UPDATE: 05/19/2010 - the OWNER finally called me after I had called yet AGAIN to complain. He had the chance to earn my business back. But instead, was angry that I posted my experience online. He complained how difficult it was to run a small business (we can all agree about that), however he was confrontational and not interested in admitting that his cake was of poor quality. Nor was he interested in helping remedy the situation. He only wanted to berate me for posting my experience online. If anyone from his shop had called me back within the 10 days of the original call of complaint, I would not have felt compelled to address my concerns here. Let me state that at any point had his manager apologized for the terrible product and helped me find a solution, then this would have been an entirely different story. I had been a faithful customer for 2 yrs, but when they were faced with a problem, they treated me as if I had done something wrong. When you buy a product, the customer deserves satisfaction. When you are not satisfied, you return it - even to Walmart. But if you expect that, dont shop here. 05/11/2010 This place has the worst customer service possible, the most expensive cakes that taste like gardening dirt! They do not have any kind of refund policy that would help alleviate a terrible situation...such as bringing a cake to a party that tasted like sawdust and fell apart all over the guests!!! I cant tell you how awful the cake was that I bought...it was the worst thing I have ever tasted. I have never been more embarrassed. But even worse...they acted like it was my fault and refused to refund my money. They were too busy to call back, too rude to care and honestly the most obnoxious business I have ever had to deal with. I cannot stress enough...DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS BUSINESS!!! You will be sorely disappointed. I only wish I had looked up this review page before I ruined my best friends birthday with sawdust cake and threw all my money down the drain!

I have to be honest this was the worst mistake of my life I spent $50 dollars on a cake that I could have done!! I went there to order my nieces birthday cake ( Monster High) and over the phone the said they were experts and could do anything just as long as I took an image for them to see! So naively I went along and took my pictures well it all seem nice and perfect people seem friendly and the cakes looked nice ..boy was I in for a HUGE surprise I should have known the moment the cake started to cost me an arm and a leg( and it was not even decorated!!!) The young lady feed me all this crap cake that they were experts and could do the cake I even took in the edible image to them all they had to do was make a small round cake with black icing , purple triangles and little round hot pink icing on the bottom.Well when my brother in law brought it home I was beyond shocked the triangles looked like a 3 year old made them and the nice decoration on the bottom was only a quick ribbon decoration and the worst thing was they didnt even know how to put the image that I took on it, it was wrinkled and looked like they just slapped it on!! I am not kidding , by the look of the cake it looked like they forgot it and put it together with their feet!! and I called to complain and the " manager " was going to call me back I called at 2:04 and by 2:45 nothing I called back and they blew me off ..so I had a teary 6 yr old, a funky cake and that all cost me $50 bucks!!!thanks cake shop!!! And if you dont believe me I have pictures! I just pray it tastes good!!

I purchased a cake from the cake shop for my sons first bday. I brought in pictures of what we wanted the cake to look like and provided detailed instructions. When my wife picked up the cake she was very disappointed, I understood why once I had a chance to see it. It looked nothing like what we described, even the writing was not even and slanted across the side of the cake, I have seen better at HEB. They said they could make another cake but we were already running late with no time to waste so they offered my wife 40 dollars off. If I knew this was the quality I would have received I would have just gone to HEB. I called in after I saw the cake and the manager was busy and said they would call back, 4 almost 5 hours later I called back and the manager was gone. I had to call back again today however a manager was still not there. I just received a call back and the manager on duty is arguing with me. Apparently they can not follow directions even when provided a picture to go off of. This was a very important day and I am very disgusted with the quality of work and customer support I was provided. I will never come back to the cake shop nor recommend anyone else to this establishment. Thanks The Cake Shop for the horrible cake!!!!!! Oh and Natalie Q this is not me over exaggerating, this is me infuriated with the end product. Im not hard to please and if they were not able to do what i asked i wish they would have told me. I would have taken my business elsewere. I have pictures I would be happy to share!!!!!

WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!! If your thinking about ordering a cake from THE CAKE SHOP, DONT!!! I ordered a cake for my parents 30th wedding anniversary and it was crooked and not exactly what I ordered. The employee put on the order form what time we wanted it delivered, so my brother and I could both be there to see it beforehand to make sure it was right and what we wanted (beings that we had to pay for it when we placed the order). It was delivered before the specified time on the order form so I was not able to see it when it was dropped off. I called to talk to the manager/owner and it took him 3 days to call me back after calling and leaving several messages with my name and number. When he finally called me back he blamed the restaurant, he said it was perfect when it left the shop. I asked if he had a picture to show and prove to me that it was perfect and his reply was "no". He said they dont give refunds and there is nothing he can do. He kept talking over me and then proceeded to yell at me and call me a liar and then HUNG up on me!!! I would never have expected that a OWNER of a business would talk to anyone that way and provide that kind of customer service. He owns both shops in San Antonio, I-10 in the Colonande and Stone Oak. They already have complaints with the Better Business Bureau and soon to have another one. The more research I do, Im finding they have many customers that have had the same situation happen.

I purchased a 50th birthday cake and paid in full in advance. When I went to pick up the cake, it was missing $ 35 worth of fondant that I had paid for, and the big 50 that was supposed to be on top. When I complained, the owner offered me only the fondant money back, did not apologize, nothing, did not even offer to fix it. I advised him that I paid over $ 250 for a 50th birthday cake that was missing the 50, and the fondant swirls, and all he wanted to give me was the fondant money back? He said he didnt give refunds, that I "was lucky" he was giving me that, and that maybe I should learn not to pay in advance. WOW! Once I told the other customers in the store what he did and they started leaving, he decided that he would try to rectify the situation. I told him to have the cake at my house by a certain time, when he came in my home, the cake was a chopped up ridiculous mess, definitely not worth the money, nor able to be displayed. He disrespected me and my husband in our home, and then said he didnt give a damn, that "you people cant be made happy." I ended up having to make him leave, I was actually frightened of him and the ghetto woman he brought into my home. Cake shoppers BEWARE.
