I have never felt so degraded or looked down on. I usually love finding bargains at the DI so when we were going rock climbing in Ogden Canyon we went out of our way to shop here. The exercise/yoga pants were more then they were at a normal store so when I asked the cashier if we could bring down the price, even fifty cents would have been sufficient, she literally looked down a me and said, "I dont make the prices." I thought well maybe she is just having a bad day so with a smile and positive attitude I said, "can we ask someone who does? I dont mind waiting." She sighed in annoyance and got the manager who was standing literally ten feet away. The manager came over. I very politely explained that I had the same pair of yoga pants and had bought them for a cheaper price and asked if we could lower the price on the used ones. I have never felt so degraded or looked down on. I am not one to get offended easily, but the look and how she said to me, "the prices have to stay where they are," with superiority made me want to cry. She literally looked at me like I was trash, a piece of garbage she didnt want to deal with. Please, please, do yourself a favor and choose a different DI to shop at. All the others I have been to had me leaving with a smile on my face even though I dont have a lot of money. It is nice to be treated like a person with worth. After all, isnt the worth of every soul great in the sight of the Lord?

They want too much for their crap and they dont like giving to people unless their Morman. Most of it is really worn, so watch what you buy. If you know something is damaged they dont give out bargains either. The teller has to call a manager and then they usually go down about 2 bucks on like a 20 dollar item. Dont feel bad about putting it back it a waste of money to buy something broken. Yep their return policy sucks too. Ive dropped tons of money at this store only to find out they test carelessly. Ive taken chances, bought something, then the batteries, only to find out it dont work. The DI will not return or refund. I think that this place is greedy so I donate to places that have better returns like the salvation army and Catholic Charities. Almost everything there is $1.00. At least they give freely to people in need no matter what they believe. I also recommend the YCC. Salvation army will also have 50% off sales store wide and they give to the homeless. Put you money where it counts the most. Then donate your gently used stuff to places that are reasonable in price.

This is a thrift shop, so caveat emptor. Some things are in worse shape than they appear, and every once in a while you get a dud. But having said that, the place is pretty organized for what it is, and the staff are very friendly. The pricing is very inconsistent, though. One week certain items will have uniform prices. The next week, prices for those same types of items will vary. Some weeks DVDs are $2.00, other weeks as high as $4.00. Video games for XBox and PS2 have been anywhere from $1.00 up to $5.00, and that for the same game sometimes! Pricing really seems to depend on whose job it is that week, rather than hard and fast rules. But like all thrift shops, there are still bargains to be found, and hunting for them is half the fun! There are a hard core group of customers who buy things to resell, who get there every day right as they open. They pick over a lot of the best bargains quick. As such I recommend early visits over afternoon or evening ones.

LOL @ people who are complaining about the prices being too high. I dont know which store youre shopping at? Also, complaining about the quality of the products at a thrift store is absolutely hilarious. Champagne taste on a bud light budget much? Oh yeah and also, there are outlets all over the store to test your electronics. And no one cares if you are "Morman" (as one reviewer puts it). Maybe some people would be surprised to know that there are plenty of non-LDS people that work at the store. I just had to come back to add to this after reading a review saying that the DI is greedy... Obviously they have no idea the amount of people that are able to have a steady job that wouldnt be able to get a job anywhere else because of handicaps or addictions or other issues in their life. The DI helps train people to succeed professionally and move on. This doesnt even go to mention their charitable donations and humanitarian aid they supply. Get real.

I shop here all the time but tonight I went in there with $12 to my name looking to purchase some dishes..pans...silverware. To help a mom with 5 kids who had lost everything to circumstances out of their control. I found 2 pans 6 each silverware 3 utensils... 8 am plastic bowls. I wanted to cry trying to find plates with the small amount of money I had left. I checked all the prices and took a moment to breath as I was upset I didnt have enough. I saw 2 men helping in furniture that looked official. A voice nudged me to ask them for help. I spoke with john and told him the situation. He immediately went to the dishes and piled plates lg med and am with Bowls in my cart. I asked how much he said $10 which they were worth $3 each. I counted the stuff in the cart and told him I had $12 . he said on $8 then ended up charging $5 it came to $11.53 . thank God for John. Thanks so much for your kindness.

As a current employee of the DI, I can say this, Some of the reviews on here that say we have crap things, you have to realize that we sell what we get donated. Where we are located we do not always get quality products. The people who say you buy stuff that doesnt work, in the back of the store we have an electronics testing station for that very reason, if you dont test it it is your fault. We do test and see if electronics will come on and they plug them into a tv to test also. "Basic shirts" are at most $4. If they have the original tags they will be higher. Jeans are around $6. As a cashier it is my job to know prices and these are pretty close to our current rates. Thank you to everyone who comes into the store! You guys are all amazing! (and if you are wondering i do also shop here every once and a while)

They stole property from me. I purchased a bed side table, that was the only item i went into buy. i found one that i loved. took the ticket to the front and bought it. pulled my car around to the back to pick it up and when they went to go find it, it was gone. some lady had taken the sold ticket to the counter calming she lost the ticket and they made no effort to try and find out if some one else had bought it. she didnt contact a manager or talk to the other cashiers. THEY SOLD MY PROPERTY WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION! THEY STOLE MY PROPERTY AND SOLD IT! WHICH IS VERY ILLEGAL!
