First, I tried to locate an email address for Peak so I could share my complaint directly but didnt find it on their website. So, hopefully this will reach someone at Peak who can encourage the staff to provide quality customer service. I was looking for a North Face duffle but before I ordered online I thought Id shop local. I called Peak and was first told that the North Face duffle I was inquiring about was "not a true duffle." Irrelevant and weird comment since the product is called "The North Face Base Camp Duffle" but I let the comment go. This should have been the first sign of what was to come. I asked if they had a medium, navy in stock and he says "yes, we have the navy and other colors in a medium like a orangy pink." I go down to the store, excited to pick up the duffle, but have to ask about additional duffles other than whats on display. The sale person tells me to look on the wall where they are hanging in bags. There is only one medium and it is not navy...or even the orangy-pink! The rest (still no navy) are smalls and when I state this fact the sale person says "no they are mediums." I have to show him the tag that states the size - SMALL. Rude and doesnt know the product. So heres my complaint - inaccurate, argumentative sales people who give me reasons to avoid shopping local for outdoor gear. The fix: Polite and knowledgeable staff.

I had a fitting with Jon a few weeks ago, and am finally getting around to writing the review. Jon (quite literally) opened the store just for me, and didn’t let me leave until all of my questions had been answered. He made everything very clear and spoke in ways that I understood (I’m a beginning biker, so I still don’t know all of the lingo). He did his best to make my bike fit with what I had, and made my options very clear if/when I wanted to buy different parts. I ended up leaving with a taller stem (which he had found in their sale bin) and an extended reach for my handlebars. I am now more comfortable on my rides and was able to almost double my “normal” distance with the new setup. I was also able to change the way I ride a bit based on Jon’s recommendations – I now have less hand-numbness, neck pain, and increased power/speed. I was able to complete my first “big” ride of 55 miles, and have signed up for a Sprint-Tri and maybe and Olympic-Tri later in the summer. It was a great experience, and well worth the money. My only complaint is that I should have done it two years ago, when I bought the bike!

Looks like some hit or miss scenarios going on here with customer service. I implore folks to give Peak a second chance. My partner and I have become recent customers of Peak, and new bikers. On many occasions now we have received very excellent service, and just a time or two we have received somewhat disengaged service. From those folks, weve left feeling perhaps a bit confused, but thinking more on it, I believe with certain staff there may be some unsure apprehension in certain areas that is likely not meant to be rude. All in all, we have been very happy with Peak and have learned quite a bit from Zac (sorry if I misspelled that), Keet, and Jake, who we look for every time we go in now. These guys are young, exuberant, knowledgeable, and really non-judgmental about two chunky middle-aged guys getting in shape through biking. I dont know the name of the mechanic weve talked to previously, but he is a bit more middle-aged, absolutely knows his way around bikes, is very informative, and never put off by our newbie questions. Were glad to have you here in Corvallis, Peak.

I recently had the opportunity to have a bike fitting by Jon Booth from Peak Sports in Corvallis. He is without a doubt one of the most knowledgeable and professional individuals I have had the privilege of working with on any topic. The bike fitting and evaluation conducted by Jon was extensive, very thorough and his personality and ability to relate to people, outstanding! He made several changes to the way my bike was set up to fit me as an individual, taking into consideration all the little nuances that he noted after the evaluation process was complete. I was very impressed by Jon and the work he did with me. He was recommended to me by others as "the guy" to get a professional, knowledgeable fitting done; they were right! Thanks for the work, Jon! Is there a rating higher than 5 starts?

I normally speak very highly of this place. I had never had any problems in the past. Recently when I had some tires and tubes replaced on an old bike there, I was treated very rudely by someone on the phone in regards to some questions I had about some things that needed fixing up. I couldnt afford, by their quote, to fix it that month but perhaps in the future and was trying to see if I could split up the different things that needed replacing. It seems that not being able to pull out $250.00 on a bike on the spot is a problem for this shop. They still do good work, but expect rudeness if you mention not being able to afford something, or if youre not a bike elitist.

Recently, I went into Peak Sports for a custom bike fitting conducted by Jon Booth. Jon did a remarkable job, spending well over 3 hours exploring, explaining and adjusting my bike for ease of use and performance. He was methodical and comprehensive in his approach: a full interview of my issues, careful measurement, video capture, lots to interchange on possible fixes and then a careful reconstruction of my bike. It was a valuable consultation, but better yet, Ive been riding now for a month and so far, the discomfort I was feeling was gone. If youve got a bike that doesnt seem to fit you, or causes you grief, give Jon a call at Peak!

Perhaps the most important aspect of a store for me is the quality of the customer service. To be fair, the people there are extremely helpful. As a newbie in bikes, I really wanted to know exactly what Im paying for, and the workers there answered my inquiries enthusiastically. The workers I had were extremely sociable and not just answer question like a robot. for me, Im willing pass all the "good Quality products" if the customer service was bad. luckily i had the best customer service experience. For the store itself, pretty much what everyone said, expensive but high quality products with good maintenance service.

Good quality merchandise. Low selection. Rude employees, good luck finding help if you need it. Their repair shop is a trustworthy place to get your bike repaired, but again, the workers are very rude and honestly, I dont think it is worth it. Walk down the street, there are plenty of other bike shops that are more welcoming. Please note that is review is only for the Peak Sports bike shop. The Peak Sports outdoor shop (no bikes) is a different story. Great place to rent skis and snowboards during the winter. Workers came up to ME and asked if I needed help! Very different from the bike shop!
