The grapevine said the Walking Company makes orthotics. During my visit, Ian asked me to stand on a flat surface connected to two large computer screens, which tell, in colors, the precise pressures my foot makes on the floor. The Aetrex technology tells a machine in the back room how to form the orthotic. It works instantaneously. Ian walked around the corner and came back with two orthotics. From my first step, they felt perfect, like walking on pillows that fit from ball to arch to heel. Ian showed me some shoes made by Clarks. They are the lightest most comfortable shoes Ive ever had. I love them. Typical podiatric orthotics - which Ive tried and tried - cost $425, take 3 to 6 weeks to be made, are unforgiving and hard; in addition, they dont work. The Walking Company makes them in seconds for $79.95 and they fit perfectly. Ian is the best: competent, courteous and a great sense of humor. I will never shop at another shoe store.
