Please do not entrust the care of your pet to Petco grooming! On August 10, 2010 I had taken my Papillon named Winnie to Petco in Seekonk, MA to be groomed. Our usual groomer was not available so the appointment was booked with another Petco groomer. My dog seemed extremely distressed at pick-up time; she was crying and squirming while being handed over the counter into my arms. When I asked the groomer "Katie" what was wrong with my little dog? She replied: "Winnie is such a Drama Queen!" After leaving the store and arriving home I discovered that Winnie was in such pain that she was unable to move. I examined her more closely and noticed an enormous bruise covering almost the entire left side of her tiny body! Since being groomed at Petco Winnie has undergone four surgeries. The blackened area of skin had become necrotic and a large portion of her left side had to be removed. The surgeons treating Winnie believe her injury was caused by a thermal burn. Winnie’s pain has only just started to subside after weeks of hospital care. She walks with limited mobility in her left leg and her scares will stay with her forever. As for me; I will continue to live with the guilt of trusting Petco with my precious little companion.

Leaving this review because were moving soon and Im just now realizing how amazing THIS particular Petco is (other stores are not all so great...) The staff are amazing and I always enjoy seeing them. Theyll greet you with a sense of familiarity, kinda like a friend (if that makes sense). They seem to genuinely care about your animals (vs. other stores, where "robot employees do the bare minimum)... They ask about your pets, always remembering their names. The staff at THIS Petco are knowledgeable enough to answer questions and will help me find specific items... Any issues Ive had were quickly and kindly handled. Theyve gone out of their way to find solutions for me. Whenever you spend $100, Petco puts a $5 coupon on to your Pals card. We have an elderly cat & three dogs (8lbs, 50lbs, 80lbs). If you get Lauren your grooming will be excellent. The store itself has some problems. First: the prices are extremely high. If you shop frequently you can use coupons to offset some of this. If you prefer not to go online, and if the store is convenient. Second: the store is usually understaffed. I have shopped there at many times of the day, and on different days of the week and have had trouble finding help if I needed it. Third: there is one particular cashier I see often who said to me once that they were having some sort of contest and they wanted me to go online and rate them and she hoped I would give them 5s. .... not she hoped they had EARNED 5s. That is it in a nutshell. Not much extra effort to provide a high level of service, not a sense of checking you out quickly, finding what you need when you need it, or being pleasant and upbeat.

I had bought a bearded dragon on the 5th of august. My bearded dragon had been infected with yellow fungus, which has an incubation period of 2-5 weeks, and it is extremely contaigous and fatal. I call this petco to tell them and their manager, Alisha, pretty much told me that they would have noticed this problem if it is what it was. I now have to purchase a new 40 gallon breeder tank, a new hiding spot, a new basking spot, and my lightbulb has just blown out AFTER A MONTH. Petco, im very disappointed. You guys may not care about this issue, but coroprate sure does.

DO NOT GET YOU DOG GROOMED HERE. I dropped my 3 year old dog off at this groomer and when I came to pick her up the staff informed me that they had just nicked my dog. I ran to the back of the store where I found my small dog with a huge cut from her knee all the way up to her belly. I immediately drove her to the vet where they had to give my 9lb dog more than 10 stitches. She has been in a cone for 2 weeks while she healed from this traumatic incident. Dont let this happen to you find a different groomer.

The slanderous review by Lisa regarding the accused grooming incident contains much falsified information. The grooming was investigated by the MSPCA and local veterinarians. The final consensus was that Winnies injuries occurred as result of an insect bite, and was not grooming related. PETCO does not tolerate any kind of improper care of animals and the groomers in this salon certainly abide by this policy.

Have gotten two fancy goldfish and a hamster here. All have been good pets so far the fish are growing rapidly and very healthy, the hamster is a day old but so far so good he is very perky and seems to have been well taken care of and shown a lot of love. As far as products and such you could find a better deal online but its hard to beat a brick and mortar store if you need something in a pinch.

I have a small fish tank, and I only got fish from Petco because local fish stores were dirty and gross. The staff was very kind both times a got fish from them. But both times I ended up with fish that had ick. I will never shop there ever again. There is no reason that I should get fish that are sick from a big brand named store like petco.

I am an animal magnet and any pet store offering training for their kids is top notch. There is another new pet store two plazas over that has a setup where you can bath your pet...no charge...they also seem more health conscious than the other two stores, Petco and PetSmart.

You guys I volunteer at Petco and the are excellent people who do the best they can so give them a break because first off if they make a mistake you cant get mad at them because everyone makes mistakes, just so long as they learn from them. Plus they already have lots to do.

Liz in grooming is excellent with my dogs, I had a sick dog with a heart condition and Liz was very gentle with him. She should get 10 star from this company.
