This place is the best! They usually have everything Im looking for, and if not, theyll order it. Ive often found used books (you wouldnt be able to tell) at a huge discount. Theres an eclectic mix of employees which is awesome, and they all seem pretty happy, so I suppose that means their management is treating them well (I value a business that values their employees)! They sometimes have authors stop in and talk about their books or whatever else authors talk about (Ive seen one reading her book to a crowd of folks) and I believe they regularly schedule other events. Theres coffee and food indoors next to the bookstore in a kind of open market type setup, like a 1990s food court. In fact, the mall downstairs at 3rd Place brought back an incredibly nostalgic feeling of being 14 and using my allowance at the mall to buy d&d books. Anyway, this place is seriously rad. And its way more fun than ordering books on Amazon!

I called to inquire about a book. Someone answered the phone and was very cheerful. I gave my request. Suddenly, after I gave my request, he cut me off, said, Were not open. Were just opening the doors. Can you call back at 9:00. First of all, it was five minutes to 9:00 when I called. Second of all, if youre not open, there are a couple other ways to handle this. You can either not answer the phone if you dont want to take the customer calls until 9:00. Or, you can take my request and call me back at 9:00 since you already answered the phone. Instead, he abruptly said, Call back at 9:00 after Id already given my request. The better thing to do would have been to jot down my request and then call me back. I wont use them again. Hello Amazon....

This place is terrible. I was going to attend a book signing and when my girlfriend called for more information, they required us to purchase the book from them. I understand this concept, as a lot of places do this. However we had already purchased our copy. The manager cut us off before we could even explain the situation and was extremely rude. Weve been in a time or two before and had bad experiences with staff who really dont care about you, overpriced books, and mediocre food. We will not go back to any Third Place Books again.

6 stars. A great shopping experience from someone who doesnt enjoy shopping. If you in the area and/or need a fun place to meet up with someone this is your spot. Not many book stores have a public library below it. But I do fear for the long term survival of this store in our Amazon world. Please give them a try next time you are book shopping. Bring the whole family and have a great day.

I went for the first time the other day, and tried to find a few used books that I wanted. First off, only 20-25% of their books are actually used. I couldnt find the ones I wanted, so I bought 2 new ones. When I got home I removed the $14 price tag on each, and found that the printed price below the sticker was actually $9.99. Go there at your own risk.

They have McSweeneys. They mix old and new books on the shelves. Their prices are reasonable. They have sections on all sorts of alternative lifestyles. The magazines they offer are generally thoughtful. Theyve got tons of New Yorker merchandise. They have various satirical and generally off-color books. In short, theyre pretty cool.

This is the best bookstore I have been to in many years. They have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I love the little book reviews and staff pick information they put on random books. I did not need any assistance, but I listened to a very well read and knowledgeable staff direct customers patiently and well informed.

Awesome bookstore! They have a huge selection of books, both new and used, and its a great place to browse for interesting reading material or just hang out and study. There is a cafe upstairs and also a giant chess board! I love the huge window which lets in a lot of light. I can easily spend a couple hours here.

I love this bookstore. They have new books and used books for half the price right next to one another. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They also have a great section for kids with a large selection of books for all ages. Youll find a great book (or two or three ;-) at Third Place Books.

I love Third Place because they have excellent LIVE music every Friday and Saturday, drawing dancers from every demographic. Its a true COMMUNITY EVENT, with the warmth and good vibes palpable. I hear one can buy some books there too, plus hang out and socialize ;-))

A bookstore in the old fashioned manner: a large, open space devoted to books, lots of books. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Cultural events galore (signings and presentations) that help 3rd Place Books become a destination, not merely another retail store.

I love book stores, and this one is no exception. I like that they do accept trades, right now looking for music cds and text books. Helps that they are not too far from campus. Good selection and great prices. Will be going again.

Large store, they pay more than half price at the buy counter but are more selective about what they take. They dont have many books that would fit into the classic category (published in the 40s-60s), especially for children.

Third Place Books has a great selection of used and new books, and a great staff willing to look for anything you cant find on your own. Third Place Books also is a great place to eat or hang out with friends.

Third Place Books is one of the coziest, well-stocked book stores in be the area. It shares space with the wonderful Honey Bear Bakery, which means you can grab a cup of coffee and browse through books!

This is a great book store with a lovely "Commons" area with great food and a calm vibe. Get work done, have a coffee, and definitely try Honey Bear Bakerys BLT-A sandwich with the pesto aioli... Yum!

Great place to get books with Kids in tow. We did our shopping and enjoyed a light lunch while our daughter played in the little play area. Has that community charm to it, for sure!

Love this place. And a big thank you to Dean at the information desk for his help in finding a book but most importantly for the hug and compassion :)

Great bookstore and Community Commons area with food court and live music and dance floor. Music performed on the weekends. A great family place.
