Bottles is my two favorite stores in one. On the beer side, they carry a vast array of beers from all over, they offer rotating seasonal beers you can only find there, and they also do weekly beer tastings on Thursdays, when they feature a different craft beer label or labels at the growler station. I like that you can bring your growler from anywhere and they swap it out for a clean fresh "Bottles" growler, unlike other places that rinse what you brought in a sink and fill it. While mine are always clean and sanitized, I know that some people do not take the effort to clean a growler properly and it is good to know that they are going home with a fresh bottle full of delicious craft beer, not a skunky growler full of tainted beer. The employees on the beer side have been helpful and knowledgeable every time I have had any questions, and are always happy to share their opinions and guide you based on what you are looking for. This is a big store, but you can always easily find an employee should you need one, and I like that they do not stalk you down the aisles or chat you up unasked. I had an experience wherein I bought a variety of sake for a tasting party and it was all terrible. I love sake, but it is best fresh, and upon checking the labels, those I had chosen were well past their sell-by dates (by a year or more). I called to discuss the issue, and the manager explained that while the manufacturer told him the sake should still be good despite being past its prime, he would absolutely take it back and refund my money in full. This was an $80 refund, and I appreciate that Bottles stands up for its customers even when the manufacturer will not stand up for them. On another occasion, I contacted them trying to find a beer my husband fell in love with in Tampa called "Molson Golden". The Bottles representative I spoke with said he did not carry that one but would talk to the distributor and see if they could get it. He texted the distributor immediately and called me back within 10 minutes with the sad news that no, they could not get it, and the closest I could find it would be over 200 miles away. He recommended I contact the distributor directly. While I did not get the answer I wanted, I appreciate him going the extra mile and finding out the answer to my question so quickly. The liquor side is like a library of alcohol, carrying brands and flavors you cant find anywhere else, and while some of the more common brands may be sold elsewhere for a few cents less, the ability to pick up my husbands usual whiskey and my weirdo flavored vodka selection of the week in one trip makes it worth the few cents. It was at Bottles that I discovered Kai Lemongrass Ginger rice vodka and Yazi Ginger Vodka, which are two of my favorites that I have never seen at any other liquor store. Whichever side you shop, the staff is there if you need them, but they are not there to hard-sell. I have never had anything but a pleasant time shopping here and every time I go there I see something new to try. Bottles has variety like no place else, and it keeps me coming back!

It is in "my opinion" after 5-6 visits, event tastings and the fact that I have spent close to $650 at Bottles that... Im utterly disappointed! Bottles, is DEFINITELY limited in their wine selection and inventory. Their wine selection is about the same as the average grocery store which is to me is disappointing. The staffs knowledge up to and including management and ownership is sub-par and uneducated when it comes to descriptions and pairings...also extremely disappointing. The beer selection and inventory is okay, but not great and I feel there are to many "shelf fillers" that will go outdated. (Note to self: be cautious and careful when buying!) The liquor selection is good, but over-crowded and poorly organized. Who needs that much, they care all the same brands your local liquor stores carry. Its just overwhelming in size. Although you can get a cigar...thats about it. The cigar humidor selection and inventory is a joke! Management initially comes off as being friendly, but turns rude when you have more wine knowlegde then they do. On two different occasions I had to tell Mike (the owner) and Brent (the GM) about the wines I liked and ask for any similar recommendations. When I asked simple and educated questions about their recommendations they became a little egotistical but extremely rude with me. To that end, I was even more shocked when they each did the same thing and turned their backs and walked away leaving me standing there. I thought this was supposed to be a "superstore" with educated staff...boy was I wrong! Good luck!

Ive never had a bad experience visiting Bottles, and this week was all I needed to come back to Bottles every time Im in town. I was looking for an option to buy whiskey and a great selection of beers, and I had to do my research over the phone. Zack (or Zach) was a great help, very patient, and what he didnt know he found out for me. I directed myself to the website after my initial phone call, and found they had cigars on site as well, and not just run of the mill cigars at that. I called the next day, because I was having trouble remembering a certain brand of cigar, and I got Zack (or Zach) again. Delighted to get his help again, I asked him about the cigar I was looking for, and after a short time on hold, he told me they did indeed have them. How great of a place this was, to have all three things I will need for my visit to town. I also remember from previous visits that they have home brew supplies, wine, and periodic beer tastings. If you live in Mt. Pleasant, I dont know why you would go anywhere else! Ill be visiting from NC, and Ill definitely be returning in the future. Thanks Zack (or Zach)!

I live in Mt Pleasant and used to frequent this store to buy craft beer for my husband and wine for me. During my last visit, one of the associates asked if I needed any help. I told him I was hosting book club this month and needed a wine that both white and red wine drinkers would probably like. I didnt think it was an offensive question, but the young, tall, bearded guy looked at me with disgust then - after an awkward pause - said, "I dont know what to say. I mean, I dont even think there IS a wine like that." I left the store wondering what the heck just happened. I later went to another store and was told about a really nice rose that would please both white and red wine drinkers. Seriously - that guy was such a wine/beer snob. I will now go out of my way to not go to Bottles - what awful customer service! Unless you know your stuff or just want to be treated like an idiot, dont waste your money there.

Wow. Amazing beer selection and a massive spirits section. Fabric staff and they literally have everything. Warning: DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN GROWLER. Their only shortcoming is that their growler station has no plumbing so they cant legally fill private growlers yet. You basically have to buy a Bottles growler for $3 one time and then can exchange your used one for a filled new one each visit. I spoke with the store manager and they have plans to convert their growler fill station in mid-2017 to an even more massive setup with plumbing and more taps. One cool thing worth mentioning is they have an awesome collection of South Carolina flag themed drinkware, neoprene wine sleeves, everything your picnic or gift basket could use. I snagged a few things Ive never seen elsewhere for future gifts down the road. Wish they would list their growler fill station taps on Untappd.
