White Oak Manor Bed and Breakfast
Oh, the Jefferson General Store is like walking back in time. They also have an antique soda fountain where they really do serve up sodas, floats, ice-cream cones and even offer a cup of coffee for 5cents. Browsing isle after isle you cant help but feel like a big O kid again, they carry so many candies from the past its hard to list them all. Plus youll find items like hats, shirts, souvenirs, jams, jellies, cookbooks and even books about Jefferson Texas. Last year they opened up the back room stocked full of things for kids of all ages. My favorite is the fun lazer shooting gallery where you get points for hitting things like Dorothys ruby red slippers, John Waynes cowboy hat and even make a dinosaur roar. Oh by the way, dont leave without picking up at least one of the pecan pralines they make fresh right there in the store.

This place is like a welcoming home. My In-laws, my husband and I stop here in Jefferson on a weekend trip. And the day begun as a cold one. So first thing that came to mind was hot chocolate, and thank goodness they had some!! The place was absolutely stunning! So much merchandise I wanted to buy. And on the other hand there was a huge white fluffy cat name Sebastian that I wanted to keep for myself. :) ... I will definitely be back whenever its vacation again.

Very cool general store. Its large, well stocked, you can get draft root beer in a frosty mug to swig on while you roam the very large store. They have a wonderful selection of taffy, candy from yesteryear, t shirts, interesting toys, cute sign, canned preserves/honey butter etc etc. Very nice gentleman running the place. Had a great time looking around.

I would hazard to say that theres nowhere like this place. You can tell it was originally a straight-up general store from the olden days (based on the wooden floors/walls/ceiling), but now its full of a dazzling array of unique items. Every type of candy you can imagine. Strange knick-knacks. Its full of personality - and I love it!

This little store is everything. We ordered the root beer float which is made with Barqs and Blue Bell, and a nice frosty mug. They have about every type of old fashioned candy you can imagine. Lots of fun souvenirs and knick knacks. Oh and coffee is good and 5 cents a cup. Yep..Five Cents!

B & B owner said you could easily spend a couple of hours at this store. I didnt believe her but she was right. Incredible atmosphere with welcoming staff. The only general store Ive ever been to that Id make a trip back to town just to visit. Bear in mind I live about 6000 miles away!

We cant go through Jefferson without stopping here! The homemade pralines are amazing! We always buy at least a half-dozen, and many times they are making them while were there and we can watch. We also love the variety of jams, jellies, salsas and other products to sample.

Old soda fountain inside. All kinds of treats, sweets , eats and drinks. They have a wide variety of things for sale. From shoes& clothing to trinkets & what-nots. Books and specialty soaos & candles. I could easily spend an hour or more in here.

Wooden floors and walls. Yesteryear candies and toys along with newer things. Tshirts, flip flops, cookbooks, souvenirs. Theres something for everyone! We browsed the large store for at least a hour. Definitely worth a stop while in Jefferson.

I wish more places like this existed. Came into town late on a Friday and were greeted with a very helpful staff. Love the feel of the store as well as the products. I recommend coming to Jefferson just for this store, its worth seeing.

5 cent coffee. Candy of all kinds, gift items, etc. Love the bar area that you can sit at to order coffee for a nickel and food. There was even the oversized checkers you could sit and play. Nastalgic feel to it. Made me feel like a kid.

Such a great, historical atmosphere! They really make you feel like youre back in time, specifically pre Civil Rights era. Such great hospitality that they even follow you around the store :-)
