A premium grocer specializing in natural foods and eco-friendly products, including organics and locally sourced products. Quality standards are supposed to ensure humane animal treatment, sustainable farming and fishing practices, environmentally friendly or less-toxic household supplies and body products, and grocery items free of certain artificial flavors, sweeteners, and preservatives. Also has an extensive prepared foods operation and small bar and restaurant. This store is generally clean and well-kept, has good produce, and a number of unusual or specialty meat and seafood offerings. The grocery selection encompasses many different product varieties and accommodates most trendy new diets, but this store is small, the selection of brands is limited, the shelves are easily depleted of stock, and the prices are usually higher than competitors, although the products that are there tend to be very high quality and brands often not found in other stores. A much wider range of personal care products and especially vitamins occupy two isles in the middle of the store, which are worked by some of the more helpful employees. Cheese selection is very good and the staff there and among the wine and beer (no hard liquor) are very knowledgeable, if sometimes hard to find. Ive been disappointed by the cakes in the case at the bakery department--theyre not nearly as good as they look--but their breads, pastries, and huge cookie bar are quite good on the whole. Deli is small but some of the cold cuts Ive had were much better than Kroger. Has a large, tasty hot and cold salad bar, good pizza to order and by the slice, and at least decent offerings in sandwiches, burgers, etc., with a shared kitchen for the counter, salad bar, and cafe. Many people come to eat, drink, or work at the bar, which does coffee, beer, and wine, and had plenty of outlets, while more bench-like tables occupy the rest of front of the store. I recommend this place for those into natural products and organics, those looking for special items, and any discerning shoppers who have enough disposable income to come here regularly.

I enjoy whole foods for the products; they are a little more pricey on items as a whole, but I like what they offer. Lane Avenue is the closest one to us. After a few very not fresh items I have purchased I decided to call to give them a heads up when I brought home a loaf of bread and several baked goods that were literally not edible... The woman who answered the phone was discourteous when I asked politely if there was a manager available. The manager did not offer an apology... she was rude and tried to point the finger at me for purchasing items that were day old, not marked day old, but evidently were just the same. So to defend her bakery items that were old and not edible that I had just purchased the evening before she treated a friendly and faithful customer like she was a second class citizen. She only offered a refund when I shared with her that I dont normally pay money for things you cannot eat... a refund but no apology. I am not rude nor irate... did not begin the conversation by being mean or pointing fingers. I really just like having the store nearby, but after this experience I am not surprise I have purchased stale items here several times. It seems that is the customers fault... I guess I should have knocked it several times on the counter to make sure the full price items were soft enough to be chewed and swallowed. The service at Sawmill has always been wonderful and I have never been treated with rudeness... I have also never purchased a stale item from them, go figure. I think I will skip lane avenue next time, being a smaller store they dont have as large a selection anyways, you would think a manager would want to make up for that with courteous customer relations... Oh, Well.

I seriously have to give this Whole foods a one star. The reason: their hot bar never changes, same old menu all-the-time. They may say it is because demand requires them to serve the same consistent items week-after-week. Id disagree, if that is the case upper arlington has a really bland taste for food. Today was the all time low for me, I wandered over to the hot bar at around 1140 and there was dried up broccoli and beef, the basmati rice was overcooked, the south carolina bbq was overly season, the chow-mien noodles were bland! Come on whole foods get it right! I used to frequent the East Coast locations (MD) and their variety was awesome! Are you telling me Ohio does not like variety, and tasty food? Even if you are catering to the Ohio State crowd, surely they can appreciated a varied menu? Chicken wings and potatoes gets old fast! They also recently increased the price of the chicken quesadilla from $6 to $8, and the farm breakfast from $5 to $7. You may think it is just a couple of bucks, how about over 33% price increase? Hey Regional Manager, get involve and do something about this, seriously! Do I need to call Austin, TX? Peace out

I love wandering the aisles of Whole Foods, and while some complain about high prices, if you stick to the house brands and ask the meat, fish and wine sellers whats a good deal, then you can keep your cost down. On wine, they have a very good selection of wines around $10. We buy them by the case and get the 10% discount, giving us one bottle free. Also, you can get a free sample of any product, so you know what youre paying for. And theres no store with better customer service. People seem happy working there and go out of their way to help me find what Im looking for and discover new products. Some good deals: 365 yogurt and eggs from free-roaming chickens. I really like their cold cuts, meats and fish. Excellent quality! If you bought these items in a restaurant, it would be an upscale place and youd pay a lot more (plus tax and tip). Finally, shopping at WF makes me feel good because they support recycling, local vendors and humane treatment of animals.

After being rudely treated by a customer service rep after pointing out this is the third trip that I have made to their store on different occasions, and they have not been stocked on the items that I need, which are their own store brand, she told me that I should have called them to see if it was in stock. Really? Thats the job of their purchasing department to make sure their shelves have products, not mine to make sure their own products are currently stocked. I believe I will try to find other products that arent their own store brand and not give them any business.

Went grocery shopping just yesterday and was greeted by a swarm of fruit flies at quite a few of their vegetable and fruit stands. Can you say bacteria and infestation? Gross. Not to mention, I pay close to $9 for a fresh salad mix, only to open it the next day to see it is rotten and smells very odd. Not impressed with this location whatsoever. Not to mention, the Upper Arlington crowd is beyond rude and have no manners whatsoever. Pushing me aside and jumping in front of me while Im scanning the shelves. Learn some common social decency, please.
