Im a camper, so Ive never stayed there, but there are some supplies in the store, the restaurant is very nice, and the patio area is wonderful. It makes a great change of pace for a camper, and is a tranquil place filled with visitors who really appreciate the environment and particularly all the bird and other wildlife. The local scenery is incredible, and you can probably add several species to your life list if you are a listing birder, including the Elegant Trogon, Blue Throated Hummingbird, many other species of hummingbird, and a few species of relatively rare owls, among others. Friendly folks.

Excellent! What a super place to stay! The owners and staff are fabulous and as for their steaks , along with other dinner menu items, I would drive miles to eat there. Breakfast and lunch also served and is also as good as dinner... good food! Their hospitality along with food and clean rooms is well worth the trip . All in a beautiful setting..What more could one want!

Wonderful, small cafe in the desert wilderness. Right outside the entrance to Cave Creek Canyon. Great food and fantastic atmosphere (tip: ask for the cherry cobbler). Enjoy a great bottle of wine and a terrific steak or local SW US cuisine. Terrific people and watch out for the deer and javelinas moving into the canyon in the evening.

Charming little general store selling milk, sodas, chips etc with a great cafe serving breakfast and lunch. We had the tacos and they were excellent. Staff were also extremely friendly and let us use their phone (no AT&T signal in these parts). Well located for the national forest.

Pleasant atmosphere, very accommodating and friendly staff. Great food, clean rooms, beautiful setting, ,birds galore,deer javalina. Yes to the lodge and café again! General store has wide selection of food,drinks and novelties,books,photos pencil drawings from famous artists..

Great scenic location. When Cave Creak is flowing well even more so . Check out the hummingbird migration season. This during August , September months And if lucky there are deer, hawks and the rare bear once ina while.

Talk about another great trip to Portal. Mitch Webster has a wonderful place to enjoy natures beauty and have great accommodations and wonderful food. Lots of birds to see too!!
