Ive shopped at this store since 98. I will definitely say that the marked up prices suck, but... I personally dont like waiting for thongs in the mail. I dont like excuses for my lost items, and I dont like people in Japan buying things in my name. That said, I am happy and willing to pay for immediate availability. Sometimes they do ask too much, though. Saying that all of the staff are jerks is a little harsh. Just a couple In my experience. By the way, quite a few of them have proudly served our country. Just food for thought for those who say they dont respect our service members. I can imagine answering the same questions hundreds of times in a day would be irritating to me as well. Educate yourself on what youre interested in a little. It will go a long way there. However, those couple of employees should cool it a little. If they dont, just keep asking questions. When they see you are serious, and not going to back down, youd be surprised at how much they know and truly are ready to share. Im not a range junkie but itd be easy for me to claim that they arent real shooters, or that they know absolutely nothing about the products. If that were the case why were you there asking them in the first place? Especially if you know the answer. Ive been to Paradise. Their staff is just as nice and knowledgable but the owner rubbed me the wrong way. Sportsmans warehouse was great! They just never had the firearms I wanted to buy. Bottom Line... research your interest. And remember, you are buying an Item not a smile. Yes, they can be c*$ckSu*#ers at times but they arent there to be friendly. They are there to help make informed purchasing decisions. Oh, I am one of the customers who has been Insulted to by the way. Apparently being a fan of my ultra tle II that has night sights and laser grip means "i just cant shoot." $1300 gun. Water off a ducks back. I just have thick skin. Good luck on your researching and your future purchase. JP

CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES NOT EXIST IN THIS PLACE!!!! My spouse told me she had a bad experience with a salesman in the store putting his hand up palm forward and walking away while she was asking him a question. I thought she was exaggerating. Well yesterday I walked in this place while my wife sat in our truck because she will no longer walk into this place. I wanted a scope mounted onto my .50 cal. The girl at the register was the rudest cashier I have ever dealt with. She demanded I pay for a couple of items (rings for the mount) for the scope. I told her I was having a scope mounted in the back and I would pay with a credit card when the entire job was complete since I still had to pay for the mounting. She said "no you have to pay for that now". I told her "why dont you hold the credit card if you think Im walking out not paying". She said "Im not doing that you will pay now and then pay again when your mount is done". An employee who has known me as a long time customer was close enough to hear what was going on. He has known me since Specialty Sports was still located off Drennen Rd. over 20 years ago. I have spent over 25,000. in this store. He did nothing said nothing. It was obviously ok with the POOR customer service. I was disgusted with the whole thing. I go to the back where my .50 cal is being worked on. The dude mounting my scope asks if I purchased the gun or the scope at the store. I said "no" he proceeds in a very smart ass manner to tell me how he doesnt like working on equipment not purchased in the store. In the end I walked out left the store. I was angry but had not written a bad review although my wife suggested it. This morning I pulled out my gun and inspected it and found that the work the gunsmith at Specialty Sports was bad. He mounted the scope WRONG! WTH!!! Sorry customer service, long term employees allow new hires to provide piss poor service and the work was bad. I WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN.

I have shopped there since it opened. I buy ammo and accessories there, but never guns because their prices are ridiculously high, and their staff is notoriously unfriendly to clientele. So THIS just happened today: I took in a holster to exchange. I got it as a birthday gift, and sadly, Im a southpaw and it was for a right hand. I tried to exchange it but they didnt carry left hand models. I asked for cash so I could buy it somewhere else. The counter gal called for the OWNER, JEFF LEPP. After waiting for about ten minutes in the EMPTY store for him to emerge from the back, he told me they dont do cash and that they cant put it on MY card due to fraud rules with credit companies (Im well aware of this, having lived and worked in the 21st century for quite some time). He also tried to persuade me to buy something else (Um, no...Im there for a holster). He talked down to me in the most condescending way and told me I couldnt possibly know any of that, not working in retail. Having been irritated by the rude treatment, I told him this treatment was ridiculous, snatched the receipt from the clerks hand and headed for the door. He FOLLOWED me, yes thats right, followed me to the door, shouting after me that I didnt need to treat his staff like that. Thats when I explained what a customer was and that we have historically always been right. He entered my personal space at that point. I then told him I was going to walk out the door and hed be well-advised not to follow me. As I gave him the finger, he shouted for me not to come back (duh! Like I would after that), and that hed be watching the cameras for me. Yes, this ACTUALLY HAPPENED to me, this evening at Specialty Sports. Jeff, Im a gun guy, in a LARGE gun family, who buys guns ALL THE TIME. You just lost the WHOLE fam! BUY AT SPORTSMANS WAREHOUSE, BASS PRO, GANDER MOUNTAIN, PARADISE ARMS, AND DRAGON ARMS! SPECIALTY WILL TREAT YOU LIKE CRAP!

The owner personally threatened my wife and myself in the store parking lot. My wife and I drove down from Denver to get an unusual gun (28 Gauge auto). We got there at 9:30 Friday morning (they open at 10:00). I wanted to through away the two water bottles we drank during the drive. Since there were no trash cans out front we walked around to the back where the trash bin was. We put the two empty and collapsed 12 oz bottles in the bin and were starting to walk back to the front of the store when we heard tires squeal. A pickup truck backed up and sped back to the bin. A man asked if we needed help. I said "No thanks" and we continued walking away when the guy started yelling at us to stay out of his dumpster. I was so surprised at how mad he was that I asked him who he was. He said he was the owner and then yelled that he had a security camera, and if he ever caught us back there again he would call the cops, did I understand! We kept walking away so he got out of his truck and started towards us restating his question in a very aggressive and threatening manner. We both felt physically threatened so we continued to walk away, said nothing, and gave him a thumbs up to signify our concurrence. We were both threatened enough that if I had had a gun I would have pulled it for personal safety. We are both in our 50s, were well dressed and groomed, never cursed, never confronted him in any way. I was planning to spend up to $5,000 there, but after getting threatened, intimidated, yelled at, and threatened with the cops, we took our money to Sportsmans Warehouse. They treated us very well and had much better prices. We bought two guns and many other shooting related items from Sportsmans Warehouse.
