Ive been going here on and off for 24 years, I have purchased multiple firearms, gear, and ammo over this time period. They are priced higher than most but you get free range time and it is closer to my home so it can be worth the extra. I think today was my last day, and here is why: I know the place well and anytime I go it can be a good or poor experience depending on the staff. I can deal with that as I know what I am getting into when I walk in the door. But today, the poor customer service and blatant lies were really over the top. At mid morning I walked in with my wife who is still a new shooter and we were looking to use the range. About 8 of the 12 lanes were in use, some people were doubled up. I gave the clerk my ID, was assigned a stall, put on our eyes and ears and walked to our lane. Next to us was a guy with a pistol sized AK, cool for me but very loud for my wife which made her nervous. Also, most at the range were fast firing which made it difficult to communicate so my wife and I decided to leave and come back in the early morning when there is usually less of a crowd. I went to the clerk who helped us in and told him "Hey, Im really sorry but it is bit to hectic in there for my wife and we would rather come back tomorrow morning" he said "yes, I know, it got really busy in here all of a sudden." Then another clerk asked what stall I was in and he pulled my ID and went to ring me up. He said nine dollars. I said I did not use the range, he said I know, but there is a half hour minimum. I replied "I know that, but I did not use the range and was in there for less than two minute, never unpacked, never hung a target". He then threw his arms in the air stating there is nothing he can do about it. I said fine and gave him my credit card, which he then informed me there was a ten dollar minimum purchase. I said ok, but I think you are losing a customer. He then replied that it will still be ten dollars and he will not ring the charge for nine. I asked him to ring it up for ten and you have lost a customer. He response was "I cant, the books wont match." At which point he threw my ID and credit card back at me stating "fine, then I will just void the sale." I am not sure why he would not be accommodating to begin with, why he would claim there nothing he could do about the nine dollar charge, and then ultimately void the sale. Of course, when the owner (who I enjoy as she is the go to gun store for local news station and is great when working n sales) is there things go smoother, staff is at least friendly, and there is someone to hold these folks to a standard (I have seen her reprimanding her staff, not sure why some are still there...maybe related I guess). Bottom line, there are other options nowadays, try them first. Stonewalls penny wise and pound foolish policies (run all cards as debits, ten dollar minimum charges, 30 minute minimum range time once the clerk takes your ID) may work for them and I am sure they make money, but really does not do a thing to keep customers.

I work in the firearms industry, and before that I worked at a range for 2 years and this place is the exact reason you see a bunch of new high end ranges popping up across the country. As soon as I walk in an employee incorrectly tells me that I can get a felony for having loaded rifle magazines in an outside compartment on my rifle case, which used to be the law but that changed over a year ago. I suggested to him that the law has changed but he seemed unwilling to even consider that he was misinformed. The range does not allow you to use standard 5.56 rifle ammo, they force you to buy hollow points from them at almost 60 cents/round. It makes no sense that they require hollow points or soft points, a 50 grain hollow point round will have the exact same effect on the steel back stop as a 55 grain FMJ round. They are different from every other range in that they dont charge you for everything until youre done shooting. They were also unwilling to allow me to pay for the ammo and another member of my party to pay for everything else, which does not seem like an unreasonable request. Its 2016, you at the very least be able to split the cost between a couple people. The range is carpeted, which can be a pretty big safety risk because un burned powder can build up in it and lead to a fire, and it just looks really bad. Finally, they only allow you to fire 1 round from "high powered rifles" at a time, and that includes AR15s which are far from "high powered". If they were smart theyd get rid of that rule so people burn through more of the high priced hollows points customers are stuck buying from them. This places seems like the type of range that people simply tolerate because it is close. Next time well make the drive to Point Blank in Mentor.

Great place to go shooting close by, and real relaxed. The staff are not as over protective as some ranges, they ask that you follow the basics that any range would have such as making sure the loaded firearm is pointed downrange, control your accuracy, etc. As long as you do that you are all set. The staff may seem a little off putting and intimidating at first, but theyre just there to make sure you abide by the rules, not really the conversational types and I have no problem with that. I came here to use the range and practice, not talk shop, nor bs. Let me shoot, if I have a question answer it (which they have and seem to be really knowledgable on a variety of firearms) and let me enjoy my stay. Which may or may not be a problem depending on what your used to. If you want a staff that will hold your hand through out your time here this place is not for you. If you want to go shoot for an hour or two, have handled firearms in the past, and just want to shoot without any distractions from the staff this place is for you. They do charge per the hour which i suppose can rack up after a while but at $14 for handguns and $20 for shotguns and high powered rifles its not that bad. Especially since they let me use my 300 Win Mag, and i from what ive been told any caliber under 400 is allowed. There is a variety of firearms for sale and rent, as well as enough ammo to start WW3 at pretty decent price.

I started going here with my partner about a year ago. The first few times we went, we were helped by a tall thin older gentleman, I think his name was Tom. He was so kind, so helpful and so informative it quickly became my favorite place to shoot. However, the last time I went in however, he was not there. I came in with my mother who was visiting from out of town and my partner. I was helped by 2 guys, one with a beard. I use the term "help" loosely. As soon as we walked in I realized I forgot my ear protection at home and told my partner. The man at the counter said "Its probably with your hairdryer and curlers." I brushed it off. We then got our range time and started shooting. I have guns, but I have been in the market for a 38 and have been testing some out. I went up to the desk and asked to rent one. He said "honey why dont you have your boyfriend over there rent it for you do you even know how to shoot?" I should have left right then, but my mother was enjoying herself so I didnt. When she was done, because she had such a great time she wanted a shirt to buy. She asked if they had any shirts in smaller sizes (they only had XXL) and they said "honey this isnt a dance studio." and that was it. never going back. loved tom and wanted to buy my 38 there, but they lost my business for good. There is no need to treat customers like that.
