This place delivers quality coffee with a warming invitation to be a part of something bigger. Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters has some of the best coffee in this area, and they come from genuine roots. These folks know coffee and they focus on creating an experience for the customer. Brewed in Culpeper, VA and delivered fresh to DC, the local culture and appreciation for the community is one of my favorite parts in coming to this store. Try a pour over and feel free to get some work done before heading out. The furniture is well made and the open layout gives off a studio type of environment. They offer a separate "cupping" room filled with unique coffee equipment and books where you can come and learn about coffee as well as use the room for a more quiet place to sit down. Most importantly, the people of Commonwealth Joe are people you want to become friends with. They are passionate and genuinely want to hear your story, how best to serve you, and put a lot of time into giving back to the community. The Nitro Cold Brew trikes in the summer are perfect before you jump on the metro for work or when you want to conveniently grab some CWJ coffee in your neighborhood. Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters is the real deal. Excited to see them grow in the coming years..

Arlington deserves good coffee. So enter Commonwealth Joe! The companys flagship shop opened in late September 2016 in Pentagon City. Its attached to the Bartlett, a luxury apartment complex where residents gained a separate entrance to the coffee shop. The folks behind Commonwealth Joe also run the Java Shack, so theyre pretty big coffee lovers. Commonwealth Joe is particularly known for their nitro cold brew coffee, single-origin coffees, and pour-overs. If youre into architecture and design as much as coffee, Commonwealth Joe is a budding designers dream. I cant get over the simple, clean lines, gold accents, minimalist bookshelves, warm tones, and high ceilings. Theres a curtained-off section in the back that acts as a cupping room and can be rented out for business meetings. I had their craft mocha (large is $4.75) and it was very good. I also had some of their Skyline pour-over, which is a medium roast with notes of almond, chocolate, and honeysuckle. Their coffees are very distinctive. If youre a coffee snob, I have a feeling youll enjoy Commonwealth Joe. Plus, friendly and knowledgeable baristas! And free Wi-Fi! What more do you need?

I love this place. The coffee is great, the staff is amazing, and the ambiance is what you look for in a great coffee shop. Their cold brew is the best in the business, and they offer a selection crafted from different beans. They also have decaf, and its actually delicious, which proves that these folks know what theyre doing. Their pastry selection is top notch, all hand made at Junction bakery in Alexandria. The biscuit is unreal, youll end up dreaming about it. Overall, Ive been not so patiently waiting for this shop to open and now that it has it does not disappoint! The team works hard to deliver a next level coffee experience that you just cant get at any other shop in this area.

to be honest I could see customers service is good enough but what I hate is. Coffee is the worst coffee that I ever drink. I was the a daily customer. I bough from there almost a month. But since 1 week ago I feel I am drinking water not coffee. I also gave comment to staff there many days but they never change. We order ice coffee not ice water. Now I already recieved 10 stars and o earn free 1. And I will go again if there is nothing change I swear not to go there anyymore. If any body needs a comfortable place, free WiFi, relax, or nice place accommodation, I recommend to go this place. But if you are coffee lover and look for a real taste you should think again.

This by far the best coffee shop Ive found west of the Rockies. The space is open and full of light, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the coffee is delicious. In particular I must recommend the cold brew. For those of you who dont know, the extraction of coffee in cold water tends to amplify the more fruity and sweeter natural flavors in the coffee beans and the cold brew on tap here is a wonderful example of this. The fact that it is on nitro means you will get a rich viscosity along with your delicious flavor. Top all this off with locally made pastries and snack packs and you have a destination I will be heading to any time Im in DC.

I only started drinking coffee recently, when I discovered that cold brew contains far less acidity/bitterness than coffee that is brewed hot. Now Im obsessed, and Commonwealth Joes nitro cold brew is the best Ive had. I even convinced my office to install one of their kegerators, and it has changed the coffee game for everyone I work with. The nitrogen gives the coffee an extra smooth texture (like a Guinness) that is best served black, or in my opinion, with a heavy splash of chocolate almond milk. I cant wait to see what else they come up with, and am hoping they put their coffee lab to good use with group classes, etc.

I live over in DC and dont make it out to Crystal City too often, but that might change due to Commonwealth Joe. This place is a coffee lovers dream. The interiors of the space are absolutely gorgeous, and the coffee and service even better. Theres a Starbucks on the same block, and it doesnt hold a candle to Commonwealth Joe. The staff is remarkably knowledgeable about their craft, and they even have a stunning coffee lab built inside of the restaurant where they host classes and events. Couldnt recommend this place enough, and I cant wait for them to make their way over to the other side of the river.

Bomb coffee. Definitely a cool spot to grab a cup, sit and relax, read, work. Theres a cool little room with table and charging ports set off to the back right corner which works great as an impromptu office. Accessible from 12th Street or through the lobby of the Bartlett. Try out the cold brew or the pour over, the roasts seem to rotate. From what the barista explained, Commonwealth Joe roasts their own coffee and has roots that go back to a family run coffee farm in Colombia. Totally worth a visit. Prices were a bit less than you would typically pay in DC for pour-over.

I love this place! The coffee is great and their nitro cold brew coffee is awesome, the staff is friendly and passionate about coffee. Besides the place is very pretty and parking is really easy. Their locally roasted coffee is always fresh and delicious and I feel like doing the right thing by getting a cup of coffee from a place I know is supporting coffee farmers by buying directly from them like Commonwealth Joe does. I will pass by their coffee shop every time I get a chance!

Commonwealth Joe has everything I could ask for in a coffee shop. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. The coffee is locally roasted, always fresh, and they even have nitro cold brew which is delicious. The atmosphere is great also - its not too quiet or too loud, theres enough space to sit, and outlets to plug in your phone. This has quickly become one of my favorite coffee shops in the area.
