I WAS RACIALLY PROFILED - It’s not every day I go into Hey beauty supply on Clark & Camp Wisdom in Duncanville. It’s rare. But every time I go into Hey beauty supply I’m never satisfied with the service. Days I’ll go in there, the employees never greet the customers or I feel as though I’m being watched. But today…today was different. I went to Hey beauty supply with one intention: To buy some hair grease. I was the only customer in the store so I felt like I was being watched anyway. Every aisle I went on. Every product I picked up, I could feel as though I was being watched. I went to every aisle sorting through the different products trying to find the right product for me. Picking up items, smelling them, reading the ingredients, looking at the price. You know… regular people stuff. When out of nowhere an employee approaches me, and ask that I get out. Now, I’m already bothered because I hate being watched. So, I turned around and replied, “For what reason?” He then says that he has me on camera stealing products. I told him that he didn’t have me on camera stealing products! Any product I picked up, I placed back on the shelf! He then has the audacity to ask to check my purse…. Boy, did I get loud at this point. I told him there was literally no way I was going to allow him to violate my privacy rights and search my purse for something I didn’t steal. So, after I refused to be purse checked he threatened to call the police. I told him to go ahead as I stood there with my purse held tight. Instead the lady employee insisted I go to the back to look at the footage. When I got to the back, he played the video of me picking an item up, leaning over to fix my fallen purse strap and then he paused it (so to anyone it practically looked like I put the product in my purse), but I’m no fool! I told him to continue playing the video! When he pressed play, the video showed me placing the item back on the shelf and then moving along. Boy was I mad! After proving my original point of not stealing, I told him that they WILL be hearing from me! He apologized and said that he didn’t know, but that was a lame excuse. I stormed out of the office and promised them that I will not be returning! This was a disgrace! As many times in the past I have given them my service and for them to accuse me of stealing has really infuriated me!! And to think the guy that caused all this commotion was the manager KAY. This was very stereotypical of Hey beauty supply. And I was not impressed ONE BIT
