Rachel Malloy is perhaps the most unlikely local business owner to earn my admiration largely because I suck at being creative when it comes to shopping. Whether its clothing, trinkets, jewelry, or whatever, Im really terrible at it. Most of my immediate and extended family is Arizona born and raised, so Ive often sought out clothing and accessory stores that have AZ themed (and preferably AZ made) options. Low and behold, Bunky Boutique has been right under my nose all along. The name Bunky Boutique is actually a tribute to Rachels grandmother whom she affectionately referred to as Bunky. Originally opened in 2007, their current Downtown location has been open since 2010 and shares a space with Giant Coffee on 1st Street just south of McDowell Road (just east of the CVS Pharmacy parking lot). Recently, Bunky also opened a new (and larger) location in the Terminal 4 Pre-Security shopping area at Sky Harbor Airport. The selection is small compared to most department stores, but their small Downtown location has a pretty surprising variety of items to choose from. Most of the inventory is geared towards their female clientele, but theyve also got mens clothing, baby items, and decorative knick knacks to choose from as well. Ive been here a number of times now. Ive bought my brother (and myself) some t-shirts here, as well as some decorative items for friends (including an AZ themed tic tac toe board for a friends housewarming). The prices vary depending on the items sold and vendors by in large are local independent brands. Not surprisingly this means you might pay a little more for certain items (a t-shirt I recently bought was priced at $35), but Yelp has your back. Theyve always honored the Yelp check-in that takes 15% off an in store purchase each time Ive stopped in. Lastly, I must also complement the staff at the front of Bunky Boutique for their great gift wrapping services, which theyve twice done for me for free. So thanks to Rachel for saving my behind and making me look like a gift giving genius time and again. I have no doubt the new Sky Harbor location will also surprise and intrigue men and women alike. Your Grandma Bunky would be proud.

Stopped by Bunky during our trip to Arizona. This boutique is located inside the same space of a coffee shop. I loved the joint space (shopping and coffee- why not?!) The space is small but there is plenty to shop from. They had a nice assortment of apparel, jewelry, pins, cards and small gifts. There were several items I wanted but I restrained myself!there was some cool local designer and handmade items also. Service was friendly and I enjoyed my shopping experience here. Ended up buying a scarf and a hanging wall art piece. Would definitely return next time.

Even though I left empty-handed, I never felt like a second-class citizen and was given so much information on all the denim that my brain was practically in overload trying to process it all. Check this place out if you are looking for denim not sold anywhere else in the U.S. Amazing selection but prepare to drop mad dough. Premium denim is not cheap by any means.

Really cool, eclectic clothing and accessories with a lot of local flavor...Arizona hats, shirts with Phoenix neighborhoods, etc. Prices are a little higher than Id usually go for ($38 t shirt) but I guess thats how it goes these days.

This place was a great little shop. Located in a fun building with a coffee shop I bought a cool shirt here and the girl who runs it was really sweet. She put a little bag with gummy bears in it with my shirt. 10/10 will return here.
