they were probably too fast. What a lame solution!!! The chameleon did not eat one single cricket or meal worm the whole 4 days I had it. When I arrived home from work on the 4th night, I found him laying on his side, barely conscious and unable to walk. I rushed him to Dr. Hunter, a 24 hour emergency vet in N. Little Rock. He said it was infested with larvae or maggots, and was in a coma!!! I then found out that chameleons should NEVER be kept in a glass enclosure because of ventilation, humidity, and bacteria issues. The chameleon was infected before I ever bought it though because it already had white spots on it, which I mistook for normal color patterns. The vet said that it was larvae. I had no choice but to have it euthanized. This pet shop had NO chameleon experience. The setup was wrong, the chameleon was dying, and my hard earned money was wasted. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Please be wary when purchasing a pet here. Im forever grateful that they provided me with my pet bunnies, and that they gave me some of the information I needed to help feed them properly including giving me good deals on the food and cage and such, but I only just now found out some unsafe practices involving the pets, including selling the rabbits at four weeks when they arent even supposed to be weaned from their mothers until 6 or 8. Apparently thats a common pet store practice, but Im still a little upset about this. Particularly with pet rabbits where the weaning process is important for digestive health. I heard today of another friend that purchased a lion head with a broken leg at the store, and that just terrifies me. I dont want you to not buy the babies there because all the pets need homes, just take them to the vet as soon as you get them and make sure you read up before purchasing one. Please, please, please, do your research beforehand, purchase some nationwide pet insurance for $12 a month and get them checked out, or simply adopt. Adoption is always good.

The Fish Bowl is a wonderful pet store! I have been in the store at least once a week for the last month (trying to get my fish tank established) and the store is always clean and the employees very helpful. I have not been in even once when there was an odor which I think says a lot for a store with that many animals! My kids always love to visit and the fish selection is out of this world. I am so pleased that we have such a great local pet store with employees that love what they do and posses real knowledge about the animals they keep. That cant be said for chain stores whose employees have no real experience or knowledge regarding the limited selection of animals that they offer. Thank you Fish Bowl!

We got us a little furry friend with long hair and long ears that loves to eat clover. They have birds, fish, rodents, reptiles and amphibians. Also food, animal care products, leashes and callers. Housing cages, crates, and carriers. rabbits where you pick them up and pet them. A little coy fish pool where you can feed them. They have a variety of fresh and salt water fish. Our favorite to look at is the puffer fish. This is the best way to have a fish if you cant keep fish alive. Just to be able look and experience in the store. Because you can all ways return to the store to exploer another day especially if you have little ones who love animals.

Staff are very friendly but not the most educated on the animals. Im an avid rattie lover! I have pet rats and Ive gotten a few from The Fish Bowl. Out of them all I have had 1 bad experience with the rats but I chalk that up to bad breeder, not the stores fault. Clean store, again friendly staff but not the most educated on their animals, quality of animals is good, but expensive prices when it comes to products. I can get a lot of the items they sell in this store for at least half the price online that they charge so Id recommend going else where to buy products, but when it comes to pets the prices are spot on.

Its a great store! They treat their animals very well! But… One day I noticed that two Quaker parrots were bonded with each other, but were said that they were sold separately. I know its better for profit, for more animals to be sold. But it would be nice if they made a few exceptions… Especially if they personally knew how well those two birds were bonded. Other than that, its a pretty awesome store! Im not trying to say anything wrong about them. They run a good store! In fact its a great store! But thats just my opinion.

Hands down the worst pet store I have walked into to! First complaint would be the care and maintenance of the fish tanks. Every tank had atleast one dead fish in it. Second would be the worst customer service I have ever experienced. First I was ignored, then when I had to track down one of the KIDS working there they didnt seem to care that I was there to spend my money and couldnt even give me a price on anything I asked about. So in short, I am with the guy who says shut them down!!!!
