I have been contacting West Side Market since 2 hours ago. No one is answering the phone. The voice mail system is not working neither, therefore I am not able to leave a message. I bought a bag of grapes, about 3.5lb, from Thomas Produce at the West Side Market. The grapes on the table for demo was in good quality. I told the cashier that I wanted a bag. He picked up a bag from box inside and weighted. I trusted him and thought it would be the same quality as it was on the table and didnt check... When I opened the bag yesterday and found out that about half grapes in the bag were bad, soft with mildew. I called Thomas Produce this morning, the lady who answered the phone was extremely rude. She shouted at me to bring back the grapes for getting money back. It is really very bag experience with shopping at West Side Market. I will not bring back the grapes since the money of gas would be the same as the money on grape. Please just take my lesson that make sure to double check the item you buy before you leave...

The West Side Market is an historic trading of Clevelands near West side. Here you can find a plethora of fresh groceries and unique foods that you cant find anywhere else. Uncommon fruits like lycée abound. You can scour deliciously prepared meats or eye the most decadent of cassata cakes you could imagine. The only thing to be wary of is the potential of being sold shoddy product; the produce in particular. If you enter from the W. 25 entrance, the first fruit and veggie salespeople and the ones toward the middle are the most reliable. As you get to the back, closer to the main indoor market square, the sellers become more high pressure and the items are just not as good. Theyll gladly sell you 12 mangos for $3 but theyll all be bad in 3 days. Buy if you are using it that day, but dont stock up and expect it to last. This market is a much like the North Market in Columbus for anyone who has been there. It has so much history and acts as an inter-generational and cross cultural medium connecting all peoples.

This is one of the oldest and most historic markets in the United States. It possesses an old world charm that is really appealing. They have a world class selection of fresh meats, fruits and vegetables and an excellent selection of pastries and sea food. Prices are usually pretty good. The market is not open daily so you will need plan ahead. They are not open on Tuesday or Thursday. Also parking can be really tight on the busier days of Saturday and Sunday. Besides all that the best thing about this market is the culture. You will meet people of all races and nationalities harmoniously getting along drawn together by the international selection of foods that they love. This truly is a great place to shop and it is also a safe place thanks to the presence of the Cleveland Police. It is also a tourist attraction as well so you will meet people from all over America and the world who have come here to Cleveland to experience our local treasure. This market truly is remarkable!

Ok, there are two separate buildings. The small one to the right as you are facing the front, in between the big building and the pub, is the produce section. You can find all kinds of fruits and veggies, fresh herbs and such for amazing prices, especially later in the day. If you go in the main building, you will find meats, cheeses, sweets and all kinds of other things. There are a couple of places serving food, a brewery in the back, a gyro place, a bratwurst spot, that you can eat at. There is fresh raw seafood, loads of different kinds of meat at various delis, a coffee shop in front, a fresh pasta spot, an herb shop, a sundries shop of sweets, cheeses, meats, grains, dried goods, etc. There is a fresh squeezed juice and smoothie bar in the back. You can find Mexican, Asian and Mediterranean ingredients. Basically, if you are looking to prep a fresh meal, you can find just about any ingredient here, plus grab a bite or a coffee and take care of that sweet tooth.

Whats not to love about West Side Market? Its a Cleveland staple, & its one of the best places in the city to get fresh food - not to mention to get in some great people-watching! They sell pretty much everything here, including any kind of meat you can imagine (need a whole pig, anyone?), plus pad Thai, homemade cannoli & macarons, ready-to-eat gyros, loose-leaf tea, gourmet cheese, infused olive oils, fresh pasta, Japanese soda, locally grown fruit, vegetables, & flowers... Its always bustling, a little overwhelming, & full of all kinds of food you didnt even know you needed (looking at you, Christmas Ale-crusted bacon!!!) I love the seating balcony, where you can get the best view of the whole market. Its a perfect little city getaway on a busy day, & it just feels... so very Cleveland. My only wish is that West Side Market offered more ready-to-eat options, like Reading Terminal Market in Philly, but Ill make do with what its got - which is pretty fantastic.

One of my favorite things about living in Cleveland is the West Side Market. It is an experience that you cant find very many places. Both the produce and the meat section are huge and buying produce at the market will usually save you money from a grocery store AND you will get better quality food! Win win. Come here and spend the afternoon, its fun. You can grab lunch at one of the vendors indoors and then shop around. Its fun to get to know the owners of each booth and to find out the best place to get what. This way youre supporting local in the purist way too. If you live and Cleveland and you havent been, go now! Its addicting. I only wish it was easier to get to on the bus from the east side of Cleveland. Protip: Come right before closing to get some great deals on older produce. Its not the most fresh, but I couldnt argue with three pints of raspberries for a dollar!

I really like coming to the West Side Market on weekends to pick up cheap produce and to get a bite to eat. This weekend, I got a box of cherry tomatoes for 50 cents, a box of strawberries for $1, and a bunch of broccoli for 50 cents. No, its not as fresh as you might find at some grocery stores, but I dont mind throwing out a handful of overripe tomatoes when 90% of them are fine. (Did I mention I paid 50 cents for the whole box?!) Yeah, some of the vendors can get pushy and try to get you to buy stuff you dont want, but just insist on what you want. Theyre not going to hunt you down later for not buying their pineapples. After getting fruits and veggies, I like to go to the other side and get a crepe and some tea and sit up on the balcony and just people watch. A perfect, laid-back, and cheap way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

This place on Saturdays around noon is a TOTAL PARKING NIGHTMARE!!! If the city had anything more than a jelly bean for a brain they would build an attached multiple story covered parking garage 5+ levels, which would allow MORE visitors to come during peak times instead of getting frustrated and leaving... AND it would significantly increase attendance in the WINTER and cold or rainy days since no one will have to battle brutal weather conditions coming in or out with a handful of goods!! ...!!!!LIGHT BULB!!!! ...We recently visited the 7th Street Market in Charlotte NC on vacation, equivalent to WSM (but WSM is MUCH better), and they got it figured out-attached covered parking, affordable parking fee, easy in/out access..the place was PACKED, win /win/win for the vendors/ customers/city ..Poor CLE...
