My husband and I had used Charleston Flower Market for birthdays, funerals, holidays and special events for over 7 years. We had always loved their arrangements so they were on our list of vendors for our big day. Our wedding was on May 14th, 2016. We had met with Catherine over a year before our wedding date and she was wonderful to work with and had my Pinterest page with a detailed list of what my husband and I wanted months in advance. We met with her three times before the wedding and nailed down the details. Day of the wedding Catherine arrived to set up and we began to notice that our flowers were not what we expected. The gardenias for our grandmothers were brown, my bridal bouquet was not wrapped how I wanted it, the bridesmaids bouquets had closed Sunflowers, the boutonnieres were white daisies and were brown and wilting, our mothers corsages were viking mums and white daises and they were wilted and brown. I was getting ready still and my heart sank. Catherine noticed some of the issues could not go unchanged and ran to Harris Teeter to get some flowers to help get us through the night. The day after we were eating breakfast with our guests and one of our closest friends made a comment about our table arrangements and how it was a good idea to have fake flowers so we could reuse them. FAKE FLOWERS?! I freaked and began to look over our pictures. Sure enough our centerpieces and cake table flowers, forsythias, were fake. We had also asked for shepherd’s hooks down the aisle to hang daisy balls. Instead there were no shepherd hooks and Catherine hung them over our guest chairs. We emailed Louise Thackeray on the 18th after we had called the store to set up a meeting. She replied that she would be in and out as it was their busiest time of year. We understood and asked her to set a date and time that fit her schedule as we would like to go over our experience with her company. May 24th we had still not heard back so we emailed her again. She called us and we set up a meeting the last week in May. When we arrived Louise met us and we explained to her our displeasure with their products. We went over our estimate with her and she marked down the items that we were charged for and tried to explain their side of what happened. She explained that they occasionally use fake flowers if their supplier runs out (weather, transportation issues, etc..) she explained that the shepherds hooks could not fit into the grass that day because the ground was too hard. She explained that they knew the sunflowers were not opened and sometimes they have to make emergency runs to other suppliers to make last minute changes. We showed her the pictures of all the flowers and she agreed that some of them were not to her company’s standard. She took our estimate and began to mark through some of the items that we were charged for and said that she would look it over and get back to us. July 9th, 2016 and we have not heard a word. I even emailed her again on June 3rd before our honeymoon to see where we were on our final discussion. No phone calls, no emails. Of course they were paid in advance as were all our vendors so we have really no recourse but to share our experience through social media in hopes that others will not make the same mistake we did. Let me say that we are fine with Louies excuses for "fake" flowers (my husband would have like to have kept them, since we did actually pay for them), we understand that things happen (the ground is too hard, shipments did not come in, weather patterns change supply volume) but we would have liked to have been charged accordingly and reimbursed for what we actually received and told prior to signing our contract that these things happen all the time (according to Louie’s) and what they would do if these problems arouse. Their flowers were terrible and so was our interaction with them once they were paid in full.

When it came time to book a florist I personally was clueless. I had some pintrest photos and a color scheme but when it came to a vision of how I wanted my flowers to look I needed help! I had gone to a couple florists and left feeling unsatisfied. It wasn’t until I met Catherine at the Charleston Flower Market that I felt 100% sure of what I wanted. She knew my venue better than I did and was able to help put together all my random ideas/inspirations. She was very professional and easy to communicate with. I even gave her some of my own décor to incorporate into the arrangements. On wedding day, the flowers were even more beautiful than I could have imagined!!! Everything was beyond my expectations and looking amazing. They arrived at the venue to set everything up, dropped off the boutonnieres to the guys and the bouquets to me and my girls at our hotel. After the wedding was over, they went back and cleaned everything up! It was so easy to work with Catherine and everyone else at The Charleston Flower market I highly recommend them to anyone getting married or looking for a florist in the Charleston area!

I was having a small wedding on a Sunday at Kiawah and I had ordered a bridesmaids bouquet and bridal bouquet from a reputable florist in Charleston. A friend picked up the bouquets on Saturday and brought them to Kiawah. The flowers were already starting to wilt and turn brown and the roses were falling apart. Also I had asked for a mix of white flowers and had shown a picture, but what I got was a ball of roses and hydrangeas. I was in tears and the florist I had used was already closed. Someone suggested I give Charleston Flower Market a call and I did. They told me to bring the bouquets and they would help fix it. When I got there, Louise showed me the flowers in the cooler and what she had pulled aside for me. I told her I didnt care at this point just make me something pretty. She worked her magic while we talked and needless to say my bouquets were beautiful and even better than my original picture. She wouldnt even charge me for making them. Thank you so much Louise and everyone at Charleston Flower Market ! You are the Best!

Catherine at Charleston Flower Market did the flowers for our wedding. As an out-of-town bride, we needed a local florist who was able to visualize what we were looking for over email. Catherine was very good in this regard. My fiance and I knew we wanted to use dahlias because they were in season and local and we liked the variety of colors they came in. The dahlias she was able to source were lovely and worked great. Catherine was also very helpful with suggestions regarding our centerpieces and worked with us to achieve our vision consistent with our budget goals. They were so pretty even my husband noticed and commented on it at the wedding. My only critique is that Catherine was not always the most responsive, which in the end did not result in any problems but did cause a little angst in the run up to the wedding. I think if you understand that the flowers will be delivered and will be lovely then you neednt worry.
