Presentation, and environment was on point! This establishment serves molten dishes, cake, cookies, ice cream and milkshakes. The caramel sauces they have here are very creative but we did not like any of them. We tried the Sage, campfire, juniper berry, vegan, and scotch whiskey caramels. Husband and I tried the warmed peanut butter cookie with ice cream and caramel on top and it was the best tasting dessert Ive ever had. So many flavors and very sweet. With that said, I think next time I come here me and the husband will split it into 4ths because afterwards we felt so sick from all of the sugar. This is definitely not a place for those who want to indulge here regularly. So delicious, but so bad for your health. Really wish that they would cut down on the sugar. Ive never felt so sick from sugar before. Whatever caramel that was on top of our ice cream was fanatic. Our daughter had the peanut butter cup molten lava, hers came with ice cream and caramel on the side, she loved that but she did not like the molten. The husband and I also tried the molten and did not like it either. The person who helped us said that the most ordered things there are the warm cookie with ice cream and the double chocolate molten. Maybe we didnt like the peanut butter cup molten because of the caramel. I think next time if we come back and want to try a molten, we will try the double chocolate one. Will definitely be back for a cookie with ice cream a couple times a year.

Known for their Molten Cakes with Boozy Shakes and Floats! My favorite on the menu would be their Peanut Butter Cake with a chunk of surprise in the middle. It is enough to share if youre coming after dinner, but if youre feeling greedy...order one for yourself! The cake comes out in a piping hot mason jar and a scoop of ice cream on the side with sprinkles of peanut and peanut butter. Really amazing and really rich! Hot Cakes accept card and cash. If you use your card for payment, they will automatically ask for a tip, which is a little awkward. I always do custom tip because I dont believe in tipping until the end of my meals for the full experience. The decor is warm and rustic. Huge Cookies are also available here with a punch card to get a free cookie in the future, yum! Quick Facts: -you will be expected to clean after yourself -self serve water -one restroom available -dog bowl (water) available -outside benches Overall, a great place to stop by for your chocolate craving! Get there before 10PM Chocolate goo, goo, goodness!!!

Cakes are good to great. Milkshakes are very good. Grilled cheese is not worth it. Whole menu is expensive. Lots of hipsters and "beautiful people" who are a bit unfriendly. Loud music. Slow service. Long wait times. I can understand that the last three are part of their brand, but the structure of the kitchen is inefficient. You can still have a high end and mindful experience while being experienced and operationally smooth. Examples are bartenders who dont know how to make drinks and multiple people handling an order. One order taker, etc. Lastly, the wait and the lack of tables makes it so that you are pressured by new customers to quickly finish your food while others awkwardly wait in a crowded space. Changing the display area (low sales and still could offer a few of the most profitable things) to add more seats and having the staff be more effective so that food wait times are a little lower would probably have a more dramatic effect on turnover than they think.

This is a diabetic chocolate factory. Everything is delicious - but everything is ridiculously sweet. Borderline overly sweet. Ive had things from the drinking caramel, to smore desserts, cookies, and molten lava cakes - three bites and i want more but when that sugar high kicks in and you feel almost sick from eating so much - you take one more bite and then regret kicks in. The only saving grace from a diabetic coma is the shot of whole milk you can get on the side to wash the guilt and gluttony down. Share if you can - get one - get them all if you cant decide. But get it one way or another. They are usually open late too so its a great place to get some sweets before you try to sleep :)

Right when you walk in, youll feel that things are done right. From the menu to the attitude of the people that work there. Sure things are not perfect but things are thought out. After the excitement of figuring out how youre going to gain a few pounds, youre hit with the stress of figuring out where to sit. Amazingly youll realize that everyone will get seated by the time your food is ready. The chocolate molten cakes are a bit too sweet for me but you cant go to Disneyland and complain that everyone is too friendly.

Popular place. The service was quite slow, and our vegan molten chocolate was very undercooked. It had only the thinnest skin of cake and the rest was liquid. I didnt realize that this was due to it being undercooked until someone else complained and had theirs taken back and properly cooked, so there was a correct ratio of cake to molten chocolate. Too late for me, as I had already eaten the hot liquid. For the $12 that they charge, their cooks should be trained to cook them perfect every time.

We passed by Hot Cakes after dinner at Ballard Annex Oyster House. Intrigued by the long lines, we decided to check it out. We shared the dark decadence. The dark decadence is a chocolate molten cake with a side of vanilla ice cream, salted caramel drizzle, and bits of toffee. It was rich and chocolatey. The ice cream was a perfect balance. -Long line that moves fairly quickly -bus your table when youre done. all dishes go to the back left area -self serve water station

Hot Cakes is a cool spot in Ballard with amazing dessert. Its very slick looking with several tables and bar seating for you to enjoy your dessert. We ordered the peanut butter molten cake and a chocolate chip cookie. Both came with ice cream and both were very rich and amazing. If you are coming from dinner, one dessert should be enough for two people. Warning: They have free samples of smoked chocolate chips. Do not try it. It is NASTY!

Hot Cakes is my fav! My first to experience was at the Capitol Hill location during March when I was visiting. I was very reluctant to come in because I didnt believe the hype and I didnt know Seattles bakery scene is amazing! I had the dark decadence molten lava cake, a boozy milkshake and a delicious beer. The second trip I just made I fell in love with the cookies. I want to relocate just so Im able to get more goods from Hot Cakes.

After waiting in line for nearly 30 minutes, we were able to order our Cakes. We ordered their standard dark chocolate cake and their Smores cake. The dark chocolate was delicious and the Smores was kind of gross. Their smoked caramel sauce just tasted burnt... Other than ordering the smores, it was great time! It is a great place for underage people to feel like their are in a bar scene without actually being at a bar!

Hot cakes went from being a pretty good chocolatey explosion in the mouth for $6-7 to the most over-priced two-bite chocolate dessert for $10+. Seattles minimum wage hike is probably to blame, but Id be extremely disappointed if I came to hotcakes, spent $10-15, and got an overpriced lava-cake as my dessert. The hot cakes are not bad, but they also arent a premium to your typical restaurant dessert.
