I cant say I recall a pleasant experience at the Maplewood west store on Co. Rd. B. I usually have to shop late night and the only person found at the front of the store when Ive satisfied my list is the Security Guard. There is a short, snippy, surly, rude, petite young woman with glasses and her hair pulled back TIGHT who appears to be in charge. She will do her level best to ignore customers while running around the front doing anything she can to seem too busy to be bothered with customers. I am not at all interested in your self- service lanes. However that is my only choice when shopping late at night. I dont ask for anything from the employees at all while I shop. In fact I will omit items from my list such as produce, and I never use coupons because Im not sure of how to operate your machines. I dont want to know how to use YOUR machines. I have a job! I spend a lot of time walking all over the store looking for items advertised that you do not carry, dodging the floor machine guy, and when Im finally done I just want to pay my bill and get out. This morning at 12:50 am there were no employees running cash registers but there were many customers waiting to serve themselves. Normally in any other store that would indicate that maybe someone should open a register. But not here. No way! I had quite a few items to ring up and reluctantly I did start to do so. I brought my own bags and a Cub box. The machine doesnt like that. I got a third of the way through my cart and the machine says something about the weight is wrong, I tried to re-scan the item and it said I had already scanned it. Then it says "I am using my own bag." Yes I am. I tried to clear it out and get back to scanning. I still had a lot to scan so I looked around to see if there might be a short, snippy, rude, young woman nearby but to no avail. With that I put items back into my cart, gave it a shove, and told the guy behind me that Im just not that interested and I left. There were at least 6 -7 people waiting and all four of your self- service lanes were in use. Still no employees. I guess they would rather put all of my groceries away than wait on me long enough to take my money. So be it! This is the only grocery store near my home but I have gasoline and can go anywhere. I have to wonder why any business would want to run paying customers off rather than provide a modicum of service. I can buy groceries any day or everyday of the month and I pay cash. Im not interested in the price I just want to get what I want. I can think of plenty of businesses that would love to have more customers like that but apparently not Cub Foods. Good Luck as I will not be back. This particular store shows no interest in customer satisfaction at all. In fact if they were an airline they would be called United.

This particular CUB Foods store always keeps its temperature high in the summer (to save money on their electrical bill??) so it is VERY unpleasant to shop there in the summer, not to mention the MOSQUITOES that somehow thrive in that store in the summer! I always get 3-4 mosquito bites when I shop there in the summer! The winter presents other problems: their management allows the Salvation Army beggars as I call them to situate themselves there at both the entrance and the exit a WHOLE MONTH before Christmas, right after Thanksgiving. As they are at BOTH DOORS a person cannot avoid their intimidation and harrassment no matter what! If a person donates money at the entrance, he or she cannot avoid a 2nd harrassment on the way out, at the exit. Or, if you have already given money once, and then you have forgotten to buy something, and you run to the store again, then you would be subject to the ringing and the intimidation for the 2nd time. Anyway, I have stopped shopping at this CUB Foods before Christmas and i do my Christmas shopping somewhere else.

If I could rate this any lower I would. I went here today to buy some flowers and while my cousin and I were looking, a group of obnoxiously rude people walked in, jeering loudly and they made rude comments towards us. We told them we didnt want trouble and they went on to threaten us, and one of the girls even threw a bag of chips at my cousin. One of the store employees saw this, and continued walking until we demanded to see the manager, who was no help at all. He kept telling us that things like this happen and they couldnt do anything to help without cameras or witnesses, when I pointed out that we were witnesses and that they had a camera in that very same aisle where she harrassed us, he tried making up more excuses. The cop that was supposed to be "on duty" wasnt there and they ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, trying to assure us that theyd find her, when they had not even asked us for a description. We left and will never be returning. Good luck if you ever go here, the service is horrible and the store is extremely shady.

This place is ok. I have been shopping here for 2 years now but there is one problem that is becoming irritating to me. A while ago they started introducing their store brand, Essential Everyday I believe it is called. Now that brand is spreading like a cancer throughout the store. The choice is products is dwindling every week. The store brand is replacing quality brands and slowly turning the store into another Aldis. Its unfortunate becasue there does not seem to be an alternative in that area. I have also had my share of problems with poor quality meat. That may be less of a Cub issue and more of an issue with Goldn Plump chicken or others but I seem to have to toss out spoiled meat an aweful lot from that Cubs.

The recent "renovation" has taken this store from a place where I enjoyed frequenting to a place I sincerely try to avoid. Many things have been moved, and I (as well as those around me) no longer understand the order they are in. Why is this over here, and this corresponding item is many aisles away and not marked? Ive been back three times since theyve started moving things around in this helter skelter fashion, and the confusion adds frustration and unnecessary time to each shopping trip. One thing that really peeves my boyfriend: The bread is now moved next to the entrance, thus encouraging you to pick up the bread first and pile all additional groceries on top, squishing it... I WANT MY OLD CUB BACK!!
