On 12/12/12, I called inquiring about Westvleteren 12s availability. This is a Belgian Quad that Total Wine agreed to pick up from Shelton Brothers, and was only available for that day of sales while supplies last. I called, was told there were still twenty-five units left, and told them to "hold one unit, I am driving from Savannah GA and it will take me two hours to reach your location." I was assured it would be available. When I arrived no unit was set aside and when I asked to speak with a manager on duty, I was lied to in my face by the front clerk woman, saying he was receiving a wine order at 7:00 PM - after which this woman tried to sell me a case that went retail $84.99 in her store for $200 through a third party friend. I work in a liquor and package shop in Savannah and know that all incoming orders are well received and completed by 4:00 PM. I was lied to and no effort to help with customer support was provided. I wasnt even interested in them compensating my gas expenditure for the evening. My advice? Skip over this shop if youre looking for something a smaller shop could provide if they can get what you want.

When I looked this place up, I was a little hesitant to go in because of all the bad reviews. At one point, I even told my brother that we shouldnt ask for help because the reviews suggested otherwise. However, as soon as I said that, a worker came up and asked if we were looking for anything in particular. We asked if they had any local beer collections and he promptly pointed us to the appropriate area and even made several suggestions. Overall, customer service was a strong point during my visit. Aside from that, what more could you want from a liquor store? It has rows and rows of all sorts of fine wines and craft beer. I could get lost in there for hours. Great selections from relatively cheap craft beer up to $30 40oz. cans. Also very cool that they have a tap section to fill up growlers. Must have had a least 15 different kinds of beers that could be put into a growler. Would definitely go back to this place (and most likely will while Im here visiting family), and would also recommend it to anyone looking for quality alcohol.

My friend and I are not from Charleston but were attending a very special weekend with friends. We stopped at Total Wine on Sat Dec 7, 2012. The place was confusing but we found our wine and then when looking for wine glasses we were rudely sent by the wine taster to an aisle that had no wine glasses and when asked again he was even more rude. We then went to check out and the cashier was just as rude. Saying "just push the cart down to me, push it down here I said or I cant check you out" No thank you for purchasing over 150.00 and no come again. I will never go to any Total Wine cause they are Total Awful.

Make sure you call ahead if there is a bottle of wine that you REALLY want. Dont trust their online inventory information. I drove all the way to the store only to be told that the wine I wanted was in inventory but it was on hold for someone else. Needless to say I was pretty pissed. So, I drove to Sams Club and bought my wine there. Also, when you go to this store on the weekends, you are constantly bothered by the employees. However, go there during the week and you can barely find any help. The shelves are somewhat disorganized and its really hard to find what you are looking for.

This place really does have everything you need. Save yourself the trouble of trying to find your favorite alcoholic beverage and go here. The prices are fair, the selection is top notch, and employees are helpful. I spent nearly 30 minutes looking through one aisle of beer. They have all kinds of stuff from all over the place. Total wine also has quite a good selection of gluten free beers for those that are wanting to try something new. Highly recommend going there. Will return.

I went in to talk to someone about options for buying wine and beer for my wedding. I was helped immediately by a very knowledgeable associate. I was taken through the process step by step, from how much product I would need to some great suggestions for different wines. I would definitely recommend them for your special event or just for grabbing a bottle of wine to enjoy at home. Just ask if you have any questions. They are super happy to help.

Okay prices, great selection. Gold member here, so we buy quite a bit. It seems that the only things that have been on sale on the spirit side of the house the last couple months have been their house brands -- which the staff always seems to recommend over much better options. Look, you already have me, obviously, be honest and put some other stuff on sale. Also, the sampling on Saturdays is great. Please staff it better.

I love this store. Period. They have great selection of liquor, wine and beer. The people who write that a clerk was rude must be daft because the only off-key employee I ever encountered was a guy overwhelmed on his first day. Besides customers are, of course, right but they may find their bad attitude reflected at them which is, well, right. Best store I have visited in several states.

One of the best selections in Charleston, but there staff knows nothing of craft beer. I went to there "Beer District" where you can get grolwers filled and the guy filling the growlers didnt know much and us3d his computer to look stuff up. Thats not so bad, it was that he told me the beer he was selling me was NOT a belgium style beer. And of course it was!

Small for the chain. If you are familiar from other states, this is a small store, especially wine wise, but there are good prices and a wide selection. NJ, DE, and CT in the northeast especially have a very extensive selection of wines compared to here if you are familiar. Well worth a visit, SC is more s beer state than wine, FWIW.

Selection not bad. They advertise best prices, but its only on certain "get you in the door" brands. Then they try to switch you to their house brands. Ill stick with my local well stocked, competitively price store. Also traffic at there location is a nightmare. Ill spend the extra $1 if I have to - elsewhere.

The selection is great but they recently hired a new lady and I think she might be racist. She never has asked black people for their ID when Im in there but she asks to see EVERYONEs ID when whites are there. It feels like discrimination and Ill probably just start going to bottles instead.
