Came here about a month ago looking for some backpacking food. Guy who "helped" me was clueless. Had no idea what freezedried backpacking food was or where to find it, had to ask another employee if they had any...Really, dude? Your working in a sporting goods store and you dont even know what you sell? Then it turned out they had only a very small selection and didnt have the Mountain House Granola with Blueberries I was looking for. Finally found what I was looking for at REI. Wont be going back to Big 5 for any backpacking/hiking related items. Should have just gone straight to REI and not wasted my time at Big 5. REI employees actually know what they sell in their store and can take you right to it. Get a clue, Big 5. Train your employees about your products.

Went in this about, 12 noon, Ask shoe sales person, what you have in a walking shoe. Size 8. He looks at me crazy, says he will check in the back. He comes back out and say to me we have nothing for you in a size 8. Not a one in the house. And say this always happen, when someone like you comes on my shift. I was up late last night. Whatever that suppose to mean. These poeple acting this way makes AMERICA DIRTY. Im a BLACK AMERICAN that will never go into another one of your stores. So if this is what you your salespeople on how to treat people of color, it worked. Your people represent, everything Bad about america. You should not get 1 star.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Went in to buy sunglasses and the 2 working just stood and talked. I walked up to the counter and asked if I could see them, he said yes and walked away. Apparently he was on BREAK!! I finally walked out. I will NEVER SHOP there again. I will go to Federal Way or Tacoma if I need anything. I know there are a lot more stores around that will take my money. Maybe they should train the employees about what their jobs are. They dont get paid to stand around and chit chat.

Loved the selection and the pricing. Compared to other chain sports stores in the area, Big 5 had them beat hands down. I got a pair of baseball cleats and pants for my 13 yr old for less than what just the cleats cost at other places. Went back the next day for my 12 yr old too.

Small storefront that packs a huge inventory punch. I was very impressed with the variety and sales, as well as the knowledgeable and personable staff. Will be returning for more outdoor gear soon!
