I have been a frequent customer of this location for approximately a year now, and when I mean frequent customer, I am in this store approximately once every two weeks. I go to this store to purchase new products, obtain service to my r/c vehicles, or seek advice on new installations for r/c kits. I am familiar strictly with the electric r/c aspect of this store, so I feel I should speak on this solely. While I am familiar at least on face value with most of the employees at this location, there are two employees who are absolutely outstanding when it comes to knowledge, customer service, dedication, and quality. First is Scott, who I believe plays a management role in the store. To the best of my knowledge he studied engineering in school and is absolutely outstanding. Never have I gone in there with a question or problem and had it unresolved, he will take time to work with you in order to find a solution to your problem. I have never had to play a guessing game with parts for my vehicle, I have always made my purchase with the confidence that the parts are correct. Next, there is Joey. Joey also works behind the r/c counter and is knowledgeable across the r/c spectrum but has a specific interest in flying. I am not a flyer myself, but the guy is always enthusiastic about his hobby and is always seen methodically assisting other customers with their questions or purchases. To anyone who is considering getting into r/c, or needs further proof regarding the staff, every Sunday prior to the store opening, they have what is called Sunday-Funday where anyone and everyone can go to the store, and in the parking lot in front of the store, people run their r/c vehicles, helicopters, etc. Its great because you get to interact with these people on a personal level and really see where their knowledge hits the grindstone. Oh!...and in regards to what a previous comment mentioned about high prices...I have never seen any r/c item in the store being listed for higher than what the msrp is. Any consumer, prior to purchase should always compare and contrast prices between what you can find at your LHS, and what you can find online. While it is true that you may at times find an item for $20.00 cheaper on-line, once you take into consideration the shipping costs for such item, it eventually becomes washed out. I hope this helps!! Thanks HTUSA-Broad!!

After continued issues with a Helion Animus (from what I surmise are product and user issues), we upgraded to the Helion Dominus. Couldnt be happier. This is the product that we should have purchased in the first place. My son, 8 years old, has been pleased and after two months of rigorous use, we are just now in need of repair. This product is extremely durable and more suited for our situation (a kid that wants to drive in his backyard over ramps, logs, and through dirt). This email is not just to relay our satisfaction, but to commend your staff for great customer service. I’ve been in a customer service role of some sort for over thirty years and have dealt with frustrated folks like myself over and over. ~I’ll take this moment to apologize for letting frustrations show as I did; my son really wanted to play with his car and his frustrations helped feed mine.~ Upon reflection, your staff has been great. They were doing all that they could to help me, but my vision was clouded. It’s really sad when your staff recognizes me when I come in the store and remember my name….that’s actually embarrassing…don’t want to be one of “those” customers. Charles in particular has been patient, accommodating and most helpful. He’s taken them time to explain operations to my son and tell him the pitfalls of use and particular repairs. He helped me provide a valuable lesson to my son on patience and how to treat and respect people. I used to dread trips to Hobbytown, but that has completely changed

This hobby store has a great selection of lots of different things. This store is divided into two parts, the back part is more dedicated for remote control, and has a number of models back there too. If you go there, I recommend avoiding the guy who generally works in the back with the RC stuff. He has a darker complexion and a gotee. His attitude was very presuming, smug, and short, but in a way I found it almost comical. I left the place wondering how the operation is able to stay in business, because I wouldnt expect too many to see it my way, and also wondering if the energy emanating from him was perhaps due to self-discontentment, or general apathy in dealing with absurd client questions on a daily basis. After enough prodding, I was able to get some semblance of what I needed. The older guy was really nice though. Prices are at the top. Not sure if they wheel and deal, but they do have a membership with discounts of $5 here or there. Like most retail specialty shops, I can see stores like this barely surviving on impulse buys and immediate necessity over better prices but longer waits from internet competitors. So all in all, the membership wont really get me to come back, just the need for some oddball part I cant wait 3 days in Fedex for.

The customer service experience can vary depending on who you deal with at this location. I have been there NUMEROUS times & get good & bad service. The older guy in the back, (assume manager) dark hair, is not very helpful & ALWAYS acts like he is annoyed if you have any kind of question. Recently, I called the broad street store looking for something in particular & they referred me to the Midlothian store, saying they had what I was looking for. I called Midlothian store & verified they did have the part in question & I had them hold it under my name & sent my wife to get it. When she returned, the part she had wasnt even close to being right. My problem is that Broad street cannot take the return. I have to drive all the way back to Midlothian to return something I no longer need, why not just let me return it at the Broad street location. Alot of running around for nothing, I ordered the part online & was same price even with the shipping. Im all for supporting the LHS but these guys are rude & dont care if they send you all over the place for nothing. Im glad theyre so busy they cant help anyone without attitude. They wont stay that way long.

My son is excited to get his first RC car, he researched and got a recommendation to get traxxas brand. When we got at the store the salesperson convinced us to get a Helion, he told us that it can raced with traxxas all day. He told us that , it has 30 day warranty and exchanges. My son got one saturday and raced on a damped track with his friends. All of them has traxxas, 10 minutes of playing his brand new helion stalled and stopped working. All of his friends RC are still working, it may have to do with damped weather it shorted some wires. We went back to the store and tried to exchange it. HERE COMES THE HORROR STORY. ALL SALES ARE FINAL NO RETURNS OR EXCHANGE ONCE YOU OPEN THE ITEM. It was nt explained to me when we bought the RC. The sales person on that day is very sarcastic and disrespectful , he pulled the sign of no return policy and literally shove it to our face! Lesson learned never buy anything from Hobby Town!
