I have never posted a negative review before but this needs to be said. A friend of mine bought the English Springer Spaniel you had there just to get him into rescue. If your employees do not know what they are doing you should NOT have puppies period. It is essential to there mental health to have large areas to play run etc. Breeder was found claiming she did not know her puppy went to a pet shop. Your staff did not even screen my friend!?!? Just turned over the pup not filling out the AKC papers or anything. Theres something fishy with that yet and I will help wherever needed to make sure things are done right. If you are going to continue selling puppies do it the right way. House them right. Train your employees to care for them right. Bring in rescue groups dont sell puppies that have come from puppy mills and /or are not reputable. I tell ya if a reputable breeder sells a pup to a store they are not reputable. How do I know this?? Im a reputable breeder! I make sure my pups have a wonderful start I. Life. I stand behind them. Non of my clients get a pup and are left high and dry. I am State licensed inspected by both the state and AKC. I truly do things the right way! Way to Go ESRA! DONT SELL animals if your not trained right period! Your prices are outradious too! Those poor Hedghogs and the other little creatures..... oh boy I could go on and on.....

I went to Animart a few weeks ago with two friends of mine. I had decided to purchase a hamster as a present to myself. First of all, no one greeted us when we walked in the door. As I browsed the hamster selection, no one came by to offer any assistance. When I was ready to view a pet and ask some questions, my friends and I approached the cash register to seek help. The two people at the registers were chatting and didnt even make eye contact with us as we approached. The girl we asked for help seemed irritated that we interrupted their conversation (it was not a work related convo). The girl reluctantly grabbed a female hamster and put her in a ball, even though I asked for a male. She kept making comments to discourage me from purchasing a hamster. When another employee walked by, this girl stopped her and asked if she would help us out instead. I was relieved. The girl who helped me the rest of my trip was very friendly and eager to answer any questions I had. She helped me pick out all of the appropriate materials I needed to care for my new pet. Unfortunately, first impressions are huge. Even though the second employee was very helpful, my overall experience with their customer service was poor. I havent been to any of the other pet stores in town, but I will not be returning to Animart until Ive given the other outlets a fair chance.

Have not had good experiences there EVER. Last year I bought a pet rat there that was older. They said that it had been returned. I didnt see them take it out of the cage when they let me hold it, so I bought it because it seemed ok. However, they didnt tell me that it ATTACKED and bit your finger when you tried to pick it up from inside the cage. I later found out that it had been returned bc it was a bad biter. I went there yesterday looking for a guinea pig. The guinea pigs were not nearly as friendly as all of the other pet stores Ive been to. Most pet stores buy guinea pigs that have been handled a bit, but the new worker in training at Animart said these never had any handling, he couldnt even catch one for me to hold. I wanted to hold a chinchilla as well, because I was unsure what small animal I wanted. However, I had my dog with me and the woman wouldnt let me hold the chinchilla (which is completely understandable). Yet when I asked her where I could temporarily tie my dog bc it was too hot to put her in the car, she just laughed and continued cleaning?? Sounds too bizarre to be true, but I was just as surprised that she completely was not willing to help me out, that could have possibly cost them a big sale. They have big Angora rabbits in a TINY cage that was filthy as well. Super overpriced as well.

Even after my fish died, I was willing to give you 5 star review. That was until I took the DEAD fish back to the store that I had purchased less than a week prior. The manager on duty told me that the policy had recently changed, and that she makes a point to put a little policy card in each bag. No one ever told me this verbally, and if there was a card in my bag I would have seen it. The policy had recently changed to a week to only 48 hours.. If I would have known this policy I would have NEVER spent $70 on fish! Thinking back to my first visit to purchase the fish, there were multiple tanks that were on "hold" meaning that the tanks were under quarantine. Also, I bought 3 medium sized Angel Fish, which are $15 a piece by the way, there were 3 ALREADY DEAD in the tank stuck to the filter. When I brought up that point to the manager, she said it was because there were too many fish in the tank at one time. REALLY?! I Chose to drive quite a distance in hopes to purchase some good quality fish. I thought with prices like that the fish must be healthy and in good shape. Wow was I wrong. The $3 fish I bought from Walmart are still alive and doing great! Ive visited this store many times in the past never having any issues before, but after that rip off I will definitely not be returning.

honestly Ive never had a bad interaction with an employee. Their staff handling dog food actually taught me amazing things about cool and warm proteins for my pit. But, when I was seeking employment at their veterinary hospital I was told that their animals came from rescues which I now know to be a lie/sugar coated from their own admission in one of these review responses by a manager that has said they come from reputable breeders and unwanted litters. Im sorry. unwanted litters barely counts as rescues. You have all kittens and puppies. Pure breds for the most part that people fawn over for sure thousands of dollars when If you wanted to ring true to your statement you would have adult cats from the shelter that desperately needed homes. Pits and mixed breeds that nerd forever families that are dying in droves while you charge people thousands for designer breeds. You could and have a responsibility to create awareness and claim you have sone rescues to save face but its a lie and for as good as my interactions have been with your employees it means I can never give you my money again. Breeder dogs and puppy mill dogs that you sell to people have no place in my world as you support an industry that kills millions of unwanted dogs

Today, I was looking to purchase two fancy rats as pets, so I looked around at several local pet stores to try to see which had the best looking rats; unfortunately, Animart was the only store that I visited that actually had fancy rats for sale. I say unfortunately because I would feel guilty giving them my money after seeing the state some of the animals were kept in. Many of the small animals seemed extremely lethargic which is discrepant from my past experiences working in a pet store. Im no veterinarian though, so I wont make assumptions about whether that is a reflection of their health; however, it was a bit disconcerting. The main reason I do not want to give this company my business though (and the primary reason for this poor review) is the sad state they kept the dogs in. There was one dog in particular that seemed to be extremely poorly cared for. It was lying alone in its cage shivering and whimpering, yet there were no employees around to care for it. It was a very distressing sight watching the little pup seemingly suffering. I would give this store a one-star review after what I saw; however, at least there were no dead animals clearly visible, so I guess the store still could be worse...
