Incredibly disappointed. The guys at the desk for the service department were very nice like always and honest. However their technicians not so much. Went in for a routine oil check and maintenance on my 2013 Kia Rio. Was told it was checked and good to go and that me break pads will need to be replaced but not anytime super soon and would cost me $280. Was also told that the break fluid needed to be drained and changed by the end of the year and would be $123!! Got home and my boyfriend said no, we will do it ourselves and I will teach you. So we got all the parts from Oriley and it cost less than $100 for everything. Heres the catch. When we popped the hood after jacking up the car, there was a piece of plastic covering that was just sitting on top of the engine. NOT attached to anything. Just loosely sitting there. The oil was also not changed and it looked like it wasnt even changed the last time I was in because it was not only thick but pitch black!! This was a day after I got the car home from Kia. Also when I was told the back break pads needed to be changed but not anytime soon, they clearly didnt check it because when we took it apart to change them out, they were almost completely ran down. Also neither the engine filter nor was the air filter changed out or even checked. Last time it was "changed out" was in 2013. The filters were covered and werent the slightest bit clean or looked like they have been even checked. Not going back. They couldnt even do a simple routine service check. Its time for them to get some technicians that will actually do their job. For now on I will be servicing my own vehicle and will take if into a trusting mom and pop shop for any major fixes.

So after 11 years of not buying or really owning my own vehicle, I heard from a friend that Ron Tonkin hooked him up and I should check into it. I decided to get online and look at the website and see what kind of used cars were out there. I eventually saw a BMW that looked cool and in a lower price bracket that was appealing to me. I filled out the online credit application and got a reference number and they would get back to me. As I continued to look a little chat icon popped up and decided to tap it. A salesman named Steve at Ron Tonkin Kia was the salesman I chatted with. After about 45 mins of chatting he got more information as to what I wanted and he went from there. Over the course of the next couple days he got me approved for a loan picked out a car that would work for the bank and what would fit ME. Looking at pictures of this car I immediately thought wow!! No way thats a bad ass looking ride. I discussed over the phone money and options. Come Sunday Steve drove this car all the way to the coast for me to look at and test drive. Today I own a 2012 Kia Optima. I am completely amazed at my car buying experience. Steve was very up front and feel I was not taken advantage of. He did not make a deal that put me upside down in the car. Steve worked late two nights on my behalf and definitely went above and beyond for the sake of my best interest. He was very educated on the financing side of things and saw an opportunity to help me understand and make a plan to grow my credit with this purchase. I am thankful for his help and feel he represents a new icon of car salesmen ship. One of trust and fairness thank you Steve

"Amazing experience beginning to end". Ron Tonkin Kia is an amazing place to buy or lease a car! Initially I wasnt crazy about Kia walking into the dealership. After a long day of testing out sports cars at various dealerships I dropped by just to see what the new Optima felt like. The salesman acted like more of a buddy than a guy chasing a commission and allowed me to take a longer test drive. I loved the car but was sure my wife would want to come down and check it out so I intended on leaving and coming back. It was a Friday night and the salesman told me to just take it home for 24 hours and bring it back Saturday. I was blown away! My wife and friends loved it and we came back Saturday morning to lease it. They gave me over KBB on my trade for my Xterra and got me exactly the payment I had asked for. I had the car 3 years and only ended up putting 18k miles on it due to also having a company car. I called up the GSM Floyd at RTK and he told me hed take a look at it and see if he could by it from me because there may be some equity in the car considering they expected it back with over 36k miles on it. Floyd got me a check and the car was off my hands in 20 minutes. Ive been leasing cars for awhile and the sale is usually a good experience but the trade back is not. Floyd and his team made sure my experience was amazing from the sale to the buyback over the course of 3 years. Thanks RTK!

Long story short, my wifes timing belt busted and ended up destroying the engine. We were already into the dealership for $500 on tear down costs to see if the engine was salvageable, they said it was not. Said a new engine would be $4200 + $500 teardown. I went looking for a replacement vehicle with 30k miles and 100k warranty which the new engine I am told would have, could not find anything comparable, so we went with the replacement engine in her car. Keep in mind this is a Kia Rio which cost her parents $5k brand new when they bought it for her. We already have another car payment and cannot afford another vehicle payment. When a saleman heard my wife was spending $4k on a new engine, he actually got MAD at her and said she should have spoken to him and got into a new vehicle. My wife called me and told me what occurred, this floored me. My wife already felt bad enough that her negligence on the timing belt caused us an almost $5k bill, she was now being harassed by the sales people at the dealership while we were spending $5k in their service department. I called the sales mgr and they apologized. I also just recently called to get a replacement alternator quote just for the part as I can install it myself. Quoted $320.40. Brand new alternator (not reman) from Napa is $174. Well be looking for another dealership when we go looking for a new car this next xmas..

If you want to see what a bait and switch looks like this is the place. We where emailed a lease deal from 94.7 and brought it in(driving from downtown Portland). Moe the sales person said it was a misprint so we told him we wanted something in the same price range and he brought our a $200 / Month car. Meanwhile he took the ad we brought in and would not give it back. He was very rude and sneaky, even offering to "hook us up" with blazer tickets if we got a car that night (everyone gets blazer tickets if you buy a car during that month and he sounded like a drug dealer whispering it so no one near by heard) Also during the test drive he told us stories about how fast he drives and how it is cool to drive reckless on a near by back road and encouraged us to do the same. When we where leaving he was cocky and said he did not mind us leaving because he knew we would not find anything close. We went down to Nissan and got a 130$ /month lease for a 2013 car. A month goes by and we hear the same ad on the radio to sucker more people in. Avoid this place at all costs, and especially avoid Moe. The even tried to blame Kia on roadway for the ad and said it was them that did it, even though the Tonkin name is blasted all over it. Overall story is they have rude sales people and use bait and switch to get people into their stores.
