I recently went to this B&N to return a book that I had received as a gift. I had the gift receipt with me. However, they would not allow me to get store credit for it because the ISBN numbers did not match. They were both for the book "Dune," but the gift receipt had the numbers for another edition. They told me that the purchaser probably bought two different editions of the same book and switch the gift receipts. Wait...what??? Who does that? There are multiple copies of this edition in every B&N in the discount section - they were at this location as well. My parents wouldnt buy the discount book and then buy another copy at full price. When I explained that this must have been a store error, I was told that was unlikely, that it was more likely that the purchaser made the error. Either way they could not give me store credit for it, even though it is a BARNES AND NOBLE published edition and they had copies of it less than 20 feet away from the front. Whatever happened to the notion that the customer is always right? I hope never to set foot in a B&N again. Their merchandise is overpriced, the service is lousy, and the book selection is poor, unless you want the latest popular stuff. This is precisely why I do 90% of my book shopping at Half Price Books (and 10% at Amazon when I cant find a specific book at HPB).
