Went into the runner store today. It was very busy. I was there for a little while did not mind the wait. A young man named John approached me and said have you been helped and I said no. He asked me what I was looking for. I told him what type of shoe I was wanting and why and that I was going to buy 4 pair of shoes today. He gave me several suggestions measured my foot and then went to find my shoes. I sat down and waited. Then this little girl came up flop down in front of me and said Johns niece came in and hes going to visit with her so Im going to take over for him. We dont have your shoe size so lets start over again tell me what youre looking for. I said so John is unavailable because hes visiting with his niece? She said yeah he hasnt seen her in a while and he wants to visit with her. So basically Im a customer and irrelevant? At this point I was a bit stund. So I decided that I didnt want any shoes. I got up ask for the owner she came out and very happily said well someone else can help you. I explained to her that I didnt feel like that was appropriate or professional and I didnt want anything and I left. I decided to call the owner back and discuss the situation with her. I was not going to make a scene. She explained to me that John had been out of town for 3 weeks and had not seen his niece and his mother was babysitting and wanted out of the house. So the busiest time of their day family comes up and the customer is not important. She said well were family owned and family is everything. I suppose I could understand this if I too did not own a family-owned business. I have always felt my customers always came first. Walking away and abandoning a customer is unprofessional and totally should be avoided. If you dont take care of your customers how do you expect to keep your business open? She explained to me that she was never going to be able to make me happy and thats where the conversation ended I will never go back to the runner store ever again.

Couldnt have been better ( : Did not know what to expect on the way to The Runner today. I figured over priced shoes and employees who are just trying to get you to buy something. I couldnt have been more wrong. When I walked in I was instantly helped by Dane. He ask me a few questions to help him figured out what I was looking for. Having low arches, shoe buying has always been and long and unfruitful endeavor. After explaining my problem and that I wanted to start running, he ask me If I would like for him to look at my feet and the way I walk to fit me in the best shoe. There is only a 10 dollar fitting charge if you do not order / purchase any shoes that day after being assessed and I would have gladly paid 10 any day than waist 100+ on the wrong shoe. Shortly after checking my gait, arch and amount of pronation, he came back with three shoes of which match my individual needs. The 2nd shoe I tried was the winner , never have thought shoes could be so comfy. So how much ?.. Im thinking ok here it is 200 - 250 - 175. My cost 120 before tax. So when I get home I go and look up the shoes that I just bought ( you know .... to check the overhead ) I couldnt even find a mark up, online they sell for 120... So to you The Runner I give you two thumbs up , or in this case Five Stars.... Great Shoes,Service,Price

My husband and I went to the runner last week and I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff, as well how knowledgeable that they were about all the shoes, the way they are made and what would best suit our feet. We were helped by Phil and he was incredible patient and kind, very personable as well. He helped us both find the shoes that would work the best for us. I was there for quite awhile and tried on a ton of different shoes and he was so sweet. He even had me bring up some of my shoes to examine them and see the wear pattern on them to best determine how I walked. I was so highly impressed with him and the entire staff at the runner. It was one of those experiences that you want to just go tell everyone about. I have told my friends and we will continue to go there for future purchases. If you are looking for supportive, well made shoes and want someone who knows the exact fit that works for you, go to them! Highly recommended!!!

Ordered running shoes from them and was told that as long as I tried the shoes on the tredmill I could return them if I didnt like them and that is exactly what I did. The shoes killed my ankles so I took them back only to be told that since I ordered them I could not return them but they would sell me different pair with a discount. I spent $119 on the first pair and was not about to spend another dollar at an establishment with deceptive practices. I would not recommend ever going to The Runner in Arlington unless you like to be lied to and ripped off.

My friend and I went into The Runner looking for shoes as we prepare to train for our first Half. Phil took his time working with both of us to assist us in finding the right shoes for our feet. He gave us great advice and information as prepare for this journey! I walked out with a great pair of shoes, and The Runner made a lifetime customer.

I love the personal service they provide to each customer. Kind & verrrry helpful. Also, I purchased 2 pair of orthopedic inserts for $5 more than the normal price I pay for 1 pair. One pair even had to be special ordered.

Theyre EXTREMELY helpful, and treat the customers with respect. Theyre not at all intimidating or talk down to people who arent built like you might expect a runner to look
