Central Market is indeed a great store. The variety is fantastic. Excellent selections in every department. Meats, fishes and produce are particularly impressive. When I want to do something a little more interesting for dinner, all I have to do is head over to Central Market and browse a bit and I will come away with something new to try. If you dont feel like cooking, the prepared foods (complete with an impressive soup/salad bar) will sate any appetite. In house bakery turns out some great products too. Im particular fond of the whole grain breads. New-ish to the store is a growler filling station. There is a cafe too, for prepared meals to eat here, either inside or on a very nice patio (which when the weather is right, often has live music on the weekends). The patio also has a nice play are for the kiddos. Ice cream and gelato shop always seem to have an interesting flavor to try, especially in Hatch Chile season, when they are also roasting the chilies out front (in that big rotating basket). In fact, at this time of year (starts in August if I recall) Hatch everything invades the store. Prices do seam to be on the high side, but I do think you are getting what you are paying for (meaning selection and quality). We have had very good luck in the fish section. Staff is always helpful. I will say I did not want to give 5 stars, but as I wrote this review I decided it really is the best in its class. As a guy who likes to walk, I love wander the isles looking to see whats new. I also like munching on the free samples, of which there are many (including coffee). The samples have resulted in an impulse buy many times. All in all, a great shopping experience.

So Yelp asked me what keeps me coming back to Central Market, and boy do I have a lot of reasons! First off, on a wonderful weather evening, its the perfect place to bring the kids, with a playground planted right between Central Market and Off-Broadway. It has a gate to the street, which makes it a little less likely that your munchkins will make a break for it. The kids love the playground, and parents can sit nearby and watch the kids go bonkers. And on Fridays (and maybe even other days), Central Market will sometimes have live music and a bar out on the patio. Doesnt get much better than that! Theres even a slightly enclosed and heated area on the patio, for those who dont want to be in the elements. Theres tons of seating all over, so you have a lot of options to watch over the crazy kids who are still going bonkers. Inside the market, you also have a restaurant off to the left. Order you some super-de-licious food, and take to the patio. Or eat inside, whichever you prefer. You can also order beer and wine from the restaurant as well. And then theres the market, where you cant go wrong. They have a ton of delicious eats, a deli, a good wine/beer selection, fresh flowers, beauty, gifts and about anything else you can imagine. If I could pick an all-time favorite place to do my grocery shopping, itd be Central Market, hands down. While youre there, pickup some treats/cookies from Mother Ruckers Sweets. I may or may not be related to the chef :).

NOT SAFE FOR KIDS. The playground at this Central Market is a completely unsupervised, no rules posted, total free-for-all. Low-class trailer park parents will drop their kids off at the playground and head inside for free samples, or worse, turn them loose while they get drunk at the bar thats 15 yards away. Result: Lord of the Flies. Ive seen a 12 year old karate-kick a toddler in the head, two elementary-age children playing tightrope on the top of a 15 plexiglass structure that crumbled and flexed under them, kids thrown from elevated platforms, and everything in between. Its utterly unfathomable that the management would willfully allow this level of liability to persist. They are either blissfully ignorant or deliberately trying to set their corporate office up for a tremendous lawsuit out of sheer malice. Either way, its completely beyond the pale of even the lowest level of low-rent parenting. But please, dont take my word for it: Go to this Central Market on a weekend evening, or a weekday when the weather is nice and theres a band, and look for yourself. Prepare to be shocked, appalled, and disgusted. Youll not be the first. And we will not be back.

What happened to this place! My wife and went to breakfast today at Central Market. What a disappointment. Central Market used to be awesome. They have cheapened everything and it shows. You no longer have the juices by the counter, you get a buzzer to come get your food when it is ready instead of having it brought to you, and the quality of the food was disappointing. My wifes ham looked like cheap deli slices that were too thin. It used to be thick cut and great. The syrup is now thin and watery. Dirty dishes were all over on empty tables. When I went to get jelly at the counter, a young lady pointed where to get them across the way. Six months ago this wouldnt have happen.....Im not a dog. What a shame, this place went from my favorite place for breakfast to poor service, mediocre food, and obviously unhappy employees. Bring back the old Central Market. Now you are just another grocery store with bad food and service.

This is the 3rd time Ive gotten spoiled food from their deli and seafood counters. I will never return here and will drive a little longer to get to the Central Market in Fort Worth. The first time I got spoiled food was the day before Thanksgiving... I got several sides from their deli and all of them were sour and spoiled. Thinking that was just an unlucky day, I returned again. The second time this happened was at the seafood counter. The fish was completely rancid. The third time happened yesterday - I bought a pound of crab that had gone bad and the remoulade sauce from the seafood counter was fizzy and turns out it was 3 days past the "sell by" date when they sold it to me! Obviously, they have a long way to go as far as food handling safety and you would have to pay me a lot of money to shop here again. Disgusting.

I shopped at the Dallas Central Market for 2 years and absolutely loved it. The entire staff, from the produce department to your cashier is friendly and warm. We recently moved and I was happy that Central Market in Southlake is only 5 minutes away. However, the shopping experience is VERY different. Of course, there are a few people I recognize each week that are great, but overall, the feel is very different. I have yet to have a cashier that says more than hi, whereas the Dallas location, theyll talk to you like a neighbor. There just isnt the same customer service level, which is why I shop at Central Market. Very disappointing...

H-E-B management team for Central Market shopping and catering has created an environment for delivering top quality and value of foods and service. You can expect to find the very best here. The staff members are very friendly and knowledgeable. The Central Market Cafe is another story. It shares the same high quality kitchen as the market deli and catering but the facility is managed poorly. Expect deteriorating floors, walls, and tables. Expect dirt and trash and neglect. Bench seats are caked and impregnated with fossilized food stuffs. Paint is peeling off walls and tables. Floor had gaps and holes packed with ancient grime.
