Last night I visited Bijou Studio for the first time. It had been recommended to me by a friend who has several tattoos by Megan. After looking through the artists portfolios, at Bijou and at a few other tattoo shops in town, I decided to make an appointment with Paul Smith. I chose him because his favorite styles lined up well with my own. He specializes in Americana and Japanese style artwork. Also, you can see a lot of fine line work in his portfolio, which gives his tattoos a delicate edge that I really like. I made my appointment over the phone and came in two weeks later. Paul took a look at the reference pictures I brought in, and a sketch of what I had in mind. He took the raw material and created a drawing that I really loved, bringing the piece to a higher level than I had imagined on my own. Im really happy with the direction he took it. That evening he did the line work, which is already gorgeous. Ill be back in a few weeks to have the piece colored in. On a personal note, I just want to mention that Paul was super friendly, as was everyone else I met and dealt with on the phone. That is a big plus in my book when it comes to a tattoo studio. I felt right at home and totally comfortable through the whole experience. Id happily recommend Paul Smith and Bijou Studio to anyone.

I have plenty of tattoos, so Ive had a few experiences with tattoo "artists." Getting a tattoo from Matt has been by far the best. He is extremely professional and is an artist in the true sense of the word. He listens to what you want and has great ideas. He does outstanding work and I will definitely be going back to him in the near future. Great shop and a very relaxing environment; not anywhere near as hectic or in your face as some of the other shops Ive visited in Austin. He really deserves the five stars Ive rated him. i have always hated going to tattoo shops because i always felt like any time i went to a shop i was getting a bad vibe, like the artist thought i was a retard! thats why i never had any tattoos, but then i came across mad man matt. he is chill as an ice cube, and tattoos with such precision. ill go in there not knowing what i want and just kinda mumble around something that i kind of want and hell turn it into a masterpiece. thanks matt! yeeee haaaa

Paul Smith at Bijou has been my artist of choice in Austin. The nice thing at Bijou is that all the artists are excellent. Look through their portfolios and pick the artist that matches your style. The studio does throw an occasional party (its nice that the Liberty Bar is downstairs). These parties give the artists a chance to display other works of their art. I aoways enjoy stopping and saying hi to the staff.

Ive been looking for just the right artist to tattoo my left forearm. I was browsing Bijous website and found Billy. She was extremely professional and made my tattoo idea into something awesome. My wife got a simple tattoo with Megan. Its 5 circles, which we heard could be hard, but it came out well. Its my wifes 3rd tattoo but she got a little warm and nervous when she started. Megan was patient and calm until my wife was ready
