I hadnt gotten a tattoo in a little over a decade when I went in to Skin City this week...and now I plan to start working more on the art that Ive wanted to get done for a long time. The shop and the people in it were clean, friendly and professional. There were partial privacy walls that separated the stations and lent just enough privacy for comfort, without making it feel closed off or stuffy. Joe (Newsom) did my tattoo - there are paintings of his up all over the shop and he is seriously talented, so its no surprise that he did a wonderful job. My tattoo (a Beretta) was fairly simple, something Id gotten off the internet. And yes, I know that to many people thats taboo ("you mean you didnt draw this yourself? You got it online?!") so I truly appreciated that I wasnt made to feel bad, didnt even get a hint of condescension about it. Youd think that shouldnt be an issue, since the person getting the design imprinted on their body is the one who will be living with it, but sadly Ive heard that it can be, so I thought it worth mentioning here. Joe actually took the picture I brought in and made it look even more detailed and clean than it did on the page. He worked quickly and efficiently while doing a fantastic job, and was sympathetic and encouraging while I...*cough*...readjusted to the discomfort, telling me I was doing great and listening and responding to my prattle as I tried to distract myself. Maybe Im a baby but hey, it isnt exactly a pleasant feeling. More than worth it though :) He didnt rush me, was very patient. When he was getting the design pressed from the transfer paper to my skin he made sure that it was exactly where and how I wanted it, wiping it off and starting again to get it at just the precise angle until I was happy. Id recommend Skin City, and Joe Newsom, to anyone looking to find a local artist. I know Ive found mine!

I love this shop. Ive gotten multiple tattoos from Catlynn and shes wonderful. She listens and cares, and does exactly what you ask of her! Conversation is never dry, and she has a very warm personality! Joe has done tattoos for family members, and we have nothing but nice things to say about him. Hes a wonderful artist and is always a pleasure to talk to! I also got a piercing from the apprentice Jay and hes super funny and thurough when discussing after care. Ken however did a small tattoo for me recently, spent 5 minutes on it, didnt say one word to me the entire time, and only draped a paper towel over the arm bar that I rested my arm on. He didnt go over after care with me, just said "you have other tattoos you know how to take care of them" no more words until he over-charged me (in my opinion) for a 1.5" by 2" tattoo that he just filled in. Even after 2 days my tattoo was still irritated, and still a bit swollen, also scabbing up(which can make your color very blotchy). My tattoo is scarred in the middle, now that it has healed. I have 5 other tattoos and Ive never had any problems at all with any of the others. I would recommend the shop up and down to others, but never Ken. If it werent for my most recent experience I would have given this shop 5 stars.

Saw Steve a couple days ago for a third lobe and helix piercing. He was really nice and relaxed - he offered a hoop for the lobe because hoops are cheaper which was nice because I didnt know that. The piercing room was really clean and professional (overall the shop looked clean and professional but I was only in the piercing area). While getting the stuff out he told my bf and I about his planned piercings and some of the other work he has done too :). He lined the lobe piercing up with my other two, and I wondered if it might be too low on my ear (sometimes I feel like my others are a bit low), but he explained that there was cartilage pretty much right above his dot (showed me too by gently pinching my ear with his fingers) and that it would increase the heal time. He even turned the helix stud around so the silver flat bit was out instead of the ball; so it would look cooler, match my other earrings, and not get caught on stuff so easily - overall awesome experience, definitely recommending Skin City and Steve to my friends!

Caitlynn did a FANTASTIC job tonight on my hot air balloon tattoo! This tattoo has a lot of meaning to me so it is crucial that it was done well and boy did she do just that and then some! Every time Ive interacted with the shop, each person has been awesome. From calling in originally, making the appointment, in person consultation, rescheduling due to my needs, waiting before my appointment, and then of course the actual tattooing process, every interaction was positive and professional. I am very pleased and impressed and will be back! My husband goes in tomorrow and Im sure his results will be just as lovely! Caitlynn is so sweet and personable and it was an honor having her work be put on me! A bit of artistic advice...let your tattoo artist have a little free reign. You end up with a spectacular piece! Love Love Love! <3 OH! And it was SUPER affordable! Not cheap, good art isnt cheap. But exceptionally affordable for such high quality work!

When I walked into the shop, it impressed me so much on how clean and tidy it was that I booked an appt right away. Caitlynn helped me that day and I went back the next day and got a new tattoo and another tattoo fixed (not orig done by anyone in this shop). She was very pleasant to work with, she took her time to explain everything even though I have several other tattoos and know the drill. Its always good to hear it again. My new tattoo turned out perfect! I love it!! She added and cleaned up my other tattoo and it looks great too. Ive already gotten several compliments on them! Ive booked an appt for another tattoo with Caitlynn. I highly recommend her and this shop. Ive been to several different shops in the area and this one blows everyone out of the water. My husband is now going to go and see Caitlynn about a tattoo he wants. Thank you to Skin City Tattoo! And Thank you very much Caitlynn for the best tattoo!!

We (my sister and i) made an appointment 7 weeks in advanced. I told Chris what I liked and did NOT like. I even told him I needed to see this drawn-out ahead of time. I want to make sure I like it first. I told him this several times and even asked if this would be a problem. He said no problem. Your asking for a simple tattoo. I can handle this. Well my appointment was coming up. He gave me 1 drawing 3 days before my appointment. It was terrible!! We emailed him back. No response. Therefore I felt I needed to cancel my appointment. It was going to be in a 27 hours and I had no drawing that I would consider putting on my body! He called my sister and was extremely rude to her! Telling her he is an artist and he will only draw it up 1 more time for us. He had only drawn my tattoo up 1 time. We did cancel our appointments and will NEVER go back!! We will go somewhere that will do at tattoo that we want and not just wing it!!
