I absolutely love this book store. I used to hop between Borders, Barnes and Noble, and Powells but now that Ive found this place, I dont think I can ever go back. Its much, much cheaper than other places and has the most books I have ever seen that has not been in a library. Its true that its kind of hard to find things, but theyre set up as a browsing store; not a grab and go thing. Its nice to find that those places still exist. The best part is that the employees are super helpful and understanding...and if you sweet talk them a little, youll get a discount. ;) When I first came into the store, tucked in on the side of Powell Blvd. that makes it very easy to miss, I had a few boxes of books to sell. I didnt get too much for it, but they were nice and it was painless. The last time I sold to Powells, I didnt get almost anything. I understand their system because they sell their books so cheap, and they gave me a good amount in trade so I got to dig into their alphabetized fiction section for a few hours. Seriously, if youve got the time to kill and an open mind about trying new things, Id go to this place. Theyre a small, independent business thats family owned, so there arent a bunch of people hustling and bustling around. Theyre super nice and will hold a conversation with you instead of just the traditional "Hi, how may I help you? Thank you, good bye." Definitely 5 stars and two thumbs up. :)

I love used book stores. This one has lots of books, but it is pretty clear that they have no idea what they have, nor are they interested in providing any customer service at all. I was looking for a particular book, but forgotten the authors name. I was told they could not help me without the authors name. The clerk refused to use the computer to google the book for the authors name for me. I finally found a spot where my phone got service and got the author myself. I went back to the clerk with the name of the book and the author and he told me to go look in the fiction section. It was a non fiction book. I asked if they carried non fiction, oh yes, but not by author name or book name, just slapped onto the shelf. I really got the impression that I was inconveniencing him by expecting help to find a book. I was told this is a browsing store. In other words, if you dont come in wanting anything in particular, dont mind walking up and down aisles with no rhyme or reason, then this is the store for you. The prices were not fabulous, so not sure why one wouldnt just go to Powells to browse. At least the clerks are friendly.

I agree with other poster. I had called this place at 7:00 and had asked if they sell vhs movies they said yes I asked when they closed they said 8 I asked how much per vhs they said range from .50-2.00 after that we hung up. I am 9 months pregnant and wanted to watch some Disney classics. I got in my car drove 30 mins away from home to get there to find that they had closed shop "early" once again, regardless that I had just called. For a family owed business youd think they would want money customers and good reviews, but there actions speak differently. I wasted a phone call gas and a hour of my time for no good reason when they could have simply told me they were closing early. Never will I return or recommend this place. God Bless!

They absolutely have a ton of books in their store. However, I had a hard time locating anything I was looking for because they were out of order or stacked in piles on the ground. I had to wait for the man working behind the counter to decide to stop gossiping with someone on his cell phone to ask for help. He then acted inconvenienced at having to help a customer. If you are looking for a good experience in a bookstore, I would suggest heading to Powells Hawthorne street location. Its about a mile away and definitely worth the journey.

Awesome, surprisingly large exclusively used book store. Check out the specials at the front ($.35 books, $.50 CDs) and then head into the piles (sometimes literally) of loosely categorized used books in the back. This is a dig-for-it kind of place -- as an old-school used bookstore should be -- but as long as you dont come in looking for one specific book, youll find something that fits (plus a lot of things youd never expect) pretty quickly. Theres a great shelf of Oregon-specific history books in the back, BTW.

Looking for a specific book and the owner questioned my reasoning for wanting to read one specific book. He asked "is that the only book you are ever going to read in your life?". What sort of question is that? A librarian or a professional book seller would never ask that question, the owner has a piss-poor attitude. Only reason its not a one star is because at least he is selling books for a living. Not sure how he keeps in business with his attitude towards people though.

The gentleman at the counter did seem a bit inconvenienced by our questions, however he did have an uncanny knowledge of how the store was categorized. Interesting place if you like to treasure hunt. The bathroom was pretty gross. As another reviewer said they have a well organized, low priced collection of classic literature, even Ibsen plays. Would definitely recommend if youre not looking for something specific. Will definitely go back.

Bingo is a wonderful, family owned and operated used book store! Feed your inner book nerd and visit the store with endless shelves that are filled with books galore. Whether you are looking to get a book for a good price, sell your old books or simply buy some classics that youve always wanted but never gotten around to buying it is a great experience for all book lovers. Stop in sometime and have fun!

I love this store.. only been in there once, and I never wanted to leave. Books for years!! Cheap too, $8 for for books, Borders and Powells got nothing on them (other than organization and service, but I didnt mind, I like being left to my own devices in a store like this.) Definitely coming back for more, Thnx again you guys!

Awful selection of Good Will reject books, cds, vhs tapes, and comics. None of the shelves are maintained and, to echo previous reviews, the clerk seemed inconvenienced by having customers. He spent the entire time talking loudly on his cell phone without acknowledging a single person in the store.

I wish I had gone to this shop first - it would have saved me time, gas, and a lot of money. Bingo has a wide selection of classics, and they were much cheaper than the other two used book shops I visited first.

It says clearly that it should be open right now and yet its not. I lugged two huge bags of books over here on my bike and the bus, a miserable, laborious journey, and theyre closed, no explanation why.

This bookstore was a good place to kill time. It has enormous variety of books. 5 months ago, I volunteered a place near here, When I was on my way to home and waited for bus, I used to drop here.
