WORST BAKERY MANAGER EVER!!!! I had placed an order for birthday cup cake on 5/17 for a 5/24 birthday for my 2yr old. It was supposed to be a marble cake. I called on 5/22 to ask if the cake could be kept in warm weather and the manager checked the order and told me that there would be no issues. On 5/24, I called 90 minutes before pick-up to ask if I could come as per schedule and I was told that a marble cup cake was not possible and it had to be either chocolate or vanilla. I asked why I was not told about this earlier and the manager HEATHER lied through her teeth that she had called and left a message about this. I did not receive any calls or message but for the sake of the party going well, had to curtail my anger and deal with the situation. I rushed to the Tom Thumb bakery to make sure there was no other issues with the cake. The person at the bakery front was extremely courteous but then out came HEATHER. This is a person I am sure was a bully at high school and has ZERO PEOPLE SKILLS. She was not apologetic that the confusion could have been avoided had they told me about the cake when i placed the order and absolutely RUDE. The cake turned out okay and I have no complaints about the quality of the cake. But I was left with an extremely bitter taste after this experience. I have seen bad customer experiences but never before at a Tom Thumb. I will never ever go back to this or any Tom Thumb. If you are reading this review and have even an ounce of self-respect, please save yourself the humiliation of visiting the Tom Thumb bakery on McDermott and 75.

1. self checkout stands, I refuse to use them because they never read my club card, they are not capable of providing THE NUMBER ONE THING....CUSTOMER SERVICE. Every time I set foot in the McDermott Tom Thumb some one who is too lazy to man a register grabs my cart full of $250 to $300 worth of groceries and drags me to the self checkout. FOR WHAT YOU CHARGE FOR FOOD YOU BETTER BE CHECKING ME OUT AND DOING THE COOK PREP. 2. THERE IS MORE TO EAT IN THIS WORLD THAN FATTY BARBQUE, TEXMEX AND MEXICAN FOOD. Having moved back here from the North East Coast I find Texas grocery stores extremely limited in variety of produce especially, and extremely expensive. God I miss my Shoppers Food Warehouse! If you have never lived anywhere but Texas then you cant imagine the variety of food you are missing shopping around here. Today I paced for 15 mintues past the checkout stands in this store while 8 people grinned but no one manned a register. No customer service, no human being at the check out you are not getting my business. I am done shopping at Tom Thumb.

Great selection of high quality prepared foods. I dont really do my regular grocery shopping here, but when I am looking to purchase prepared foods for myself or for a gathering, this is my go-to. The store is clean, spacious, and their selection of prepared items runs the gamut from salads and soups, to sandwiches and entrees. Their selection of desserts is massive and tasty! The staff on weekends, the few times I have gone, seem preoccupied or disinterested. The checkout agents were rather dismissive. I now use self checkout so as to not bother with them. Great store, great products. I think I want to go today!

HIRE CASHIERS!!!! This Tom Thumb has terrible service. Half the time you go in the people in the check out area are standing around doing nothing. They expect you to go through the self check out which always jams and then the employees arent there to help. The other day - the last ever in the store I notice hundreds of bugs crawling and flying all over the bagels and donuts. I brough it to the attention of the employee behind the counter and she tells me "We know, we dont know what it is but there coming in the morning to spray." At that I left the store and havent been back since.

The guy in the deli department scooped my pasta dish with his hand. He was angry with me because I asked him to avoid the tomatoes. This is a regular request of mine, but the first time someone got angry over my request. I asked him to use the spoon which was present for dipping, but instead he walked over and got a new pair of gloves. He insisted on scooping with his hand as he complained about my request. I left all my groceries and went to Kroger.thanks, but no thanks.

Despite what people say, the associates & managers go out of their way too help the customers and if you are trying too find any thing, they will show you where the item is. Check out is fast and when the cashier is backed up, some one comes and opens a new register. That is excellent service. If you want too try some thing in the bakery, deli or produce, you can sample any thing. This is my favorite place too shop.

Thw have moved items, no longer whole bean community coffee and other items that I have been buying for 15 years. Hard to find anyone for help. Waited over 10 minutes to speak with the manager. Had ask 3 times to get him. Poor service, product selection and they appear not to real be concerned.

I called this morning to order a cake for my friends birthday tonight. Cake was ready in time and delicious! Not to mention it was beautifully detailed and decorated!! Thank you so much to the Bakery!! You guys did an awesome job.

Just left store deli guy rude and very rushed, cashier only spoke a couple words did not thank me. Obviously serious lack in customer relations skills, problems like these start at the top. I wont do business here again.

Shop here often and always go though the self check out. Seems the person who they seem to always place on supervising these are never around when you need them. More than once Ive had to look for someone to help me.

I shop here several times per week and always have a good experience. Store is clean and has everything I need. If I had to name one place they could improve - itd be customer service. Not that its bad by any means.
