Excellent range, staff was more than accommodating. I am new to firearms and have been to several gun shops in the area. The staff was by far the best that I have encountered and where able to answer all my questions fully without making me feel like an idiot. Even had a member of the staff come out with me and show me proper operation of a firearm, and even gave me useful tips! Was able to get my hands on a lot of different guns to see what I did and didnt like. Most rentals are handguns, however, they do have some full auto rifles that you can rent if you wish. Handguns are $10 per hour, rifles are $20 per hour plus the cost of ammo. Range fees are $20 per hour, and you can get a membership to the range for $35 a year (unsure what gets you). They also have a yearly $300 fee that you can purchase for unlimited usage of the range for the year. According to staff they are open every day but Thanksgiving and Christmas. They also have eye and ear protection on facility that is provided free of charge. Safety is the highest priority on the range, and they do have range marshals that ensure everyone is operating in a safe manner without being burdensome. I never felt anything unsafe was happening during my stay (unlike some other ranges). Ammo prices arent the cheapest in town, however, they are very reasonable. I was very impressed during my time there and will be back soon. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a good range to shoot at!

Very reasonable pricing for range time. I always bring my own ammo, so I cant comment on the price of theirs. If you live in the greater D.C. area, this is the only option for a rifle range. Everything else is either, indoor, short range, or private and extremely expensive. The range operators are all down to earth and run the range by big-boy rules. Both times Ive been we had a firing line to ourselves and we allowed to shoot when/how we pleased as long as we werent breaking basic safety rules. I dont expect this would be the case if the range were super crowded, but usually theres plenty of space to go around. 340 Defense has a 300 yard range, but be warned, they wont let you shoot on that line unless you can show them a 50 yard target with a certain number of hits within a 1 inch diameter circle. Bring your A game if you want to plink at distance. If youre military permanently stationed elsewhere, they will suspend your membership so that next time youre in town, you can continue where you left it.

Took the Mrs. to 340 Defense for her first ever shooting/handling a weapon session. She got a 2 hr course with Jerry (I believe he is the owner or manager). Jerry was a very nice guy and took his time explaining how to shoot safely and accurately. By the end of the session, the Mrs. was able to put her whole 30 round group of 9mm from an semi-automatic handgun into a 4-1/2 circle at about 6 yds. The Mrs. had a fun time and is looking forward to shooting again. I highly recommend Jerry for 1st time shooters (I also recommend that you schedule the course ahead of time like I did). While the Mrs. was learning how to shoot, I was having fun on the 100 yd range getting my rifle scope sighted. Apparently, there arent many places here in the DC area that you can have access to a 400 yd range, but this is one of them.

If I could offer less than one star I would. Went out there over the weekend to check it out. Home office looks like a house thats falling apart. Ranges are in severe disrepair. Prices were astonishing and the staff was as unprofessional as you can imagine. When I walked in I had 5 minute conversation with a staff member who never even looked up from his magazine to acknowledge me. He answered all my questions with one word answers at best. Firearm and target selection was less than what I brought in my car. Its something of a mystery how this place has remained open. Only positive note I can mention was the addition of a dedicated medical helipad given the remote location.

I used to drive from Frederick md to shoot at 340, now thankfully we have some great local places to shoot. While I would like to take the family to shoot outdoors at 340, because of the hourly yearly membership fee I will not. Charging 35 dollars a year to then charge me 20 an hour for multiple family members is just ridiculous. 220 dollars for a family outing to shoot for two hours is just not feasible, and while the facility was nice, it was not that nice. Nix the 35 yearly hourly membership fee, or adjust the hourly rate with the hourly membership and it would be much more affordable for those not local enough to buy an all you can shoot membership.

This place is a rip off. The range is over priced for just shooting in some mans back yard (literally) . I had initially purchased a year membership for $35 with the impression I could bring a guest and shoot for $20 each per hour with my guest. My first visit went well, still expensive, but I had a good time. When i took my guest with me the second time, i was told that I couldnt repetitively bring the same guest, which was not made clear prior to my purchase of the membership. I will no longer continue to utilize my membership at this range and will go elsewhere. I advise anyone else to do the same.

Excellent range. I took my CCW class there in November 2016 and became a member of the range that day. Since November they have expanded more than I ever thought possible. I try to get there once or twice a month for the pistol range. Friendly staff, safe range, and prices are reasonable. I look forward to range days because it is like I am going to visit old friends and then have some fun shooting. My wife now shoots there with me, so life is good (did I sound like Hicock45 there?)

Very family friendly. My family and I have shot here for about 4 years now and the annual membership is comparable to the indoor ranges of Northern Virginia but Ive never had to wait and 340 has ranges out to 400yds. Staff is knowledgeable and willing to help if asked. If you want an outdoor range, this is the best!

They are great here! They opened up special for our American Heritage Girls Troop WV0082 to earn their Shooting Badge. They were very helpful, and have awesome facilities. The girls had a great time and were very proud of themselves, they all want to come back. Highly recommend coming out here to shoot.

I liked that this was so close to our home, however when we went to talk about membering up it was more cost effective for us to go and member up at a range in Martinsburg, WV. Even shooting there as a non member it was $$$$$$ so we went somewhere else.

We went in a group and the owner charged us outrageous price which was not initially mentioned to us. We ended up paying more than $1000 for 1.5 hour. Owner has unprofessional attitude. Please do not go to this place if you want to save money.
