The store is okay from a buyers perspective, the employees are friendly, but they seriously need to improve the efficiency of their sellback process. We brought a bag of books/DVDs to sell, maybe 20-30 of them, and last time it took them 90 minutes to make a measely $15 offer. We came again today to sell more and they kept us waiting about that long again for about the same amount of money. I wouldnt mind the wait except the store has nowhere to sit and they dont let you leave the store while they take their sweet time even though they take your phone number. They could just call me while I shop at nearby stores. Whats the worst that could happen? If someone doesnt return then you can keep their inventory AND your money. This was at like 12pm on a weekday and the store hardly had anyone in it. This is unacceptable. If you are here to sell, take your movies and books somewhere else, you will get more money (some of these were brand new never-read hardcover books and they gave me like 50 cents for them) and they wont think your time is less valuable than theirs. Even donating to the library is better, you may not get cash but at least youll get a tax deduction closer to what you actually paid for your in-good-shape stuff.

Horrible experience as Martin R. of Customer Care could not care less if their customer receives the completely wrong item that was ordered. Regardless of a policy, how can you ship an outdated copy of a book and still be ok with it. With shipments to the Armed Forces, it is expected to take extra time. I ordered online to only receive my book while I was on a Temporary Duty Assignment to Singapore to only find out when I came back after the 30 day return policy that it was an outdated version of the book which is useless to me and only costs half the price that I paid. Now I am forced to go spend more money just to get the book I originally ordered but this time it will be digital as there will be no way someone can send me the wrong book and not fix their mistake.

I remember HPB the way it was in the 80s. Books were everywhere...Sometimes stacked from floor to the ceiling. Every visit was a trip into unknown. These days are gone and HPB is a very different animal these days. All the books are neatly stacked on wooden shelving and theres a everpresent scent of corporate environment. However, the prices are great and one can still find some wonderful collectible volumes. This and other locations in town are awesome. A+

The Staff was very helpful and NICE. The "Manager" or whatever she is, however, was EXTREMELY rude when I had some questions. She was not as nice and helpful as her staff at all. She had short blonde hair, kind of butch looking. She may not know how to talk to people or to at least be friendly. Either way, I still found what I needed and I will go back!

I have never had a bad experience here. The employees are incredibly friendly and helpful, both in person and on the phone. They have a good selection of books, especially my favorite, True Crime and my boyfriend is never left unsatisfied in the Sci-Fi section. The only "bad" thing about this store is the fact that we NEVER leave empty handed! :)

Good place to buy books, but do not sell your items at this location ... I took a brand new math book with mymath lab card still wrapped and did not receive a fair buy price for it ... When I explained to the service rep that the My math lab alone is 100 alone she stated we are used book store ... please do not bring your items to this location

They have a great selection of good quality used books available. I have never walked out of the store without purchasing a few novels at a much cheaper price than the new price. Dont expect a fortune if you decide to sell your books here either. They give you a yard sale value.

Staff willing to go out of the way to help you find an item (even called all the other 1/2 price books to see if they had one). Store is oddly situated with bookshelves but its nice, spacious and user friendly. Great book selection!!

I love HPB this one in particular, they just remodeled and I think its awesome. It gives me a reason to keep going back and reexploring the store. The employees are fantastic and are always saying hello when that door rings.

Worst place to go to get any kind of money for your book. Brought in many new books in great condition and got offered next to nothing was told that they were all donation only. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Great books, cheap prices. Not good prices if you are selling, but its to be expected. Friendly staff, large Light Novel and Anime section. Cant recommend enough besides the fact that they are a tad disorganized.

They have always given a pretty fair price considering people dont buy books much these days. They give you an offer pretty quick as well so your not standing around very long. Employees always nice and helpful.

Very busy store with so much to offer. You may sign up for coupons and will receive them throughout the year. Very helpful, friendly staff. They have no problem helping one search for difficult to find books.

This is possibly the nicest Half Price Books in San Antonio, but be warned. Theyre also the most expensive. The same books I could get for $3 at the Half Price on 281 cost almost $7 at this one.

Great place to buy books and movies BUT I wouldnt recommend selling your books here. I got a total of $2.00 for 5 novels valued at $10.00/book and they were in brand new condition.

Books are too organized, theres a complete lack of employee rudeness, and as soon as you walk in you are greeted warmly. This place seriously has issues.

This is a great spot to browse for hours. They have a very wide selection, as well as a good amount of books on their clearance racks to sift through.

They always have new books coming in. The selection of music and videos is interesting because they are old and things you cant find at other places.
