This was the second car weve purchased through the Kenosha Carmax. We started out with a sales rep that found the car for us, did all the financing over the phone and made our appointment to sign. Upon arrival he was with a customer already, which I understand happens, but a little surprised since we made an appointment. We were placed with a newer employee that didnt really go over the car with us well. I found that it didnt have a manual for example, so was a bit disappointing to not have the car gone completely over with us well. For having the financing approved over the phone I was also disappointed how long it took complete the transaction, almost three hours. The car is currently there getting items fixed under the 30 day warranty promise. This part of CarMax I think is wonderful. I was VERY disappointed with how dirty the car was. I can tell it was a family car and my daughter found gross old wrappers in the seat pockets for example of how poorly the car was cleaned. I mentioned I felt gum in the passenger door handle when I closed it during the test drive, they did "clean" that prior to us leaving originally, but felt it was a very poor job cleaning it since it was still there, just a little rubbed off. I havent had it for almost a week now and have been told it was detailed so I am curious to see how well it has been detailed. Also looking forward to the local dealership getting me the manual so I can learn how to use all the technology in the newer car. CarMax did fully reimburse for the manual, but has been a bit frustrating to not know how to work all the technology. I have been updated daily on the status of the warranty work and was given a loaner which has been appreciated. Overall the sales experience didnt leave me all warm and fuzzy as it has in the past there.

My husband and I went to CarMax in Kenosha because of their policy of the price you see is the price you pay and our son had bought a couple of cars there and was very impressed and recommended them to us. We had done research online and they had a good selection of the model we wanted with the features and options we were interested in. From the minute we walked in the dealership we were treated in a friendly manner starting with Eric-a sales manager. Our salesman Ray was patient, knowledgable and willing to take as much time as we needed to look over the vehicle, answer all the questions we had and let us take a test drive. When we decided to buy our Sienna, he took us through everything we needed to know about extra accesories we were interested in, financing, and all the paperwork that was being done to finalize the sale. While we were looking at our Sienna, our old vehicle was being appraised and we decided to sell it to CarMax at their reasonable trade in price. When the sale was completed, we went to the signing room and Carol took care of all the things we had to sign, explaining everything we were signing to us. We could have not had a better experience at a car dealership-no hassle-no pressure and every employee that we saw greeted us and was friendly. We had ordered a couple of aftermarket options and Oscar in the service department couldnt have been nicer and was also completely knowledgable about their products. We will certainly recommend CarMax Kenosha to anyone who asks us about our new Sienna.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! but great option if your looking for a car to last you only 6 months! Bought a car in April 2016 and the car broke down, had to get a whole new transmission replaced in November. After that, the car started breaking down. 6 weeks later we took the car back again for repairs, when I was called to pick the car it was about 6:30pm. The next day, less than 24 hours later at about 5pm, the car broke down while i was in rush hour traffic heading home, with a miracle of not getting in a car accident. the car was back in shop for over a week & I was not even offered a car rental covered under warranty. CUSTOMER SERVICE experience was horrible, waste of my valuable time. I literally spoke to a person in each department that would pass me on to others just to repeat my story and no one could help me try to solve my lemon car issue. One of the staff actually stated, "its under my pay range to help you". After not getting a call back from someone who could actually help me, i had to hunt down and drive in personally to try to sit down to talk to one the head honcho. When I arrived I was told they could not locate the general manager, a few minutes later I was told he was in a meeting, so i decided to wait. When I was finally able to sit down to discuss my situation, i was simply told that he would have another general manager from the repair department call me. After my almost 2 weeks of living hell with this car situation, I was sent home with only 2 free oil change coupons.

Car buying experience excellent cant be beat. Car repair questionable. I need a tire replace on my 2014 Prius, which was not in stock at the Kenosha Store, it was Friday morning and I was told it had to be ordered. It would arrive Monday, as Saturday was a holiday. OK I can understand that. But would they make an appointment, on Friday, for the following Monday to replace the tire? No! "Please call early Monday morning, we take care of you just as soon as the tire arrives". So I called the service department Monday morning early and the tire is in the store but no I cannot get it changed on Monday I have to wait until Tuesday afternoon. They were kind enough to install the spare on the car on Friday but warned me over and over not to drive it over 45 mph and not for a long distance. So we drove to the local stores, church on Sunday. Couldnt go anywhere on the 4th of July weekend because it would be a long distance. Single car family stuck at home on the 4th of July weekend and even today I cannot leave town, but the tire is sitting on shelf somewhere in the Kenosha CarMax service department. To add to the frustration, I dont think they are going to honor the tire road hazard warranty, because the screw went through the sidewall. When it comes down to it they are no better than a GM or Ford service department, promise you anything just to get you out of the store, but we will make sure it cost you at least $200.00 warranty or not.

I bought a Toyota Sienna a few years ago, purchase seemed to go good and all the service work Ive had done in the past seemed good as well. I always knew I was paying more than a local oil change place for service but got accustomed to the white glove Toyota experience. Recently I had a small warranty repair needed on the third row seat while doing normal 30k service work which I considered minor and they wanted to charge me over $180 to fix. I tried to explain in a nice way that even for the sake of good customer service and the likelihood of a repeat customer it should be covered. I thought a reasonable conversation would get them to actually do the work and a day later I got a voicemail informing they would not cover the work. This is a classic example of why dealers get such a bad rap by gouging people and having arguments over what and what isnt covered under small warranty work. As they say, have a great experience and you likely tell a few people...have a bad experience you tell everyone you can. While buying at Carmax seems like a pleasant no haggle environment, be careful as you may have challenges getting them to do basic work you think should be covered under warranty.
