We desperately wanted to love Porcellinos. We love Hog and Hominy but could never catch Porcellinos open (we live in another state but are frequently in Memphis for business). We had drinks here Friday night, Wonderful, great staff and the menu looked great. We came back Sunday for brunch. At 1st everything was fine, slow to get drinks but no big deal. We ordered food with my husband making a special request for his bagel w/lox-no cream cheese but sliced avocado. We were assured this was not a problem. An hour later one of our friends meal comes out, everything looks good, 5 minutes later part of my meal came, another 5 minutes and the bagel comes, the only thing on it was smashed avocado. He sends it back, a few minutes later it comes back with the lox and other stuff but no sliced avocado. At that point he takes it into the restaurant where he is told they dont have sliced avocado by the server who assured him it was not a problem. He said fine, I dont want it. A few minutes later it comes out with sliced avocado. He took a bite and the smashed avocado was still on it. So this sandwich had been going back and forth for well over an hour, soggy and gross. Our 4th friend had still not received any food. We inquire, it comes out with scrambled eggs not over medium, raw sausage no bacon. At this point my husband, who never complains at restaurants asks for the manager. The manager comes and did not seem to really care. He did take the 2 wrong meals off our tab and kind of shrugged. Not good customer service. Hopefully my husband will give them a try in the future but it certainly wont be for any business dinners. For what its worth we didnt tip great but we didnt stiff the guy, either.

Found myself at Porcellinos based on coffee reviews in Memphis. Imagine my surprise when I saw it was a artisan butcher shop that serves amazing food as well. First my pourover was fantastic! They had three beans to choose from with a range of flavor notes. I was there with two other people and we were all happy with our coffee choice. We decided we should share some food and the wait staff was very knowledgeable and helpful (almost too nice). The breakfast sausage was really tasty! It is a bit spicy but amazing. The Asian ribs might have been the best bbq we had in Memphis and the Asian/Southern pork belly and collard green dumplings were out of this world. We ended the meal sharing the cinnamon bread pudding with chocolate gelato. My father is a bread pudding Aficionado and he said it was the best hes ever had. I also forgot to mention that during our meal the head chef and pastry chef came out to chat with us. I cant say enough about our experience! Im looking forward to trying the owners other two restaurants.

Our first experience at Porcellinos Craft Butcher was well over a year ago. Since then we have been visiting on a weekly basis. Coffee is fantastic, pastries are to die for (especially the pecan croissant), the quiche is constantly changing and is served with a perfectly salted arugula salad, the biscuit sandwiches are a new twist on an old classic, too many other yummy dishes to describe and the menu is updated regularly. We have never had anything that was not worthy of ordering. Atmosphere is similar to a Paris cafe with much better service. The butcher shop has a nice selection of typical and unusual cuts of meat. Try the half & half burgers which are half beef and half pork (half of the pork consisting of bacon). Take them home to grill and you will become addicted. As a well-travelled individual, I am surprised and delighted to have such ecxcellence in Memphis!

Went for brunch on Sunday. Had the bagel with lox. Simple dish, but elevated with high quality salmon, an infused cream cheese, and capers that were better than capers usually are. We have been here repeatedly, and the food is always top notch. The prices also arent bad, and for an elevated lunch where you still dont feel awkward wearing jeans, this or Hog and Hominy are the places to go. Which you choose is usually a matter of preference, but I do like to be able to walk over and take a look at the meats and whatnot. If you are looking for an equivalent in another city, it is kind of like Cochin Butcher in New Orleans, but with a menu that leans a bit less towards dinner style entrees and more toward sandwiches, less on small plates. The charcuterie plate is very good at both places.

I have been to Porcellino three times, for brunch, lunch and dinner. The first experience was so pleasant that I wanted to try the three different menus. The staff has always been very warm and knowledgeable about the food. The charcuterie plate was delicious (included the homemade pickles) and the crab and citrus salad was very fresh. For dinner, I got the Newman farm ribs, so tasteful, and I shared a juicy T-bone steak. It is the butcher shop restaurant to go if you are in Memphis.

Food is great and the service is solid. The noise level is unbearable! Two people sitting side by side (not across from each other) struggle to have a conversation during dinner. We left feeling like we had been beaten! The experience was exhausting. This is a trend (style?) across almost all Michael and Andrew Memphis restaurants (personal experiences). Impossible to enjoy a meal except at M &A Italian Kitchen and we have dined at all of their Memphis venues.

Ive had issues with consultancy here at Porcellinos. Some days Ill get very excellent food, and others my sandwich will be made with stale and soggy bread. I keep going back, hoping that my issues have only been isolated events, but more often than not Im disappointed with my purchase. However, they do have excellent coffee (try a pourover of their Relevant Roasters Coffee) and their service has always been friendly and accommodating.

We came here for lunch today with a gift certificate. We had the meat and cheese appetizer. It had three different types of meat and three different types of cheeses along with bread and kimchi. It was very good. I had the Johnny Utah burger and it was and exceptional hamburger. My wife had the poached eggs on grits with bacon gravy. She all but licked the plate. Great service.

Unique in craft butcher menu in Memphis Only open for breakfast and lunch. Gets a bit noisy-- tile, drywall reflect the sound really well. Probably could use some audio design to dampen the noise. I usually order by pointing to an item on the menu. Not a good place to hold a conversation-- but the food is great 5 stars!!

This restaurant is overrated....perhaps it is because everything seems to be made at the restaurant, Im not sure about that. The portions are so small that you will have to eat at home. Go without saying that I spect something more inexpensive, reading the menu in a photocopy. Sincerely not my next choice.

Had dinner here once. We ordered cheese plate app, very good. Steak with lemon pepper seasoning was also good. Forgot what my wife had, but I liked hers better then mine (doing this review several months after we ate here). Outside sitting atmosphere is good.
