OMG so i got in line to check out and the guy in front of me got so nicely treated by the cashier and when i got to check out. He was so rude to me. And when i was leaving the store I noticed that i was supposed to get 2 dollars back while he didnt even give me any money back. That ratchet hoe ruined that store for me. NEVER GO THERE IF YOU ARE A STUDENT. They think that like your gonna steal something. Like he was so disrespectful do you think i dont know how to count just cause Im a student? BTW hes the dude with like tattoos and had his ears pierced. Also had black hair. THE EMPLOYES ARE HELLA RUDE. THINK TWICE ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOUR HIRING RED APPLE!

Seriously over priced - Ive found a number of the same products at Whole Foods for a lower price. My most recent (and last) visit, the person who checked me out berated me for getting cash back without having spent their required five dollars. She told me shed allow it this time, because I slipped by her! When I ran my card to pay for my purchases, the machine asked me if I wanted cash back, so I hit the "yes" button. Clearly, MY fault! There are plenty of other options in the Central District - a Safeway and a Trader Joes not far away, and for cheap, the Grocery Outlet down MLK Blvd, so Ill not spend any more money at this place.

Several times weve bought ice cream at Red Apple, its completely crystallized, because they let it sit too long on the loading dock and it melts. Despite the melted ice cream running down the sides of the containers, someones stocking it in the freezer anyway, so the melted ice cream refreezes and turns crappy. Basically, you pay 7 dollars for the gourmet ice cream, and its the same quality as the 3 dollar ice milk they sell. They need to audit their stocking process or find out if someones just not doing their job in a timely way.

Not my normal grocery store, but had to stop by when I was in the neighborhood. They have some brands and items that I havent seen anywhere else, and the staff is warm and friendly. Things to look out for are the expiration dates. I noticed a couple items that were extremely close to their BEST-BY date, probably because these smaller stores dont have sales volume like the larger stores. Probably for that same reason, they dont stock much fruit and produce. But they do have most basic items, and the prices were fair.

Bad experience with the cashiers and also the night shift manager he is a min professional person and also hes never able to help costumers on what they need I just went in for baby formula he wasnt able to check if there was more even a couple of mean cashiers did the same they just want to be at the tilts and dont do nothing else when I asked for help they send me to the manager a crappy mood person that was really mean not buying from them hopefully they can do something about it.

This is my neighborhood store so I go here often for staples. If I didnt like the staff I doubt Id shop here. Its quirky, old, and well loved. It is seeing the end of its days as an independently owned grocer. Prices are super high at this Red Apple, those items Ill get elsewhere. More often than not they are playing really good music in there. So there is that. I add a star for having an interesting variety of healthier options that you would find at higher end stores.

Too expensive, poor selection. Weird attitudes by some customers who are not really from this area, yet acting as if this is Compton from the movies lol... the store doesnt really have much to offer unfortunately, the selection is very bland, no good deals ever. Nearby Madrona Grocery outlet has 3-4 times more choices for a quarter of the price that this Red apple has... The employees are very pleasant though. Always very prompt and nice.

Im not a beer drinker at heart but have found many varieties of good, but sometimes hard to find, labels (e.g., Chang of Thailand, Oskar Blues of Colorado) in addition to other limited edition microbrews. This selection rivals other expanded stores like PCC and wallingford QFC, and is a step above U-Village Safeway (which youd expect to be a home run). Good wine selection and in-store only labels for special pricing.

I come here fairly regularly for their reasonable prices and good selection of essential items. Every once in a while I come across a good deal or some bargain discounts, the service is usually friendly, too, so I feel like I am supporting locals with my business.

The prices of name brand items are a little higher than larger stores, but the store brands are reasonable, and the quality has been fine so far.. Cashier was nice and quick. The aisles are wide and well lit and organized. I should shop here more often.

Cant believe how high the prices are for how junky the place looks. Kombucha for $3.59? Deschutes 6 packs for $11? Campbells soup 10.75 oz for $1.79? I live across the street and still wont shop here again. Employees loud and annoying too.

This is our local supermarket. It has a good selection overall, though their organic offerings are relatively few (but growing slowly over time). Service is fine though checkout lines can be slow at times.

Very kind and helpful staff and management. Wide variety of food selection but customer base is a bit on the sketchy side; bottom line, great groceries, questionable area...

Great supermarket-good prices, growing selection of organic stuff, plus whoever orders the beer is doing a great job. Also good meat, and old timey sodas

Convenient hours, friendly workers, stocks a large portion of its store brand. Not as large as other grocery stores so they offer less variety of items.

We love this supermarket. No crowds, good prices and an overall great experience. Screw overpriced PFC and Safeway, our spot is Red Apple!

They dont have many different name brands or selections to choose from. Its not a store for a large family. But its convenient and there.

So said that this store will be closing mid September! Got to make way for Paul Allen to make more money with more high rise condos!
