I dont believe I have ever given a one star review before, for anything. But this poor rating is well-deserved. Today I had a completely unacceptable occurrence. I purchased something from the prepared food section, got it home and then noticed it was FOUR DAYS past date. I called the store and the person answering the phone said "Oh, well. Just bring it back and we will give you a fresh one, or credit your account." Not about to waste a half hour driving there and back for an $11 credit, I asked to speak to a manager. She offered me a credit AND another item if only I would bring it back. But she would not bend one bit about offering me a credit over the phone. If this had been the first time I had experienced this, I would probably not have bothered putting up this rating, but the same exact thing happened to me once before. Some meat I had purchased for a dinner party was spoiled. That meant my whole time frame for getting the dinner ready went out the window. I had to go out again (to another store) and buy more meat, etc. Would the manager do anything for me? Not a thing. Bring it back, he said and well give you something different. The lackadaisical attitude they have toward selling spoiled foods is simply amazing to me. It is not a question of the money wasted, the main inconvenience is that a task I thought I had completed was not complete, and to resolve the issue I would have to waste even more time and more energy. Not to mention that had I not noticed the food was spoiled, we could all have gotten really sick. I have not had these issues at the Vienna Whole Foods, meaning I have never discovered anything I bought there to be past date or spoiled. But customer service at the Falls Church store is disastrous. If you shop there, better check the date on everything while you are still in the store.

Got food poisoning. I had Salman Meal (cold grilled Salman, Balsamic mushroom and green beans) from the prepared food section at this location last night and got severe food poisoning. After 24hr I am still suffering from sever diarrhea, nausea and body ache. I reported this to the Health Department as well. I am a big fan of Wholefood. I eat and shop their stores all the time especially at the Fair Lakes location. But for sure I would never eat at this location anymore. This particular Wholefood has many issues. The prepared food quality is low (in my case the food was contaminated) and the way they handle it is unsafe. The hot bar is very unhealthy and doesnt look fresh; Fried Chicken, Macaroni and Cheese, Meatballs,.....You will never see Brown Rice, Fish, Steamed Vegetables...... The grilled chicken breast and the whole roasted chicken are normally red inside and taste and smell like raw meat. The eating area has no charm and looks worn down. The two TVs they have on the wall between the bathrooms!!! are usually broken. Most importantly, the prepared food section of this Wholefood needs a serious heath department inspection. But I doubt if anyone at Wholefood will listen. I hope the health department will do something about it before more people get food poisoning.

Without a doubt, Whole Foods has the best selection of organic and natural foods in the area. I eat gluten-free and their selection of gluten-free foods is excellent. They have many items such as breads, muffins, cookies, etc., that are made with other ingredients. In fact, their gluten-free cupcakes are as good as any you can get from a cupcake store. The people that work there are friendly and very helpful. Most of the time they have someone available to help with food supplements but best to know what you want and not rely on them for recommendations for any particular problem you might have. The only gripe I have is that they do not keep their eat-in area clean enough.. Many times, I have had to wipe off the tables of food left by the last person at that table. I dont think they have a person whose job it is to keep the area clean, but just get to it when they can. Other than that, while their prices are higher than regular grocery store items, if you eat organic and natural, this is the place to shop.

Dark, dirty, and just kind of lame. One star is generous. I have never had a good experience here. The store is clearly very poorly run and in need of new management. Most of the employees are rude and unresponsive. Every time Ive looked at the prepared foods they look terrible, like theyve been sitting for two or three days. Not appetizing at all! I have tried ordering cases of items from this location (Whole Foods offers discounts on full cases of many items) but never receive calls about when they come in. In fact I have never gotten any of the items Ive ordered. I never had these kinds of problems at the Reston or Vienna locations. Dont waste your time at this location. The Vienna store is only a few miles away, has a way nicer staff, and the store is much much cleaner. Before you consider shopping here, maybe there is something to the fact that every review of this store for the past year is one star.

My wife went to the Whole Foods in Falls Church to buy some nice fish for my birthday dinner. We were very disappointed and upset when that ordered two Red Snappers for $35 and asked for them to be fileted. Not only were the cuts jagged like they were done with a dull knife, but the filets were not deboned. Now maybe we should have asked to have it deboned rather than assume when it is fileted it is deboned, but we would expect someone that sells fish for a perceived quality store like Whole Foods, would either debone the fish already, or at least ask if she would like it deboned. To pay $35 for two fish and then have to spend a long time picking out the bones with tweezers, really ruined the whole experience. Is this the typical poor service to expect from this Whole Foods or was it just a mistake by the employee? Who knows. We emailed them to find out and will see if they respond.

Due to a recent snow storm (On Wednesday 1/20/16) I was left unable to get out of the parking lot at the whole foods. The store was full of people and I approached the doors a few minutes before they were supposed to close. They had already locked the doors and when I asked if I could simply come in to use the restroom very quickly I was VERY rudely told no and sneered at by the woman at customer service. As a new resident to this area I will make sure to NEVER shop at this whole foods. She completely lacked any human decency, I understand that when the store is busy employees can get agitated however I should not have been lashed out at due to her lack of composure. To refuse to let someone utilize the restroom during an emergency situation is in a word unacceptable.

Very poor management -- the worst Ive seen in any Whole Foods store. Long lines -- due to either insufficient staff or the staff working at the registers are extremely slow; hard to find people to ask a question and then most of the time they dont know the answer; carts are placed at the exit door instead of the entrance so customers have to walk back to get a cart. Obviously, the management is not making any efforts to cater to their customers or train their staff.
