If you need some morning caffeine, visit this gorgeous book cafe on the edge of the neighborhood at 208 Bay St., where Steve has been doling out coffee and offering up tasty baked goods (including many vegan-friendly treats) since 2005. His cafe also serves as a bit of a meeting place for the neighborhood, which he said is a close-knit one. Everything Goes is also Staten Islands largest used bookstore. There are several rooms worth of titles in the back -- and its home to a stage for local performers. *****

Best cafe on the whole island. Not open Mondays, but free live events most every Friday and Saturday. This is a small community run business. Fair-trade, organic coffee, huge selection of teas (probably 40-50 varieties). A bookstore starts just beyond the stage area and fills the rest of the store with some additional seating areas. Beyond that is a backyard garden patio, a little hidden gem. I used to work here, never had a problem with the place.

LOU RUSSO
It is the home of all S.I. singers, song writers and musicians. We call it the "VORTEX" where the good vibes all come together. Like an village cafe of the early 1960s. Refreshingly non-materialistic. Where respect for an individuales karma, and comfort, is most important. My favorite place.- Lou Russo, Staten Island SNUGS

Totally unique - reminds me of places that used to exist in the 70s - wonderful ambiance, great snacks, a million teas, great music, every kind of book under the sun (we always leave with armloads of them), and of course, wonderful friendly staff. I tell everyone about this place.

Aint got nothing to do? Tired of tv? Come down here. Books are books. The fare is good (i love eves elixir) and they have performances. I just left a performance with a live band that was pretty good. With free wifi and pay to play computers it beets going to the library.

This is one of the most comfortable, welcoming, creative, positive energy places on earth that can be contained within walls. A true gem.
