Costco is Costco. Its great, I love it. Prices are the same, for the most part, or more, than the prices at Costco Canada. Beef, for example, was substantially more expensive than it is in Canada. My one big beef, though, yes, pun intended, is with the staff at the checkout. I was buying a child car seat for use at home in Canada. I spoke with three staff members and two supervisors, while asking them if Costco Canada would accept returns of a car seat bought in USA. It was quite clear that I was intending to use the item at home, in Canada, Unfortunately, not one of them knew enough to tell me that a car seat bought anywhere outside of Canada, can NOT be used in Canada. It wasnt fun at the border at 10:00 pm when my whole family, sleeping baby and all, were hauled out for secondary inspection, all because I declared the purchase of a car seat. I was allowed to keep the car seat, but was warned not to use it, unless I received the okay from ICBC. Their website says quite clearly and simply that if, "it is purchased outside of Canada, you can not use it." Costco said they would accept the return, at a reduced exchange rate and minus the state tax, and then they would throw it into the garbage. Great, all that BS at the border, then to find out I cant use it, and now Im going to lose money, and it gets chucked in the trash. Costco needs to get their staff educated on issues like this, because there are apparently a lot of "baby things" that are restricted to come across the Canadian border.

Last visit I was so disappointed with 2 of the employees who have worked there many years. They both need to be let go. One grabbed the front of my shopping cart giving it a spin as I was entering the narrow crowded doorway of the produce cooler. I wasnt prepared for her rude unannounced move. I am disabled. Have 2 cancers, had my elbow shattered, neck and back broken. I asked her please not to pull onto my cart as I had my reconstructed elbow resting on the handle while I pushed the cart with my other arm. She smarted off at me. Im 65 years old. If I was any younger and in good physical condition she would have been picking herself off of the floor and realizing she had a fat lip at the same time. She would certainly have had it coming to her! These employees have had those jobs a long, long time as I have been shopping there for 20+ years, but that doesnt mean they are worthy of having ANY job that deals with the public. She told me to, "Get out of the way and let Tom out of the cooler" as she grabbed my shopping cart giving it and me a spin as I was just entering the area. Once inside I saw Tom back in the corner of the cooler, no where near the doorway. Good thing I didnt fall. COSTCO pay attention to your employees!!!! They could cause you one big law suit. I will be watching this woman.

So this is the original Costco number one. Its large its busy and its always packed. They have the largest gas fueling station I believe out of any Costco in the area. They also have an amazing automatic car wash thats relatively cheap I think 7 Bucks. Parking is usually tricky I recommend parking not near the entrance but towards the gas station area because that generally has sufficient number of spots available and its closer than parking in front or around the west side of the building. When exiting theres two exits but only one will let you turn left back onto 4th Avenue if youre going to head back towards Seattle so be aware of that. The customer service at this Costco is probably some of the best customer service employees that the company employs. A word to the wise though it is one of the busiest Optical Costcos in the nation. So expect to wait at least an hour and if you want an eye exam dont try to go the same day cuz you wont be able to get in. Also this Costco is in notorious for people stealing carts if you dont have anything in it because theyre usually short cards cuz theres so many people in the store so throw something in it even if you dont want it that you can put back on a shelf later. Thats just a pro tip youre welcome!

Oh Costco, how I love thee. There are so many reasons that I love Costco in general, and this location in particular. Numbers one and two are parts of their corporate strategy. One, theyve made a commitment to paying their employees a living wage. Costco is not a place to be stuck and trapped, but rather a place you can build a career and a life around. They are to be commended for it. Two, max markup is 15%. Knowing that, I can look around at the shelves and items and feel like I am getting a good deal regardless of what it is. This Costco is a little particular. It is something of a flagship, although you wouldnt really know it by looking around. What makes it different is their product selection. Many more products are tried for the first time in this store, which is cool for the variety, but means that if theres something new you may never see it again. Probably the biggest bummer on that front is that they stopped selling the bbq brisket at the cafe. Oh well, it was good while it lasted. Costco is a mainstay for me but principally to stock our pantry. There are plenty of housewares and clothes and tools and furniture and electronics that I dont need, but I guess thats our collective problem, not just Costcos.

Best place to go shopping. Sells so much stuff in bulk making your bucks to muuuuuuuuuch farther. I got a 36 pack of Pepsi for 10 dollars. And the stuff you can buy is very good quality. And there is a huge verity of foods and stuff you can buy. Plus everything is super easy to find and see. The food court is so amazing. The food is super food quality and its super cheap too. The it fills you up too. Its really nice. Especially when you have low income jobs. You dont even to have to buy a lot of food. Just buy yourself a pizza and drink and your filled up in no time. And the absolute best part of Costco is their samples. If you wanna take the edge off of your hunger while your shopping, you can go to these different sample stations that are usually on these metal carts that are silver. You will notice them right away. You can snack on different samples and sample possible new foods you never had before. The workers are super nice and know very well what they are talking about. Costco makes you feel very much at home. And if the sample worker is not too busy, you can even strike up a lil conversation with them. Its wonderful. :) Costco is the number one place to go. I never have had a bad experience there.

Pros: - Service is always great. Return policy is solid and cashiers are always friendly - Cheap and fast food deli area - Good selection of liquors, wine, and single-bottle (22oz) beers - Ample parking and big hallways helps minimize the crowd effect - Gas prices seem to be the best in Seattle Cons: - Cost of the liquor has gotten very expensive over the last year, what appears to be a 20-30% increase in pricing across the board on scotch & bourbon. The savings are not as significant now as they were when they launched liquor. - Quality of the produce is good but not great. Whats up with the bananas always being green? - The savings are not often as great as they seem. On many of the items I typically get at grocery stores, I might save as much as a dollar per unit on some items but the savings are often much smaller than that. When I do save money, its often because the brand is inferior to my typical brand. You really need to know what to shop for to actually save money (bread and coffee, for instance). - A restrictive credit card policy (I believe they only accept MasterCard or Visa, but not both) - A restrictive family plan policy (I cant use my wifes card)
