I am about to give up on this place. Everybody was talking about it coming to Westover, as with the excitement for any new restaurant. However, in five attempts, I was only able to get food once. Visits or Attempted Visits: 1) The first time I stopped by, it was not open yet. While it no longer looked "under construction" there was no sign you could see from the road that they were not open yet. -disappointing 2) The second time was like the first, they looked open, people going in and out of the front door. I walked in and started to look around and then someone came up to me and said they were no open yet. -disappointed again 3) Yeah, finally success. I got a turkey sandwich and the food was good. Nice soft bread that was not too big and decent quality ingredients. Nothing superb, but good. 4) We went by after church at 10:45 am to pick up some sandwiches to bring home. We walked up to the sandwich counter where six people, no exaggeration, were making sandwiches. They looked at me and said, "this area does not open until 11am.". Really, six people making sandwiches, 3 other employees nearby, and the store would rather turn 4 people away than make and sell them four sandwiches when clearly everything was ready since they were making sandwiches while telling us this. -shocked and disappointed 5) We had a group of eight adults and 9 children that were going to order Italian store and bring it to the pool Sunday night, only to find out they were closed. Not really there fault but to only be able to get food one time out of five attempts has really left a sour taste in my mouth about this place. There are so many great options for food in Arlington, even in Westover, that the Italian Store just is not worth the hassle.

Wow this is good. Im not gonna try to act like a snob but I will....Im originally from Philadelphia so Id like to think I know a good hoagie from a bad one. I was a little nervous about this place since it contradict itself on its menu saying it had great Philly Subs. Right there they got it wrong with the name so I was sure that the sandwich itself would be a joke. I was surprised and wrong. This was a great italian sub and I would definitely go back. The price was a little more than I wanted to pay but youll get your moneys worth here. Big tip: Be sure to either call and order ahead or make sure you go early to get a number before you have to wait long. I would say I had to wait a good 20 minutes from when I got there until I ate. I also wish I could review on the rest of the restaurant because they have a great market for pastas and meats and cheese and veggies. Staff is ultra friendly and will make your sandwich however you like. Second tip: Be sure to get a slice of pepperoni pizza while you wait in line. Great slice of pizza!

This is the newer Italian Store but both are good. This one has a lot more space though. Sandwiches and pizza are phenomenal. If your taste in wines leans toward Italian wines there is no better place for selection. I mean BETTER than Total Wine in this category. Also, The Italian Store distinguishes itself with it selection of specialty food items both on the floor and in their cold space (where the selection is mind boggling as in "They have THAT?") The gelato is expensive and how many places have a fine wine on tap that cycles from time to time? Theres a reason why this place is almost never empty of people.

Authentic Italian crafted yumminess in all parts of the store. The deli has excellent bread (hard or soft) and very high quality meats. Sausage and peppers is superior and always sold out. Pizza (NY Style) is some of the best around. The crust is clean and buttery and toppings choices are excellent. Always a large selection of slices to choose from. Call ahead if you want a full pie as they require 30 min. The frozen ravioli and pasta selection is comprehensive and delicious. Cook it gently at home with their store sauce or make your own like I do. Gelato bar and tables to eat. The italian stoee is a must visit.

Great selection of authentic Italian groceries. Fantastic sandwiches made while-you-wait (take a number and know what you want when you are called... not quite Soup Nazi but lots of people are waiting! Patient staff will answer questions.) While in store made pizza or by the slice. Espresso bar, in store made gelato, wonderful fresh (refrigerated) take and heat entrees, fresh and frozen pastas, expansive wine selection. Seating at a few tables inside at tables and along front window at counter type shelf with stools. Ample outdoor seating. Street parking is sometimes hard to secure but is generally available.

Really excellent sandwiches and Pizza. As an expatriate New Yorker it is my duty to be fussy about pizza but Arlington has some other good pizza options, but I have never found a sandwich place to compare to The Italian Store. The Westover branch is much more convenient and has a big selection of imported Italian foods and wine. The coffee and gelato are also amazing but pricey. Note: to prevent future 2 star reviews (see above), google the operating hours. They are open Lunch to dinner 7 days a week, and I have been able to obtain food on every visit!

This new location Italian Store is great. Tons of room and very section has the area and attention it deserves. Coming from South Arlington, this location is much easier to get to and the waits are much shorter. However, I do miss the charm of the original location. I do agree that the pre-made sandwiches arent a good idea. They get real soggy with a horrible texture. Pro-tip: grab a number and wait for a personal sandwich maker to craft one for you. Absolutely worth it. The pizza is too die for. Grab a slice on the way out the door.

Ran by unprofessional teenagers. Arrived at the store near the closing time and requested an already made canoli. The gentleman at the counter said the bakery was closed and could not sell us one. Had other various inquires that were dismissed by other employees. Ordered sandwiches over the phone, all large, and one was a small. I called to notify them of the mistake and no one answered. Have been here multiple times and have never had a bad experience until now. Hopefully management is aware of how these specific employees act.

We are regulars at the original location on Lee Highway in Arlington. We recently try to the Westover location, and had several issues. One is that the full sized leaves of bread that they sell is left out uncovered and they were flies on the bread. Another is that theyre not as good as making subs there and didnt even ask if I wanted dressing so I didnt get any. Also the roll the sub was on was stale. This was the end of the day, but Ive never had that issue at the other location.

Do not purchase the pre-made hoagies/subs! These sit on the counter with the trimmings which then soak through and wet the Italian roll making it mushy and inedible. I had to remove the filling and put the filling between two pieces of bread in order to eat. I phoned Ricky the day manager who advised that he would prepare a freshly made hoagie/sub for me. He did not say whether or not he would charge me for the new hoagie/sub. Save your receipts!
