I have given the groomers here so many chances. I have tried again and again. I show them pictures. I spend ten minutes explaining what my dogs double coat requires. What tools to use and which ones to avoid. Then I explain very thoroughly exactly what I want, WITH pictures. I usually get the bath and brush but I found out that theres a difference between the bathers/groomers here. The groomers obviously require much more training so you think they would do a better job. I was promised by a manager two comped appointments after my dogs coat was ripped out completely by a groomer that used a tool I specifically told her not to. No notes were made on my account like promised so I ran into issues when I tried to use the comp. Luckily the Liverpool location talked to a manager from the Erie store and figured it out. Liverpool location did an EXCELLENT job. I should have made the drive out there again. I took my dog in for a full groom before Thanksgiving. They changed the appointment on me because Gena said she had a tough dog before mine. I agreed even though it inconvenienced me. I was a little worried that she might be tired out by the big dog when it came to my dogs turn but I found out she didnt even finish him. I asked about using the precious comp to get a discount on the full groom and was met with hostility. "ALL WE HAVE HERE ARE MISSED APPOINTMENTS AND THERE IS NOT A SINGLE NOTE OF WHAT YOURE CLAIMING. YOU GOT A COMPED GROOM FROM THE LIVERPOOL STORE AND THATS NOT US." I was so taken aback. Normally I would have snapped and left with my dog but I was just in disbelief and embarrassed. She then continued to push the furminating package on me which made my dogs groom almost $80. My dog had tangles and a couple mats but nothing that couldnt be done out with a slicker. He had a good amount of undercoat but like I said, a conditioning and a slicker and youre golden. I hesitantly agree after going over EXACTLY WHAT I WANT. I figure she knows what shes talking about and I voiced every concern I had in detail before I left. I didnt want him to look shaved. I didnt want him to look flat like he did before. I wanted a neater, trimmed shape but I wanted him to still be fluffy like he was before. I wanted everything to blend. She suggested we use a rake for the undercoat and I agreed. I come to pick him up and wait ten minutes because shes working on another dog and the other groomer is speaking to customers. When I saw my dog, he was jumping all over the place so it was hard for me to get a close look but it was definitely too short. His stomach is completely uneven and he has a weird shaved patch around his privates. His legs are shaved unevenly. The outside of his legs were shaved more than the back of his butt so his shape is completely off. Then he has an almost to the skin shaved around his butthole. It just looks weird and makes no sense. You ruined my dogs coat. I know youre going to say Im looking for another free groom but please look at the photos of this HACK JOB and tell me it was worth $85. I will NEVER visit this location again. I really like Mary Ellen and Holly, they are the only genuinely nice people there. I am sure after this review I will no longer be welcome there but I dont care. PLEASE do not make the same mistake I did. Stay there for at least an hour and WATCH them with your dog. Because it was too easy for them to play beauty salon with my dogs coat.

My friend recently took her German Shepherd in to be groomed and have her nails cut. Instead the dog wound up at the local animal hospital with a gash in her foot that needed 2 staples to close. No reason was given as to how the dog was injured. The day after the incident, the animal hospital and my friends regular vet called to see how the dog was doing; no word or call from PetSmart. When I went with my friend and her dog back to PetSmart 2 days later, we spoke to a manager who said, "We dont know what happened, and thats all I can tell you." NO concern for the dog, no reparations offered, and barely a grudging apology. In the meantime the dog completely freaked out being back in that store! PetSmart is paying for the veterinary care of the dog, but when my friend asked to have the dogs nails finished at her vets office at the cost of PetSmart, PetSmart said she would have to bring her dog back to them if she wanted the nails done at their cost! Hello, the dog had a panic attack when she was brought back to the store! She wont go there again, and neither will I subject my dog to such lackluster care and concern.

While this store has always given excellent service, their relationship with the absolutely AWFUL, so-called "cat-adoption" service gives it a bad name! The donate food and space to a so-called adoption service that is really just a daycare for cats at the stores expense! MOST of the cats "arent available" for adoption because "their foster wont release them." The group says that the few that supposedly CAN be adopted must be declawed and kept indoors at all times -- against the ASPCA policy. PetSmart should immediately kick this group out, and get a REAL adoption program in -- one with the best interest of cats in mind.

Ive never experienced worse service in my life. Kept my dog locked up in the back for an hour and a half after her appointment started before even starting to groom her, then called me 25 minutes after they started and told me they no longer had time to go through with the appointment. They took another dog with an "express appointment", which apparently made that dog more important than mine?????? Handled the situation horribly. Treated my dog horribly by keeping her locked up, terrified, for such an extensive amount of time. Will never go back.

Beyond mad!!! Horrible customer service!!! Made an online appointment earlier in the week for a 8am Saturday appointment only to ARRIVE there and be told sorry ,we are overbooked and need to reschedule. No call in the days before the appointment or before I arrived. Manager Kayla says there is nothing they can do! Why have an online system that doesnt work, why no phone call and why not TRY to accommodate??? I certainly will be calling and sending an email. Time wasted too early on a Saturday morning!

I did not have a good experience at the Petsmart on Erie and would not suggest the groomer I had to anyone. Her name was Gena I believe. She cared more about making money than the appearance of my dog or my wishes. It was a waste of $50 and he looked absolutely no different after his cut. And then she told me he would need to come back in 2 weeks. Now I need to take him to another groomer this weekend because his fur is too long for the summer heat. Im very unimpressed and dissapointed.

Would have been a 3 star review until I found out that they had Anne Romano grooming there. Ive watched her throw dogs across a salon before, on more than one occasion. Ive already alerted the appropriate authorities as well. You think theyd actually do a little checking on their groomers and not hire groomers who have killed or maimed dogs in the past. Done..... will NEVER return to any PetSmart. Just cant trust a company like that.
