I am giving this business 3 stars only because of the knowledge the employees have about guns. The thing that bothers me about Franklin Gun Shop is the prices. I will take full responsibility for the last purchase with them but still think they should not do business the way they did with me. I didnt even research other gun shops when I wanted to buy a new 9mm because I figured they were the best place to go to. I went in and the salesperson sold me a 9mm pistol that said it was new, close to Retail price. A couple of days later I showed the gun to a couple of friends that know guns well and they told me the gun was used. I had not put a round in it yet and of course had not shot the gun. You could see the wear on the outside and the inside had wear marks. I called the salesperson back and he made several excuses about why he sold me a used gun as new. He eventually had me talk the to owner. The owner told me to bring the gun back and he would exchange it for a new one. Before I took it back I did what I should have done from the start. I researched other stores and found that Franklin Gun Shop was selling this particular gun for $80 to $100 more than anyone else in the area. I made a list and took it with me. When I got there the owner exchanged guns and then asked for another $10 plus another $10 for the new background check. I was also told that their store policy was "NO RETURNS". So I either paid an extra $10 over retail and the extra $10 for a new background check or keep the first gun that was sold as new but was actually used. I paid the extra $20 and left. It seems this gun shop just waits for people to walk in that arent as knowledgeable as others and take advantage of them. They should have been apologizing all over the place for trying to pull something over on someone like they did me and getting called out for it. So let me take this time to say I will never buy anything from them again and suggest that if you are in the market for a new gun CALL OTHER GUN SHOPS IN THE AREA FIRST!

I have purchased multiple firearms through the Franklin Gun Shop. Rifles and handguns. And their customer service has always been top notch. The best I have found at any business, not even just firearm related. They have always done me solid. So when I went over this past weekend and purchased a new pistol, imagine my shock when there was a problem. I purchased a Springfield XDs that is a smaller pistol meant for more of a concealed carry. And while I was purchasing it for that reason, I still needed the extended magazine because it just wasnt comfortable otherwise. The sales associate told me that the pistol itself came with two of the regular magazines but showed me the extended one they had for sale. I purchased both and went home. After getting home and looking through the paperwork, I discovered that an extended magazine should have come with my weapon rather than me having to purchase it separately. So I sent an email to the store expressing my dissatisfaction with the situation. This was after close of business on Saturday. They are closed Sunday and Monday but first thing Tuesday morning before he even made it into the shop, I got an email from Mike apologizing for the screw up. He apologized numerous times and gave me a ton of options for how to resolve the mix-up. This allowed me to choose which was the best option for me and it was quickly handled. His email to me showed me an owner that cared about his customers and their happiness. The options let me know that he didnt just see this as a "whatever" thing and just give me the same old line of "come in and well fix it". I have been repeatedly shown that level of customer care from these guys in some way with every firearm I have purchased from there and that is why I will continue to buy all my firearms and accessories from there no matter how far out of my way I have to go to do it.

One of the largest gun selections in the state…..however…..you will NOT experience professional customer service here and many of the sales associates are just plain rude. Deriving from previous posts and as a business owner myself, this seems to be a top down issue. My latest experience (not my only negative experience): My wife is a shooter and was/is in the market for a CCW. As responsible gun owners, collectors, and shooters, we of course had a narrow idea regarding the caliber, frame size, and brands she was looking for. All we needed to do was have her figure out which one was most comfortable in her hand. We were able to do so due to the large inventory… The problem is that not one, but two different sales associates offered us little in the way of customer service but very much in the form of condescending, disinterested tones….all to my wife. FYI: The female firearm market is the fastest growing area of the industry. She was interrupted twice while describing to the clerk what she was there for…funny thing is…I bet she shoots better groups than most of them there. Example: She spoke of a thumb safety and before she could finish her sentence…the clerk interrupted and led her to the front of the store to show her…gun safes…WAY off course… The 2nd gave her the ole “I just farted” look when she asked to see the LC9…a reputable firearm by the way. The prices are a bit high on the sticker, but I have been able to get fair deals there before. We did make a decision as to which firearm to get her…we just opted to order the gun via gunbroker and have it sent to our local FFL 35 miles away. And yes…this is a free country…so I am free to use the store as a showroom and make my purchases from other outlets…al la gunbroker or have my local, much smaller dealer, order my linking’s.

Some years back I had talked to Brian (the owner) over the phone on a particular gun. I told him what I could get the gun for elsewhere and that I would pay him $100 more OTD to keep the business locally. I asked if he would come within $100 OTD of the price. He agreed to do that after I had made it clear that I wanted a $100 OTD difference. I drove almost seventy-five miles one way to pick up the gun. When he started to write it up he added tax and FFL transfer. When I told him that we had agreed on an OTD price he became very belligerent, almost screaming at me so that the whole store could hear it. If anyone should have been upset it was the one who had to make a one hundred fifty mile round trip needlessly. Prior to that I had put a very rare - expensive gun on consignment to him. I called several times to see if it had been sold and was always told no. Finally I stopped in and asked to pick up my gun. After some time he finally wrote me a check. My gun had been sold for a long time but he "just hadnt gotten around to getting back with me". As mentioned in other reviews the staff treat normal customers like dirt and prices are ridiculously high. If it werent for such customer abuse it would be almost like a free gun show as they do have LOTS of stuff. If you have any self respect shy away.
