Oh boy, where do I start? First I had contacted this "business" multiple times requesting further comments on a vehicle I was highly interested in purchasing. After numerous emails and disclosing that I was very interested in the vehicle but would be traveling about 4 hours to make the purchase, they would not further elaborate on the vehicle. They ignored my questions and simply replied "still available, see you tomorrow" and "everything is on the ad" when the ad only stated "One owner, well maintained" and nothing further. I thought it would be acceptable to inquire further info on the vehicle beyond the ad before driving 4 hours to see it for myself. The posted photos were nice but you cant always trust posted photos. I gave them a call before leaving with the amount they had specified on the phone that it would cost me out-the-door for the car. The maximum price if no negotiating would take place once arriving. I had the specified money in hand and set off on the 4 hour trip to look at, and more than likely purchase, unless some issue arose that would cause me to lose interest completely. I informed them I was en route and would be arriving in the afternoon. We were nearly at the car lot when I saw I had a missed phone call and a voicemail. I thought they must have called to see if I was nearby at the time. Nope! The voicemail consisted of a good bit of background noise before realizing they were leaving a voicemail (very unprofessional) and said "So yeah, the vehicle has been sold. Calling to let you know". Oh man was I LIVID. I called them back immediately and asked how they could have sold it when they knew I was on my way from 4 hours away. Said someone came in with cash and left with the vehicle. First come first serve. REALLY?! Then he said he just thought itd be common courtesy to let me know right away that it had been sold. Common courtesy and proper procedure (the right thing to have done) would have been to inform the man that someone was on their way from out of state and highly interested in purchasing the vehicle, BUT if the out of state buyer en route had decided against purchasing after test driving and viewing the vehicle that the man with cash also would be called immediately to make the purchase. Seems like GREED > COURTESY is all these guys are about, no respect, no consideration. Not only did I never get to see the car in person after driving multiple hours there and all the way back home but the whole fiasco cost us $50 in gas and a day of non stop driving for 8 hours for absolutely nothing. Lesson learned was to never drive out of state to look a car UNLESS they promise MULTIPLE TIMES to hold the car until you can make a decision before allowing others to walk in and drive off with a vehicle that a buyer from out of state is literally minutes way from arriving after hours on the road. Very sickening that they would put someone through a day of hell to make the same amount of cash they would have made by the end of that day anyway. Only had to wait 10 more minutes for the same amount of cash!! And like I mentioned if I had turned the purchase down they could have sold it immediately to the other man with cash and still moved the car and made the money they had specified as the out-the-door selling price. Simply heartless. Never again. What a heartless and extremely inconsiderate man. Save yourself from feeding these kind of unprofessional and greedy people and shop elsewhere. They arent worth your time. This is one place I would steer clear of at all costs. BEWARE! You have been warned! Run from these inconsiderate people!

It is my suspicion that Old Dominion Auto Sales and Mechanicsville Auto Sales, if not the same company operating under a different DBA, are at least run by the same individuals--and I hope that I am right. I had an excellent experience working with these guys a few years back and looking at their cars/ website, it looks to be the same great quality as I experienced then. Used car dealers get a bad reputation and its the customers responsibility to be clear, upfront and honest with the dealer when it comes to arranging delivery (including holding the car for the day, or in my case, allowing me to drive and buy the car before it had gone through their detailing process at my request), financing and choosing options. Used car dealers buy most of their cars from other big-box dealerships for a variety of reasons. It is the customers responsibility to assess whether, or not, the vehicle is in good enough shape to justify the often deeply discounted prices in which they are offered. The dealer has no idea, in most cases, how the car was treated beforehand and therefore, offers a warranty to cover expensive failures such as transmissions, etc. In my case, we bought a Civic Coupe MT and the car wasnt perfect--I knew it and the dealer knew it (granted, it hadnt gone through detail and he credited us the cost of doing such service), but I knew I could fix the cosmetic issues I saw in the car. The dealer offered a very competitive price on the exact car we were looking for, I got it RE-state inspected, checked over during that visit and took it home. I fixed the cosmetic issues myself and had the car professionally detailed. The car ran perfectly until it was totaled two years later because I ensured that it had been serviced by its previous owner (see Carfax) and maintained it according to the Users Manual after the sale. I hope these guys are the same ones I bought the Civic from, and if they are, would highly recommend them as business professionals and would do business with them again.

I bought a car here for my daughter in May. I made it clear that I wanted something economical as it was her first car. I understand that there was no warranty. Within two months I had to replace the front brakes. There is no way the brakes, which was the only thing on the state inspection that was checked as"replaced "could have worn down to bare metal in 3,000 miles. And if that wasnt enough, upon trying to remove a wheel one lug broke completely off because the threads were crossed and another lug was crossed and stripped! Im no certified mechanic, but Ive taken a wheel off of plenty of cars to know that when this wheel was put back on the" mechanic" knew what he did. Im thankful my daughter didnt catch a flat tire. The car itself runs fine despite this headache!

SCAM ARTIST THAT SELLS CARS WITH MANY PROBLEMS AND CARS SHOULDNT PASS STATE INSPECTION.....If you are to buy from this "Dealer" BEWARE, please drive the car to a personal mechanic before purchasing one of there cars. They sold me a car that needed a new transmission one year after buying it. There is no way I could do so much damage that I made a transmission go bad. Also the big part WHOEVER DOES THERE CAR INSPECTIONS SHOULD GET THERE MECHANICS LICENSE TAKING AWAY FROM THEM. My signal light needs a whole new switch! The high beams doesnt lock in place you have to hold it yourself. The car shouldnt have passed inspection with this problem, but it did from there lot! Shady Shady business! DONT waste your Time!
