I just bought a motorcycle,Helmet and motor cycle Jacket from them.Although some sales people are nice especially in the motorcycles sales section.I had the worst experience with the manager in motor cycle accessories after I bought a helmet from them. Here is my version of the story(I am a employed brown East Indian ethnicity guy in 30s with a masters degree working for the government education) I First started shopping for motorcycles about 3 weeks ago.The first salesman who I spoke to was Gary (an elderly white gentleman who suggested me couple of motorcycles that would fit my budget and style). After finally thinking about at a lot of motorcycles I decided on a Honda model when I spoke to Shawn (a young white Salesman in his early thirties ) who helped me with the motorcycle purchase all the way till delivery,to this point I would rate my experience as excellent. They also gave me a discount for the accessories which is nice. Now I enter the accessories section and I was inquiring about the helmets and jackets ,there were 2 white guys(one in late 20s and the other late 30s maybe) in the section the younger one who suggested a helmet which I bought.I was also trying out Jackets,I tried 3 jackets for my size and could not find any that I liked at that point so I told them I will return in sometime after taking care of the paperwork with my motorcycle. So when I came back to accessories section after the paperwork with sales department the older white guy yelled at me rudely that I was not welcome as I left the jackets not in same place. At this point I was shocked and got very upset"he said I tried 3 jackets and did not put them back where it belonged" he rudely said "I have to clean after myself" .He claimed that he had 10 years of experience and he wont sell me a jacket even if I wanted (what era are we in? Is it Middle Ages? I am not sure what he meant though). He also said if I applied for job there he would fire me first day(I have a masters degree and 10 years of experience in my field ,I know I wouldnt last 1 day selling parts ).I know its hard to work in jobs like these as you have to deal with a lot of different customers but thats what you signed up for .If you dont like your job dont do it but dont create a problem or annoyance to your customers. You will spoil their whole buying experience. After that I went back to Shawn and the sales manager to explain the same thing. They tried to sort the things.Shawn came with me and I went back to the accessories department with him and bought the jacket I liked. Although I liked the products I bought the experience at the Accessories section left me unsatisfied on the whole. Please consider this as a suggestion and improve the customer service standards. Thanks, Pradeep

I had the misfortune of my clutch cable snapping while riding from Pa thru Balt. Md 4/28/13. My bike was towed to Petes and the aftermarket cable was ordered. the cable came in, was installed and I picked up my bike and trailer-ed it back to Pa. Something the tech wrote on the repair order struck me as odd (that the 3" longer than stock cable was a little short). The next day I looked at the clutch lever under the boot and could see the barrel end of the new cable (the barrel end of the cable should not be visible) as well as the cable wire and it was bent and not in the slot of the handle where it should be. So I removed the lever and the cable and found the barrel end of the broken broken cable was still in the lever (preventing the new cable from seating properly). The tech installed the new cable but failed to remove the barrel end of the broken cable from the clutch lever. Had I not inspected the work before attempting a ride, this could have cost me another cable and install fee. He also indicated that the new 3" longer than stock cable was a little short. It appeared short because he didnt remove the old barrel end. He bend the cable to force it into the lever causing the cable to pinch, all because he didnt remove the old barrel end. I certainly wish I had looked at it before it went on the trailer, but when I picked the bike up on Tuesday 5/7 it was raining heavily. For a task as simple as a cable replacement, the tech should have checked the slot in the handle before trying to install a new cable. And certainly realize that the cable wasnt seated properly in the handle which would have brought him back to inspecting it to determine why it wasnt seating properly. He also needs to be made aware so he doesnt do this again. I have amended my review because the service after the service was more than I expected. Bryan the service manager took charge of this situation and brought it to an amicable resolve, including a headsup meeting with the techs. Im confident that this action will aid in the overall quality of the work being performed. I like to add a Thanks to Bryan.

I recently bought a barely used Triumph Thruxton here and couldnt have been much more pleased with the experience. OK, first the bad. In the service department, when I was waiting to pay and earlier when I accidentally went around back to try and find the entrance, there was definitely the typical "what the F- do I care about you?" clubbiness encountered in many dealerships. That said, my salesman was terrific. I was traveling 90 minutes to look at the bike, so I didnt want to mess around. He gave me a detailed description of the condition of the bike and its history. Everything was spot-on accurate. Before I went out there, they quoted me a price that sounded a bit low, but hedged -- saying they would have to check the blue book price and let the mechanics look at the bike before they new for sure. I wasnt surprised when the price went up a little, but it was not an attempt to rip me off. When I told him that the price was higher than what he had previously mentioned, he met me part way, and after looking around for a while for that exact model, I can say with assurance that I got a great deal. Having tried to buy the same bike at Clinton Cycles in Clinton, Maryland, I can tell you which shop I prefer -- Petes by a mile (actually at least 40 miles). It is almost twice as far for me to get to Petes, but Ill willingly do so because the Clinton guys are really a bunch of crooks. They know that they are, by far, the closest Triumph dealer to DC and they abuse that monopoly status. Their shop does crappy work, and their sales team will try to nickel and dime you every time (the owner, the sales woman, etc.). When my parked bike was sideswiped last week, it was not a question which shop I would have it towed to. People of DC, I know it is a pain to drive to the far side of Baltimore, but if it saves you the stress of dealing with Clintons sleaziness, and $1000, its worth it.

Had a rollover crash with a brand new (30 hours or so) Polaris 500 ATV. Paid $500 deductible thru Gieco to have handlebars replaced, winch switch replaced and to check if oil had leaked into the carb, air box, etc. Thought I was being smart by not starting it and risking internal damage. So after two months of being at Petes (oh and they charge you $50 to wash it as apparently they are too cheap to buy their own pressure washer) Oh... and for the record, they wouldnt plug my tire with a nail in it, but they would however sell me a new tire. So first thing I need to do is go home and plug it myself after its been sitting there flat for 2 months. So back to the story, I get the bike back after two months, and yes it has new handlebars and winch switch. I walk it up my trailer (ya know cuz I still had flat they wouldnt fix)and I take it home. After about 12 hours more run time I grenade the top half of my motor. While Im troubleshooting one of the first things I look at is the oil and it is BONE DRY. (oh and thers about 2 cups in the air filter box) So long story short POLARISTAR $1100 extended warranty wont cover it because "yes you werent due for an oil change until 50 hours run time BUT its also every six months regardless of hours/miles" So that "warranty" is being cancelled, Petes cycles answer is hey....we did what Geico told us to do, its not our problem. Even though I clearly stated to both geico and the service dept at petes why I was bringing it in. It had been rolled over on its back and there was a puddle of oil/gas and I didnt want to start it until it had been drained, and inspected. So now Im left with a $1700 repair bill with a new shop, and a soon to be cancelled warranty and insurance company. Needless to say I wont be going back to Petes cycle either.
