A cautionary tale. Visited for the first, and last, time on Monday. Short version: the owners are aggressive and verbally abusive. So much so that a police report was filed in case it happens again to anyone else. Long version: Ordered a chai (loose leaf I was so excited) from Chris, he left the bag in and said as much. My friend had a conversation with him about how black tea becomes bitter if over steeped. He replied that chai wasnt tea. She disagreed promising him that it was (she is a huge tea drinker). A few moments passed, the conversation over. He then said if she wanted to argue with him, she could leave his shop. WOW. We hadnt been aware that was an argument. This didnt sit well with me, I thought maybe it was everyone feeling on edge after the election? Like, what in the actual heck had just happened in there? Id never been party to anything of the sort. I went back in alone to say that I was sorry this had happened, and that I felt it was a shame and could have gone another way (after all, chai IS black tea, though I did not point this out). I was very calm, speaking quietly though there were still no other customers. Chris was raging from the start. Said my friend had been condescending. A matter of opinion, but I apologized again for that. I asked if maybe he had overheard us quietly discussing politics and maybe that was the actual issue (advisor and cabinet picks). He went insane. In-sane. Lost his marbles. At that point, so did his wife. She adamantly denied and was incredulous, angrily so. He raged that I dont know him, or what hes been through in his life. WOW. Trying to diffuse the situation further went nowhere. I excused myself and backed out slowly leaving my tea behind. Moments later, after I was in front of the barber shop on our way to the dog park, THEY FOLLOWED ME OUT OF THE STORE. Yelling and screaming that we were not welcome back. I was beyond shocked. I expressed as much at their aggression, after all, there was no danger of either of us returning to see these unstable people, and we had left the premises. I am not a confrontational person. Neither is my friend. We both enthusiastically support small businesses. This whole scene is still unbelievable to both of us. Total insanity. These folks need anger management.

This place is a hidden gem. I can be a bit of a coffee snob but I have to say that the coffee here is so smooth and fresh and you can really taste the difference because they freshly roast their coffee in house. The owners are sweet and the best customer service. Location is nice and quiet so you can relax and get a lot of work done if you need to and there are a lot of windows to let a lot of sunshine in and the view shows off beautiful trees and green grass. Its the best coffee shop in this area and if you are still on the hunt for the perfect coffee shop, stop by this coffee shop and you will not be disappointed!! Im thoroughly impressed and will continue to frequent this shop for all my coffee needs!! :)

Small, owner-operated businesses like Vint Hill Coffee make living in Brookside/Vint Hill a pleasure. Chris and Lori are both knowledgeable about coffee, and they love sharing their passion with the local community. ALL coffee sold in bulk and used in house is roasted onsite, so you cant get much more local than that. Great environment, knowledgeable and passionate owner-operators and a superior option to big box coffee purveyors. Do yourself a favor and pay these guys a visit. Youll be glad you did!

Chris made my friend a cup of chai and I asked about a timer. He told me chai wasnt tea and the tea bag could stay in. I told him respectfully that chai is black tea and if it oversteeps it will get bitter. He demanded we leave his shop. My friend tried to defuse the situation and he screamed at her too. Then he and his wife followed her out of the shop and continued to scream at her to never come back.

First, the coffee here is great. Deep roast and delicious. The owners are wonderful. Very warm, friendly and welcoming. The environment is also comfortable with a variety of seating and wonderful music playing. An overall wonderful place to spend some time relaxing.
