In my opinion, this bookstore isnt bad when you have NO other book store to go to in the tri-city area. I tend to have an okay experience with the staff, but Im not going to be ignorant of the bad Ive dealt with too. I call the store and sometimes they act too preoccupied or busy to be bothered with your questions. There have been numerous occasions where they say there will be a call placed to let me know when a book I ordered comes in, but I never get the call. I have gone up to the cafe or register many times and received no service for well up to ten full minutes. Why? Because theyre all running to the back area for God knows what. Im tired of coming to this store and playing musical chairs with other customers too. Even after they have rearranged the store over three times, there still isnt enough seating for everyone unless you want to sit in the cold cafe area or on the hard benches in the magazine section. And why do I need to ask for someone to unlock the bathrooms? What kind of sense does that make? People can simply slip the chip device out of books in the aisles and walk out the front door, so locking the bathrooms doesnt solve anything. Their selection of books is very lacking, because nearly anything I ask for needs to be ordered. All in all, this is not an excellent bookstore but it isnt a horrible bookstore either. Its so in the middle I cant help but to just tolerate it or waste the gas to go to Barnes & Nobles.

When I walked in a worker there asked if I needed any help. I said I was there to purchase a gift for a friend -- a romance novel. He showed me where the romance section was. I asked if there was a top rated list, or best read novels. He said, "no, we have nothing like that." I asked if there was anyone who knew about the novels, "he said no, noone here knows about them." Okay, so I started looking on my own and found two. I took them to the guy and asked if he could look up reviews on the book. He said there were no reviews on either book. I then asked if there was a Books A Million in Concord, NC. He said he didnt know. The guy couldnt help me and didnt know anything so why is he up at the front greeting people saying, "do you need any help?" I left very disappointed and did not purchase anything. Maybe that is one reason the store is so empty.

This is honestly the worst Books-A-Million I have ever visited. The staff doesnt seem to care about this place at all, one staff member tried to give me excuses so that she wouldnt have to walk forty feet to show me what I was looking for. Her final excuse was -" nah, we aint got nuttin like dat, yall need to go to...Dollar General." Think about this for a minute. Dollar General. My prediction - this BAM location will be closed within a year unless they retool and reconsider their hiring and management practices.

I love this store! The staff is always great, and Im there all the time now. For those who complained about the bathrooms being locked, it was because they were vandalized so many times they needed to lock them, not because of theft. They are unlocked now. New manager started a while back and has been cleaning up employees who were lazy and disrespectful and fixing up the store.

This place has a lot of cool stuff. Great selection of books on par with other B&N. But this place has a lot more. They have general nerd stuff like figurines and games as well as toys. Plus its next to a toys r us so I like to think of this more for adults and teens and kid stuff is next door. Also they have a great graphic novel and manga section.

No science selection. Small 2 foot wide shelf area is all they had. Only containing Darwin and a few low-value reads. Mostly empty shelf space. Employees were in zombie mode. Dont ask how my day is going and then proceed to ignore me and not look me in the eye.

I waited by the cash register for five minutes and watched two employees walk by without saying a word to me. I couldve walked out with 50 bucks of books and no one wouldve known! I left them at register and walked out.

On vacation and look what I discover. What a place to be for an avid reader! Great selections. Discounted books are awesome. Yes I left with books....even on vacation! Clean. Fun, friendly helpful staff

The staff is great. I called to see if they had a book I wanted. The store worker walked to find the last copy in the store and kept it at the desk until I arrived. Best book store in town!

A large bookstore with a good selection. It is usually not busy there, so no line waits. Didnt come off quite as trendy as Barnes and Noble, the atmosphere is a bit dry.

nasty bathrooms, the place smells like they need to steam clean old vomit up. the few times Ive been in here it was packed with goths who were loud and obnoxious.
